  1. you still have to buy the right parts.. then you still have to tune them.. Timing, compression, dome designs. Its finding the right combo with all the parts to find that sweetspot. Some motors like high timing, low compression.. while others are oposite. My motor really liked high compression (195lbs) and high timing (13 degrees on the plate) now this setup isn't going to be optimal for most people.. but it was for me. Your builder can give you a idea of where to start then you gotta take it from there and just keep trying different stuff. I guess thats the best I can describe it.
  2. Definate NO on the rippers. Way too much paddle.
  3. Just curious, Who's dyno was that on? NM... I dont wanna know. I'm done. Party on guys!
  4. I dont know what your top speed would be.. I dont run anything farther then 500' Maybe a 1/4 guy will chime in. There is some formula's and calculators that can figure that out also. But why would you run 17/39 on a trail bike?
  5. I like the 39pwk's myself for the 4mil cubs..
  6. Thats all in your gearing.
  7. Tuning a bike is more then just jetting.. its finding the right compression, timing, carbs and pipes, ect.... and making it all work together. There is also "chassis tuning" wich is pretty much the same thing.. Getting all the parts to work their best together.
  8. 4mil is only good for 5-7 more hp. Wich is why I said 80hp and not 85hp for this guys setup. Dune ported stock cylinders with T-5 and stock carb make 70hp. I saw a A&S trail port with stock carbs and T-5's make 68hp. We race with a 392 cub and he's putting down 110+. My 4mil was 115+. Every dyno is different but I think its safe to assume he'd be making 5-7hp less the Dajogejr's bike since they had identical setups.. with both bikes being in equal state of tune. I'm mainly trying to point out that this guys setup is capable of 80HP.. I'm asuming this guy has the bike dialed in and knows what he's doin.. as I do with everyone untill they show me otherwise.
  9. Dajogejr's 4mil cub on gas with the same setup as this guy made about 85hp on the dyno with just a clean up port.. (not sure on exact numbers, I havn't seen the dyno sheet in awhile) So I think thats a pretty good base line to guesstamate his setup. Alot of variable here as mentioned... But 80hp (give or take a few) out of a 392 cub with that setup should be near that.
  10. Was a leak down ever done on the motor? I saw it was on the "things to check" list but looks like you started messin around with other stuff first.
  11. The difference between a dune bike and a drag bike is that you dont have the time slips slapping you in the face to go faster.
  12. should ring in around 80hp.. give or take a few hp depending on the state of tune.
  13. A leak down should be the first thing done. If its got a air leak.. you'll be like a dog chasing its tail.
  14. These are probably custom cut domes, Rather then shelf domes.. Going rate for custom cut domes is around $100
  15. here's where I put mine. Can't see it at all when the plastic is mounted.
  16. I wouldn't lighten the frame if it will see any kind of "Play" riding... If your buddy has a 4mil cub and you want to beat him.. Probably going to have to build a 10mil cub. A lock up and overide are going to be needed. You could build a 4mil cub.. but. you said cash wasn't a issue.. so build the 10mil.
  17. I think it was like 20 bucks for the crush tube and spacers... Dont quote me on that.. but it was around there. Not sure on what they want for bearings.
  18. there is two lil spacers that go between the bearnins and the housing on the inside (one on ea. side)... and yeah the crush tube is that big tube insed. I got all the parts from mod quad when I converted my carrier over to 40mm So if your putting the bearings in.. you'll have the crushtube in the middle.. then spacer.. then your bearings... then the seals.
  19. You'll need spacers and a different crush tube also... its a lil more then just a bearing swap.
  20. Probably 43-47hp
  21. lol I'll let you tell him the story... It wouldn't sound right coming from a stanger.... Dad's peeping at other mommies, stalking guys and what not.. It just wouldn't be right... :yelrotflmao:
  22. I havn't heard anything yet.. but its looks like I'm about a month or so out before this hog fires up. I got money banked for my pipes.. now I just need to get my lectrons, throttle cable and a new pancake bearing from packard. Thats gonna be a hard chunk of change to come up with..
  23. Why you need a peeping buddy? lol I'll pass..
  24. I agree.. In dusty conidtions.. if you want to protect that motor... Tacky oiled foam.. I havn't ever used the no-toil filters.. but i'm sure they're good. The only foam filter i'm not really a fan of is the Uni filters.. I like the twin-air filters because the stages are bonded together rather then loose.
  25. Lol Dave has a stalker. Hes got pictures of his ol'lady and wants to meet him. Next thing you know he'll be camping in Dave's bushes in front of his house with lawn chairs and binoculars. :ninja: :yelrotflmao:
