  1. Looks like a good product. what is the difference though between that and the factory one?
  2. Which donut chin slider? There are three of them  Ohh good call on that adjustment. If it is adjusted all the way out then I would not have much adjustment if I cut the chain to size. Thanks man!
  3. I have never installed a swing arm before. I just got it about 99% installed. I still have to do the chain. Its a +4 swing arm and I bought a 120 link chain. I think that I might have to cut a few links off. The carrier is adjusted out (towards the rear) as much as it can be. Do I need to be worried about that for dune riding? What do you guys think about "O" and "X" ring chains? I got an X ring chain so I guess I'll see how that works compared to O ring chains that I have had my entire life on bikes.
  4. Okay so the adjustment on the rear of the stock carrier only adjust chain tention? If that is the case then im good. Thanks for the advice. I turned the adjuster piece around like you said. good call.
  5. Okay so after much drama I got the entire unit in by myself. im going to sleep now BUT can someone PLEASE tell me how the axel needs to be adjusted. From what I am seeing it does not really matter how it is adjusted. The only thing I can see is that how it is adjusted affects brake line length. Is there something else I need to worry about. Please help Thanks
  6. Here is the picture of what i am dealing with. Camera phone picture sorry for the crapy quality!!!!!!!!
  7. Okay well I keep plugin away at it and get the top carrier bolt in and the nut on its just not fully tight. So now im running into drama with placing the axel ajustment pieces in. I can get ONE of them in but there is no room for the other one. What the hell is the problem? Is the swing arm a piece of crap or what? What do you suggest I do? My above questions still also stand. What is the fastest way I could order an extended brake line for the rear? ::
  8. Okay so I have it completely bolted up including shock just the axel and carrier are sitting to the side. DO I need to be concerned about the fact that the bearing seals are not functional anymore even though they fit over the (what im going to call 'pivot point') where the long bolt goes through the frame and the swing arm? They fit pretty good on there. Do you recommend a better type of seal like this? The bolt holes on the chine guide did line up so no extra drilling required there. Thank god. Its cold as fu*k out there and I have no heater outside. I still have to go back outside to reinstall the axel and carrier. Hopefully no more drama. Now my keyboard is all greasy. Does anyone know the torque spec on the pivot point long bolt that goes through the frame and the swing arm? I just tightened the crap out of it so would you say that is good enough? I did, however, have to use an impact wrench to get it off, but I dont want to strip it out by using it to put it on. Okay hopefully there are some replies to this before I get back. Im going to get beer anyone need anything? Much needed. Probably some sierra nevada. Mmmmm sierra nevadaaaa Droooollllllllll
  9. Do I need to figure out how to get the plastic chain roller piece off of the factory swing arm at the pivot point? The e bay one did not come with one. It only came with 2 washers zip tied to it. Where do those 2 washers go? Anything else that I need to know before I install this? Does anyone have any close up pictures of their e bay or similar swing arm that reuses the factory carrier???? ::
  10. Please explain why. :shoothead:
  11. Is there a write up anywhere on how to install one of these? I want to get one soon as a preventative maintenance measure.
  12. The center paddle is larger than the outer two. My uncle had the gecko's on his yzf450 and only rode them one desert trip because he hated them so much. He went out and got sand stars and is now happy again.
  13. THEY WORK AWESOME!!! I used to have Sand Skates I think they are called? They are the ones with 8 cups and they are in a "check" mark style. They hooked up okay and were awesome for turning. Then I got 8 cup hauler style paddles for the bike and they worked awesome for hooking up and sucked ass turning. These new tires ROCK IN BOTH areas! Anyone else have them and like them or not? I ride at Glamis and Gordon's well so its all soft sand.
  14. Oh damn I didn't realize it was that old. Well -- i wonder if he got it fixed.
  15. I think running rich would make you bike run cooler -- running lean, however, would make it heat up quick. I found an air leak on my bro's banshee doing the spray can test. Fixed it before any problems came up. It worked for me. Maybe you don't have an air leak? Damn hard problem to diagnose man I feel bad for you. Its a frekin big waste of $ to drive out to Glamis and have that thing f*ck up again. Where are you located? Im in San Diego.
  16. I unpluged the wire that the first dude said (its by the radiator) and it works fine now. I really need to get a twist throttle soon so I can elimate that bull shit that is on there.
  17. OKAY SO I PUT ON MY 4+ SWING ARM AND THE E BRAKE IS NOT LONG ENOUGH SO WENT REAL QUICK AND TOOK THE ENTIRE E BRAKE CABLE OFF AND THE PIECE ON THE CALIPER AND PUT ON A BLOCK OFF PLATE ON IT. THE FREKIN BIKE WILL NOT REV ANYMORE. I START IT UP AND IT RUNS FINE BUT WHEN I HIT THE GAS IT BOGS AND SOUNDS LIKE CRAP. PLEASE HELP WHAT IS THE FIX FOR THIS DOES IT HAVE SOMETHING TO DO WITH THAT BULL SH*T THROTTLE STUCK BIKE SHUT OFF SYSTEM?
  18. Okay so some say a bigger radiator some say cool head. I guess no one REALLY know which one is better. Might as well get both, right!
  19. The tank works and I would not remove it bottom line. I would, however, remove it if I was racing and/or only haveing the bike run for a SHORT amount of time. Given, I do only ride in the dunes of Glamis and Gordon's Well where tempatures reach over 100 degrees BUT I have proven to myself and you can take it for what its worth. I was at camp (probably sipping on a cold one) when I looked at the coolant bottle from my seat when the bike was cool and it was empty. I said to myself "that is weird" because I changed the oil and cleaned the filter and checked the fluid the night before I left for the desert. So, I go into my camper and grab the 50/50 "mix with any other color coolant" fluid that I happen to have. I always run 50/50 coolant distalled water with water wetter in it and all the coolant is blue. Okay, so, I put the ORANGE coolant that i have into the bottle and I chill for a while eating lunch. I go out on a ride for about 2 hours with some friends. When I get back to camp I look just to make sure that the bottle is not empty and its not BUT the thing is that its ALL blue in the bottle again. Point is that all the orange coolant that I put in the bottle mixed with the blue coolant that was already in the bike, but sinse there was more blue than orange the blue it was mixed with overtook the orange. I would not remove the coolant "overflow" bottle if I was you.
