1400 isn't bad. Cylinders are $1000, new Pistons $200, Head $150, new Custom Domes $100, Porting $400, Polishing $150.
So thats $600 in savings for a pretty much new setup fresh from millenium. Maybe Boo will take this setup off your hands.
Need to make a correction here. I had a typo. Thats 1.55 and 1.60 with no bar. I had a few in the low 1.5's and a couple in the 1.4's.. But nothing consistant
And it took me almost the whole season to get back into the 1.5's
Sorry its late and I just noticed
my 60's were between 1.45 and 1.50 with no bar. Best ET with that setup was a 4.11 backed up the next pass with a 4.14 with my 220lb ass on it. This was in my stock chassis. That setup hooked hard wether you want to beleive it or not. Probably could have gotten my 60's lower with a bar and my trans not messin up on me. Lots of people like to over paddle when you can get the job done by spending time getting the chassis setup right.
When I got my drag chassis I switched to 14 pdl and my 60's increased to 1.7's Took me almost the whole season to get it back down into the 1.4's
Might aswell get over it... People post things on the net, and others will make opinions. Your rants here wont change anything. I'd just push on and save yourself the stress. Have a nice day.
asumming he's using atleast a +14 arm. Probably a 14 extreme staggerd or 12 ripper in a 76-80RO. Even in soft sand a 18 ripper is WAY too much. I'll be using 16 extreme staggerd on my 14mil DM. (649cc) If he'susing a +12 or less.. I'd use even less paddle.. maybe a 13-14pdl extreme. My 4mil cub was a handfull with 13 extremes and a +12 arm. There is alot of variable that need to be factored in. Chassis setup, driven gear ratio (assuming he's using straight cuts wich I hope he is), rider weight and type of riding play a huge part in paddle selection.
If he's hill shooting. He'll probably want a 13-14 pdl extreme in a 73RO maybe less, Maybe one of the Hill guys will chime in.
I'd like to know who did the case work and porting?.
theres a few people around that run that much power.. but we need a lil more info to help out.
Chassis setup. 300' or hill racing?
Also.. Paddle height for the extreme and hauler are the same (7/8"). Difference is the thickness of the blades. The extremes are 1/8" thicker then the standard hauler.
I was running 14 pdl extremes @ 2lbs with no problems. I'd break the tire down and clean the beads and rim really good. By upping the tire pressure you'll loose traction wich isn't what you want either.
power differnce between the two is about 2-5hp depending on the builder. The 4mil super cubs have to be ported or they will make less power over a unported cub.
also.. Probably need to adjust the clutch under the cover. Was your clutch adjusted correctly before you installed the cable?? arrows line up on the cases?
The cubs do need porting even out of the box.. But its very minimal. They need what most people call a "clean up" port wich is basicly smoothing and cleaning up casting flaws. And most builders will do this when they sell the cub.
A unported cub will still run extremely well. Porting on cubs wont yeild the gains like it does on stock cylinders since they come with drag port timings out of the box.
It will cost alot more money to get stock cylinders to make the same power as a cub. Not saying it can't be done.. But the portwork will be time consuming and exspensive.
Thats up to you man... If your talking$$$ value wise.. its in the ball park. But your the one that will have to ride it. So it the end.. It only matters if you think its worth it.
Yeah... I got a few black eyes.. lol
Them Time slips are some persistant bastards... No matter how many you throw away.. they just keep coming back!! lol
It'll never be finished... you'll always want to go faster. I'm already looking for NOS kits for my build.
