  1. Yep, that's what it looks like its for, I didn't know if it was something special about a banshee or what, but it looks like it doesn't let the crank turn over when your pushing the piston down, I guess maybe it makes it easier to keep the rings around the pins. I havent had any problems on the bikes Ive done, usually the crank is hard enough to turn over where you don't even have to hold them.
  2. Ok, I should be getting my cylinders back this week, and I was planning on putting the top end back together. Just had 2 questions before I got started. This is my first Banshee top end assembly, I've done a few dirt bikes before. In Clymer, they show a piston holder tool, and then show you how to make one out of wood. I was wondering if there was anywhere I could just buy one, or if you guys didn't even think it would be worth it to use one(never have on any of the other bikes I worked on) Also, I had the cylinders PCed, and I took the coolant plugs out of the bottom. I bought new ones, and in Clymer they tell you to use Gasgacinch to re-install them. I couldnt find gasgacinch at Pep Boys or NAPA around here, and from what I've seen on the internet it looks like it is just High Temp Silicone. I was wondering what everyone else used if they did theirs. As always, thanks,
  3. :yelrotflmao: Wiseguy huh? Whatsa matter Larry, Curly and Moe already taken?
  4. Bump for ya bro! Havent seen you around here too much anymore, I've been missin those videos of you shootin shit.
  5. Thanks!!! Actually not a heck of a lot on the engine, just a stocker with a cleanup port reeds, cool head, +4 timing, maybe 28mm Keihins and PT Mids(although I'm looking at an RZ engine now), I never had a problem with the power of the bike, just the handling. I'm really shooting for a good reliable bike that I can take on some really really long trail rides. They are the old style lone star arms. I took off the bottoms last night, and this looks like the only way they could go. Doesn't look right to me, but like I said, I've never owned a set of extended a-arms before.
  6. Heh heh, Fire Guy, heh heh. I'd like to see an E85 setup, would be pretty interesting, like the above posters said, make sure your planning on running a stainless steel fuel line, I've heard that the corrosiveness of ethanol can be a big problem for engines.
  7. Yep, they are, they just look weird like that, and I put them on my frame while I was drunk, thanks for the confirm!
  8. Are you guys sure the bottomones are on the wrong side? I tried to swap them side to side today, and the shock mounts on the arms are now where near lining up with the shock mounts on the frame. I'm kinda confused here, I was thinking maybe the pics I have up are right? Any help would be appreciated.
  9. Anyone got a set, lemme know, High Revs or Mids. Looking for something cheap or beat up.
  10. SOLD!! Lemme know how you want payment. :yelrotflmao: :yelrotflmao: :yelrotflmao: :yelrotflmao: :yelrotflmao: :yelrotflmao: :yelrotflmao:
  11. That's what I thought when I was looking at the bike, but I'm thinking there's no way I fucked them up that bad. Thanks for the info dude, guess I have a litte more work to do on the front end(on a day when I'm alittle more sober).
  12. I never put on or have owned a set of exntended a-arms before until these that I bought, I was half drunk when I put them on, and now they don't look right, I think the lowers might be swapped side to side. I tried to compare them to my stockers, but my stockers are like perfect triangles, they look almost like they could go on either side(I know they can't though) Anyway, here's some pics, can anyone tell me if I installed these right? This makes me kinda wonder if I put my bottom end back together right. :yelrotflmao:
  13. Most fun bike I've ever ridden.
  14. Let's see some pics!!!!! I dont have one, but I'd kill to get one in decent shape round here, I've heard they are awesome bikes, and a 2 stroke to boot.
  15. If your looking to sell the all electronics(flywheel, CDI, stator, harness, etc.), cylinders with PVs and head, and flanges for shee pipes all in one shot, shoot me a PM. Jay
  16. Steel You can polish it, but you would want to have it clearcoated after.
  17. That's the best part!!!! I miss all the swearing, the tantrums, and the backyard engineering. :yelrotflmao: Seriously though, I remember those days, those are the best projects, enjoy it while it lasts man.
  18. Come on John, you know you got a use for those purple rears!
  19. I have a 2001 that I'm rebuilding this year still on its original bore. I bought it in 2003 and I don't know how many hours the original owner had on it, but I put maybe around 150 hours or so on it since with regular maintenance, good jetting, and basic mods. The compression was at 100psi when I tested it last summer before I tore it apart so it probably could have gone a little longer yet. There are a lot of factors that will determine how long you can go until a rebuild though.
  20. Yeah, won't hurt anything, +4 timing gives you a little more low end, thats all. I say double it because after pulling everything apart youll end stripping bolts, busting bearings, and all the like, a few trips to the delaership to order parts and youll be up there. I had a budget for my build, and now Ive just given up.
  21. Looks ugly as hell. Try a Tag or Duncan bumper, they are a lot better looking. By the way, do you have chrome stock pipes on your bike??
  22. What exactly do you need done?
  23. However much your plan on spending, double it, that's the way it usually works for me. Looks like you got some good stuff there. I wouldn;t do a degree key though, they have a tendency to shear apart, I would get a Ricky Stator Timing Plate instead.
  24. Bought them there hubs off ya, I'll be sendin out that MO tomorrow. Awesome prices! Standup guy! How can you go wrong?
