  1. This is a general statement and many other factors play a part. The rear strut needs to be adjustable and the bike needs to be low. The angle of the swingarm plays a big factor on how the quad reacts.
  2. I can't provide the exact formula. It was done by a Engineer that has racing experience. It was put on an excel spreadsheet. I guess I need to look at the Crew Chief Pro software again. I'm sure it provides the same data. I just know what it should or shouldn't look like on the track. I have won a few big money bracket races.
  3. I guess I need to rewrite the guidelines or you need to read them again. This is good questioning and I appreciate it. The tree is not used for eliminations and the faster vehicle uses the staging beams. The slower vehicle gets spotted out 30' for example. The reason for laddering the round for the best race. We don't want the slower vehicle to be out too far on the track. There are pros and cons for both racers. We don't want a cc or class structure for this class. Sorry Skip you can't bill this as a "heads up" class. This is a "Don't Panic" class and that's it, take it or leave it.
  4. I have won the battle. Adding in a "No Scrub Time", this will keep people from using their brakes. The pairing are based off the their qualifying times. Yes, I understand your point of going over the slips. We are talking about entry limit for the 1st year. This will be a track personel intensive class.
  5. Call it what you want, but there's nothing out there like it. It will be pretty hard to bracket/index without looking back or getting out of the throttle. As for scrubbing ET with the brakes. I have a fix for that too, but I'm fighting with Skip over that one. I would like to have an equal/unknown "Scrub Time" added.
  6. You miss interpreted the .05 than your best run. That was used for an example. It can and will change, based on different things. The time will be unknown/equal for all during that round. Thanks for providing input to the class! Bryan
  7. Thanks for the compliment, I wrote the guidelines and Skip has to enforce them. We wanted a class that was totally different than any other. Plus we wanted it to be competitive for any quad racers budget. This is not a bracket or index race, it's a Don't Panic race. It's a new game, nothing like I've seen in my 30+ years of drag racing!
  8. You think that's wild, we have a low 10 sec. Banshee.
  9. My son's desert banshee with toomey pipes and asphalt tires/struts went 13.20s around 82mph.
  10. Funny, but right! Here's the scoop as close as I remember. In the high tens with a stock cylinder 417cc on alky with same rider. I think that was accomplished around 150 passes. We continued with a 443cc cub on alky with .1-.2 ET improvements. At around 500 passes we started running mid to low 10s on race gas. With over 600 1/4 mile passes and the 1st NHRA quad to win a Walley. We are currently testing the new and improved quad with same motor on gas and same riders. Hopefully it will dip into the 9s this year!
  11. If you do a search of the Drag forum you will find your information. We consitently run low 10s with a 443cc cub on race gas, stock frame and a +220 lb rider.
  12. We used a +8 arm with both 12 extremes and 14 haulers. With a 7mm cub, it carried the wheels a couple inches thru the flats/whoops. The settled down nicely of the hill. We ran at Glamis, Dumont and Armagossa. Just a little info for you.
  13. Thanks, I need to call you here one of these days. Need some parts; good for you, but I hate spending the $$$$$$s!!!
  14. I'm assuming you are talking about the single a-arm set-up. The 1st set has been tested in the 1/8 mile @ 105 mph. We made some minor changes for my set. We will be testing mine in the 1/4 mile and over a 120 mph.
  15. Here are some new parts for the rebuild. We left out photos of the spindles until a later time. The single a-arm on each side with spindle only weighs 2.5 lbs. and the swingarm weighs 9 lbs. http://s143.photobucket.com/albums/r143/BLK1700/New%20Frame/New%20Parts/
  16. We are not going back to the sand. I would like too, but I put my family through enough already. I'm staying on asphalt where I belong!
  17. Not run any!
  18. If I remember right we had a good time. Jeff from FAST built your 4mm cub correct? Here's a photo of the freshly painted frame. http://i143.photobucket.com/albums/r143/BLK1700/New%20Frame/100_0620Medium.jpg
  19. Yep, but the only things salvaged was the motor & pipes. Did I talk with you that weekend?
  20. I'm taking a little time to rebuild the quad that almost killed me. I have lots of people to thank for helping me with the build. We will be trying a few things differently this time and hope to be quicker. Here's a few photos. Thanks to Jimmy and Charlie for the frame!!! I guess I'll have to try something different for the photos.
  21. I voiced my opinion on the other site, not going to waste my keyboard again. Who knows, maybe I'm wrong on this one. LOL!
  22. Hmmmmm, I heard this question on another site a couple weeks ago. The answers seem to be the same over hear also.
  23. Yes, it can be done. We went from asphalt to dunes and it worked. The set-ups are totally different. Give us a idea on what you are working with and what you want to accomplish.
  24. We run both the of the softest compound tires from Hoosier and American Racers. No burn out is required for either and we runs low 10s in the 1/4. The last tires I had looked great tread wise after 2 years, but for max performance. They will only be good for about a year. The key to longer life is keep them in the dark and keep them cool.
