  1. Need more info, why did it overheat and how bad, thats a factor, with clearance issues sometimes, and you can collapse piston skirts
  2. Sorry to hear that,Banshees are too owner specific for anybody to use another one,I run into problems like that all the time with people. If I were you I buy a stock stroke long rod Hot Rods crank,795 serires pistons .020 over,bore/hone ,your set again.Never make that mistake again
  3. Yopu need to start with a compression test, find someone who has one just so we know what we are dealing with, you dont take the carbs off to sync them, there is a great how to video on this site not sure where ,
  4. Use all if possible but,I built a cub over a year ago that one of the dowels was mangled into the case,I machined it flat with the case and used the rest. The guy I built it for abuses it daily with no problem
  5. I have come to the conclusion that not many mechanics can work on banshees,so crack into them carbs and let us know whats in there, second how do you know it has that much compression are you taking his word for it,have you ever put a top-end in ,head milled, things like that, let us know
  6. Will it rev fine at idle,if so check plug caps, also how about writing some of your mods, jetting, pipes, and so on .It will be in your benifit if we know whats on and done to your bike, wheather is changing too,we are going too see alot of these problems
  7. Not to say you didnt ,but is there a little black o-ring still left all the way back on the inner hub, that wiil give you a prob and blow clutch plates immaturly, and make it not adjust rite
  8. Im no expert but I have done many 4-stroke builds, did you take the valves out of the head and check the seats.A couple of bikes with the same symptom problem have come thruogh they needed valve job or build-up cleaning.I also didnt read the whole thing maybe you did the valves, whats the compression at and do you have a leak-down tester
  9. To replace a stock basket is expensive,go with a billet basket,as for the gear on the basket I would be happy to send you one,I have 4 of them all my bikes use diffrent gears for drag, also your tranny gears are not in your side cover
  10. J-arm frames were made in 87 with the original banshee, its way lighter than an a-arm,but they say not as strong.my buddie has one that he uses to drag
  11. I still say do a pressure test just 4 peace of mind, but lean on the air screw or pilot will do it 2.How does it sound, alot of my basic tuning is done just by the tone of the motor
  12. Did you pressure test it,most issues like that are air leaks,or lean cond, but your not that lean,I have had plenty of motors thruogh here with aggressive prting on stock pilots and ran good,is it happening off the rev or just sitting there
  13. It shouldnt be throwing sparks,What is your compression with the stock head,Timing and compression go hand and hand with fuel.If your motor is pinging either back timing out of it.Let us know what your compression is at with the stock head
  14. I dont know what crank bearings you have but I have had TZ bearings make a wining sound on break in,then it went away
  15. I made a rig out of a shop vac and a rubber hose to suck out a clip once,it was sitting behind crank. Its also possible they forgot it and the journals kept it in place.
  16. The market sucks out there rite now,its only worth what someone is willing to give you for it.My boy has been raping people for there machines and making a killing. We dont pay anything over $1500 no matter what it is or shape,no paper work even less.trying to scoff as much up as we can while times are tuff. You do see bikes listed for decent money but are they getting that for it.If your thinking about selling be ready to let it go cheap, youll never get what you put in
  17. I had the same problems with sudco thats how i ended up with so many jets I have ten of just abuot every size,pm me if you pay shipping ill send you jets for free ,give them a whirl if they work keep-em if not send them back. This goes to the guy looking for a tap, unless your a machinist its an oddball size.I have about 15 taps off of tors kits pay shipping its yours.I also have stockers(5 sets) if you need,I would try the flats first though.Pm me if either of you need anything
  18. While shes apart check the pump/clutch housing for ware and look at plastic gear inside cover and make sure pin is there and notch is ok
  19. Why octane booster? What did you use to seal your cases?did you do a pressure test on the motor? What do you mean by a fresh stock head?Did you try swapping the key around(i never saw one)? Are your carb slides in rite? Just some thoghts
  20. There is a reason why its cheap! The only time I have ever seen the pins missing it was on another vitos crank, bearing got too hot and spit the pin or something.Just my opinion but I wouldnt put a possible disaster in my bike, have a builder check it out before you waste time and money
  21. Take it from someone who just did it,I probably could have stepped into a cub for the same money. If your trail riding and worried about budget just port yours.I used my cylinders ,if I would have bought new it would have been close.
  22. That jet kit will not work. The needles will not fit nor the pilots. You will have to call someone direct tell them carb type and they will send you shit.SUDCO racing is the name of the place or if you want just buy stockers .I would start with 220-240mains 25 pilot stock needle for carb on 3rd clip, now here is where it gets tricky with those carbs,on the intake side there is a little brass jet(air jet) that allows more fine tuning between pilot sizes if your not happy with 2 1/2 incriment sizes. If you can take the pilot out and show me I have tons of jets for those carbs but need to make sure of pilot shape because there are 3 diffrent ones
