  5. He has my cylinders and crank. So far, he's returned ALL my calls and has maintained good communication. As stated, all these builders are backed up right now. Patience, besides, he's doing my motor first. :biggrin:

  8. I know what your talking about. I was looking for some myself, so the lights don't get busted up. I never ended up finding any but I was thinking of getting some of the metal, that you can get in home depot, in a sheet. It's in a criss cross pattern (whatever it's called!) and cutting it into circles to fit between the lens and original grill. I ended up getting after market lights, so I never ended up trying it but it might be worth a shot. Broken lenses suck.
  9. Does anyone have one of the bottom engine mounting brackets. Only want a NICE, STRAIGHT one. A bolt that goes into the engine would be a plus but only if it's in good shape. PLEASE, no junk! Thanks in advance.

  11. I'll be starting my bottom end very soon. I'll be adding a cool head, honing or boring one over stock. I have FMF pipes and will eventually add V force reeds. Down the line I might get a light trail port. That's about it for motor work. Should I get the crank true and welded or is it only worth it with big horsepower motors. Thanks for the opinions guys.
  12. Where's the best place to get TZ's? How are the All Balls bearings? Can you get a complete kit with all the bottom end seals? Thanks for any info.
  13. While we're on the subject, in the Clymers, it says to use a flywheel holder.Can I use a strap type, oil filter remover with a friend holding it? If not where's a good place to get one? Thanks guys.

  17. Does anyone know if the Raptor puller is the same size as the Banshee? I'm going to order one but I'll just use my friends if it's the same size. Thanks.
  18. The crank looks good as do the cylinders. I only have FMF Fattys, 280 mains, K&N with the air box modified. That's pretty much it for the engine. It's also stock bore. As I said I wasn't riding when it locked up, so I'm HOPING damage is minimal. Thanks for the replies guys.
  19. I can pick one up for under $100. Are they any good? Do you need to change the bolts or can you use the stock ones? Any feedback is appreciated.
  20. O.K., I was riding and my bike backfired a few times. I noticed the spark plug cap on the left cylinder wasn't fitting tightly any longer.(possibly a factor?) I took the bike home and put it away. The next day I tried starting it. It tried to turn over once then it locked up. I took the top end off and the needle bearing is in a million pieces. The cylinders look fine but the left dome and piston show major signs of detonation. Does this sound like it could have been caused by the bearing falling apart or did the bearing fall apart do to detonation? As far as I know, detonation can be caused by a lean condition at or near full throttle, correct? I run 93 octane at 32:1 and my mods are not that much that I'd need race gas. Also, since I was only starting it when this happened, does it sound like the bottom end just needs to be cleaned out to free the kickstarter? Obviously I know I need to take it apart to see the whole story but I'm just trying to find a starting point, since I've never done a bottom end before. Sorry this is so long but I WILL have MANY more questions as I go along. Thanks in advance for taking the time to read this and for any info. you guys can give. I know I'm in the right place to help me get this done.
