sleeper06 replied to hshooter's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods

Motor is only part of the equation on asphault, chassis an tires play a huge role.Do you want to stay stock cyl

Unfortunatly i didnt get to larry b4 he bought this 4mil package, he got a 110 rod 58mm stroke wang crank with somw whack ass wrist pin bearings. The crank was .002 on install which is acceptable by most on the true stand.black n yellow is def smarter than a 5th grader he is one of the best fabricators/welders in my area and has built some nice cars/bikes and is no noobie to motors. He got my number through a friend of a friend who has known both of us for years.I assembleed and checked all tolerances of his motor.Kevins port work was very clean and his bore job was very nice and checked out just how i like it on a bore guage, the crank was within spec from big end play to runout, the only thing that threw me off was the 110 rods, wrist pin bearings.I have had this motor apart for weeks blknyellow and myself are by no means shit talkers or bashers thats why i havnt said anything to this point. These cranks have there place just not in my motors.I talked to kevin himself and he said a machine shop assembles all his cranks not him.So in conclusion i just got done welding up a hotrods long rod crank and am in the process of reassembling his motor

I have similar nonsense gun laws here in long island,i joined a 24hr county gun range so in essence im allways on my way to the range
-
tear it down and inspect it,have the crank checked for runout/true,bore an hone with new pistons. You can go broke saving money just remember that.If you do it rite you will never regret it,these are very easy to work on but having someone banshee specific help you is priceless

Slower than you and tedder have pointed me in the rite direction for a while now its up to you to run with it,start researching street bike clutches and set-ups that where i first started with lock-ups an sliders, there tech directly relates in many cases

i bought a spring tension tester off of the sled shop for snowmobiles and started there, also realize that i have been fucking with this for over two years now and am still learning everypass,i have a log book for data ,i have fried many clutches and have countless hrs in testing .Every motor is diffrent so its kinda hard to tell someone if they need 100lbs of pressure or any number for that matter,i will tell you one ring is not enouph! The spring tension tester was about $150

at the 1/4 my cyl read around 140 or so with a few degrees diffrent from side to side as n2o said a little diffrence is common how does the burn look after a full pass on the plugs.you might want to invest in some egt guages ,i personally dont have them but a bike i built and tuned did it was alot easier to see results after a 1/4 mile pass, this particular bike had a safe burn on half the base.close to 1100 degrees on the egt,and 120 on the transf sides of the cylinder so as n2o said extremely rich, have you thought about playing with dome configuration to bring heat into the motor plus i run much lower compression on all my builds

You need to do a plug chop to establish your main then play with the needle to adjust the throttle range your having a prob with. With a single carb the needle is a very important adjustment but it wont mean shit unless your main is close
-
springs i cut to get optimal slip and fingers you can loose weight on a mill an machine them or make new out of lighter material

Whats up bro i live in long island,it should rip your arms off down low with a trail port and fmfs, give carb size and existing jets,Where are you located.I just sold my boys 03 with fmfs but it was far from a trail port i wonder if you ended up with it

sleeper06 replied to joecrossman69's topic in Jetting & Exhaust Forum
try 185 main 45 pilot,needle 4th clip -
If they look diffrent you can have a couple of causes ,dirty carbs, ignition system problem or air leak
-
why would you try the leanest setting, longer needles sit in the jet more so try 4th clip, how does the plug look

Matt are you a lawyer?I took criminal justice in college intent is hard to prove and this is hearsay in court. What kind of cop has a screan nam(12 oclock pimp). My father is a retired captain from nypd do you know that he can be held accountable for fraudalent charges with suspension/termination even if its not work related. When you take an oath to uphold the law you can loose your job if you partake in any!! criminal mischeif. This was stated from my father to the best of my memory from my conversation with him.Like i said before sucks for Joe he is by far one of the most stand up guys i know.Basically the only thing usable is the cases and tranny everything else needs love or replacement

The crank was .003 or three thou on stator side ,.005 on primary side,I have all needed equipment to check phasing ,radial /bearing runout but it would have been a waste of time. The crank bearings wont even spin so the guy who did a yamabond test (WOW) i just proved you wrong! The cylinder clearances is what through up a red flag at first .Im my 90s on motor rebuilds and i can tell by feel if its too lose.So just to be sure i brought them to EAL honing a great guy who is just as anal as i am about shit. This guy is in the aviation an outboard race scene and is the best in the business as far as im concerned,he uses all SUN-IN equipment and guages the pistons were .009 an 6tenths smaller than the bore call it .010 either way not good. The reason he had the motor and didnt say anything for two weeks is because it was sitting on my bench and i didnt have time to look at it.This all gets fucked because the whole reason for him buying a motor was I didnt have time !Again i gotta go to work ill check back

Im the one building the motor and wow! #1 I have nothing to gain from you or him this is a neutral opinion The first thing i did was pop the head to send it to mull for a mill and chamber cut,What i saw scarred cylinder walls with a poorly done crosshatching,I said to joe yo this really isnt gonna fly and since i was porting the jugs they had to come off anyways.I wanna know who checked these cylinders for clearances because the were blind? The piston to cylinder wall clearance was .010 and the ring gap .022 this was a grenade waiting to happen! So im thinking allright pistos an a bore arnt too bad he will live .Then i tried to spin the crank it tokk three of my boys to hold the motor and all my weight on the kickstarteer,so im thinking something is up its turns out someone used yamabond to permanantly weld the bearings together now crank is junk and it gets better. The clutch side had no gasket just silicone, all the bolts behind the basket that should be threadlocked had none and would have backed out,all clutch parts are grooved ,eccenctric stud is mangled. The flywheel looks like it was used as an anvel because they didnt have a puller so knurled over the edges with a pry bar which now rubbs stator. He used a shit load of grease on the top end but nothing on crank seal lips HUH.Oh and the cranks not welded unless you consider welding the bearings with yamabond.Again i dont gain anything but money in the end,I like joe he is a real straight shooter he is one of my only customers that money is no object just wants the rite job,ill post back later i have to go to work
