Actually I think that I can get it w/o having to pull the pipe. It was just the factory upper control arm bolt that was a beotch. =)
-
Yeah I do need to fix the heims still and put those jam nuts on the outers. I will check it when I do the shocks what a PITA I have to take the effing pipe off again.
-
Well I guess when I get my Works in the mail tomorrow if they hit the arm big time then the uppers are on wrong. It is pretty irratating getting these different answers.
-
Cool... Do you have any pictures of yours from above? Mine clear the shock well in the front but only like 1/2 inch in the back. I hope the works shocks do not have a larger spring than the stock or it will be drama.
-
Seriously!!! So he told you that they were supposed to be on the OTHER way?

RETURN E MAIL FROM ASR... COPIED AND PASTED BELOW. Hi! They are correct. However you need to screw thw heims at the chassis in more and adjust the large heim at the outside to compensate. Any questions please call us!
-
So I still do not get it. Im going to send ASR an e mail myself and see what they say about my pictures. I talked to Jay from this forum and he was looking at his (i think) lonestar arms and he said he can stick his fist in front of the shock (big hoop forward) and can only stick his pinki behind the shock and that is how mine is. Well im glad I have a week to figure this out... lame!

I searched and can not find pictures of anyones ASR arms installed correctly. I went to their website and in the displays that they have (if the are side correct in the pictures) they have them laid out on the right and left with the bend going inwards. WTF This sucks. Look at the pics Bend on the inside???!? http://www.amstarmanufacturing.com/LongTravelA-Arms.html

I bolted the shock up to the bike with the bend going forward. The arms clear the shock. Dang - why does no one know how the upper arm goes on? No one here has instructions? Why have 2 people heard 2 different things from the same company.

I have not started working on it yet and my shocks wont come until like next thursday. What im now wondering what someone said about the jam nuts on the upper and lower OUTER heim joings... I think those are supposed to be on there BECAUSE the package I got has the brake line clamps and 4 large jam-looking nuts. I think I am supposed to put those on all four outer heims... Anyone????
-
LOL... no man that is just an allen screw the ball joint is not facing up. Thanks for the tip about the high speed stuff I will do that. I'll try to put the shock on in a little bit and seee if it mounts. To bad ARS is not opeon on weekends.

Yes sir! Thanks for the reply.... the works shocks and +2 ss lines are on their way.
-
Yeah I made a tool a while ago. Took a cheap ass long flathead screwdriver and grinded a notch/deep hook on the very end of it. Its the same size as the spring and it works well. That is a good idea you have there as well thanks for the tip. I managed to get the bolt out. Pipes off. SUCKS! Oh yeah, had to take the bumper off as well because the bolt would not slide out all the way because it hit the bumper bolt in the frame. Who would of thunk it.

Alright so I bought these arms on e bay. They are ASR arms and im installing them now. I think im done for the night because its cold. Anyways... They are slighly used so im assuming the dude that had them before had the top and bottom adjustments close to good for his bike. You know how the top has the two heim ends that screw in and out and the bottom has one... Camber and Caster I believe, but I don't really know for sure. 1. Is they only way to check the tire tilt angle to install them all the way with shocks and bolt the tire up and see how strait up and down it is? That seems like a real PITA because I would have to dissasemble all kinds of stuff to readjust. Please let me know if that is what has to happen... 2. Are the correct arms installed on the correct side? I have no instructions 3. Is the upper arm bolted in right? It seems like these spacers are used to suck up the free space between the upper frame a arm mounts, correct? I ride a glamis and gordon's well so its all sand how should the tire be? Facing more in on the top or more out on the top or strait up and down like my stock arms were? If you know please try and answer all my questions so I can be safe on my 1st ride with these its kind of scary because they are used. I ride with some crazy inscane bastards and I need to be confident with the suspension. Maybe I should have bought new... to late. :ermm:

Cool thanks for the replies guys. I have a punch... and im going to have to remove the damn pipes. Its okay though because I just picked up a 12 pack of Siera Nevada so I have some motivation for this lovely Friday evening. I hate taking those damn t5 pipe springs off. Ohh well I know it will come out when I can hit it strait on.

I have a noss head on my bike. The o ring style seals are far superior to the single gasket. Noss heas also have superior cooling. I have had zero problems with mine I have 19cc domes.
-
Im in the garage now trying to remove it WITH OUT having to remove the pipe. I bot the nut off of the side by the pipe but its like impossible to get that long bolt out. Does anyone have suggestions or does the pipe have to be removed so that I can bang on the end of the bolt to get it out. I already tried an air ratched on it as well and it just spins... damn.

My bike has a +4 and I like it and the spring is cranked all the way down, but it feels fine when I ride and jump. What difference would I feel (and this dude with the +6) by getting it re valved?

Aftermarket CDI and timing Advance
Dgrey replied to 2004LEBanshee's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
My brother is wondering the same thing. He has his CDI set on 0 because his timing is at plus 6. I think the CDI does tampers with the fuel curve... I don't know exactly what it does with the timing. How could you really test the timing??? I guess if you have it all full advance and you bike pings that would be a good indicator that it advanced your timing. -
Dont know where they were chromes I got em off e bay. Thanks for letting me know they are ASR. I THINK that ASR uses stock length aftermarket shocks, but im not totally sure... I have not received the arms in the mail yet so I have no ability to measure the distance at full droop! LAME!!!! I need all this stuff together by the 26TH for a fat halloween trip to Gordon's Well Sand Dunes.

I sent you a PM. Do they have rezzies?
