  1. We use between a 2.05 - 2.22 ratio with a 20" tire depending on different factors.
  2. You would be surprised on how we get our times and it's nothing like your last two posts describe.
  3. I'm definitely not lazy. When I feel the need to prove something, I might go back to alky. Until then, I do just fine on race gas.
  4. Here's part of what I said on another site. Now for the clutch stuff. The overall combination is the most important factor in motorsports, but I have to say for asphalt atv drag racing. The clutch is very closely the second most important factor. As for your 60' time, that very well may be an optimum time for that power/set-up. I understand your limited runs, we are in the same boat. I just try and make up for it by making it to the track more. We work hard to make around 150 runs per season.
  5. Alky is faster by about .10 - .15 in ET.
  6. I will always recommend a pump for the 1/4 mile. I will say this, we have successfully been fast on alky with no pump in the 1/4. I choose to run fast on race gas now. I guess the saying once you go to alky, you will not change back to gas; doesn't apply to me. My opinion is gas has a lot less headaches.
  7. We are set at 1/8" toe in and I have thought about using a little more toe in. Increased toe in can be used for increased stability, but will cause wear and drag.
  8. The quad is very twitchy with the smallest of input to the bars. We believe as stated in post #17, it's the steering ratio. So, your observation would change the ratio, but is it the right way? We are also thinking about putting in an adjustable dual direction dampner, but I think that's a crutch.
  9. Here's something I used to explain it a couple years ago. http://www.stockcarracing.com/tipstricks/camber_caster_toe_setup/index.html
  10. That would go the wrong direction. When you lay the strut back (+ Caster) it provides straight line stability. We built it with 15* + caster. I think the problem lies more in the steering ratio.
  11. I'm not going to point anyone in the direction until I get this figured out. If I could change back to my custom double a-arm, I would. It was set-up for really stable steering at 120+ mph. When I get it figured out I will be happy to share the information.
  12. You can get a M/T for a 10" rim. I'm not so sure that's the route you want to go. The American Racer tire in 20X8X10 in the SD23 compound will get the job done. The time slip in the attachment was run on that tire with no burnout. http://i143.photobucket.com/albums/r143/BLK1700/100_0448Medium.jpg
  13. The strut is a Marvin shaw shock. The spindle has to be made custom. I would be more specific in description & photos, but the set-up is not right yet.
  14. We still don't have this set-up the way I like. We need to modify it to hopefully get it where I will be happy. There's nothing wrong with the workmanship, but something is wrong in the geometry. Yes, it has front brakes.
  15. Our Stock frame was set-up with a single a-arm on each side.
  16. What way do you want on the ratio. We ran a 2.58 1st gear last year, made by Robinson.
  17. Give you an idea on how quick you can go with that gearing, less than 4.0 in 330'.
  18. 120mph + and get there pretty darn quick.
  19. Thanks for the reply. As for the drag bike our bike guys are really cool. They have taught us a bunch.
  20. That's cool if you can make it out. Looks like a nice project. Have you raced a bike before? What's the 702 site, I'm not familiar with it.
  21. Winginit, I'll be at the Las Vegas Division 7 Race with the quad on Thurs. Mar. 24 and will be making qualifying runs on Fri. & Sat. We had a few problems with a relay on our first two test sessions this year. Testing went good yesterday at the airport. Bryan
  22. 3 1-6s and 1 1-4 My 1st override lasted me 400+ runs and was a dream.
  23. WCR is the biggest hack I've ever dealt with. After both his/wife's crappy customer service and his kindergarten machine work. Not one of his 4 transmissions worked properly. I got tired of sending stuff back and forth and fixed 1 of the 2 last transmission I got from him. The other one eats the front single fork in 20 runs. The bikes gets pushed to and from the dragstrip with a pit bike.
  24. 4 transmissions from him and he couldn't get one right and the customer service sucked! I ended up fixing the last 2 myself and have not dealt with him again.
