  1. theres a guy here in town selling one that he re did, he wants 3K for it. its an '89 that looks like its in excellent condition. i havent seen it run tho.i have a phone # if anyone is interested
  2. the beds are small on these trucks (mine is 7ft x ~54" wide longbed), DLX v6 model more then likely his '89 has the even smaller bed (most common) 2 maybe 3 people should easily be able to lift the bed off the frame after 1st removing the tailgate. then you should be able to access the trap door on top of the fuel tank
  3. my '88 yota 4x4 has the same problem with the gas guage...i just make sure i keep it full. every 5 days or so, i top it off
  4. well, the pilot jet had one tiny little speck of dirt in it. carb cleaner wouldnt blow it out so i had to take a bread tie wrap wire and clean it. that cured all issues shees back to normal. both plugs are back to a brownish color and all seems well! on the compression test, i didnt warm the bike up but for about 30 seconds before doing it. i think that is why the numbers are low. i'll perform another test next weekend with a good amount of warm up time before hand just to make sure but i'm confident the quick warm up is why the were low. thanks for the help/ideas guys!! MM
  5. i walked both screws in and then backed them out 2 full turns on both carbs. i noticed that the right carb slide moves just a cunt hair sooner (barely barely noticeable) then the left carb does when engaging the throttle. but that shouldnt be anything i would think i need to address. you really have to be looking to notice that at all
  6. OK, compression test results in ~108psi in both cylinders (bike wasnt completely up to operating temp, only semi warm). i found that when the choke is out, either half or all the way, the right exhaust has the same amount of pressure coming out of it as the left does. when the choke is closed, then the right cylinder is not working properly and you have to give it alot of throttle for it to show the same amount of exhaust pressure as the left side. both reeds look fine and look to be in good operating order. took the float bowl off and removed the main jet, float and fuel valve and cleaned with carb cleaner. i didnt mess with the pilot jet at all tho...could this be part of my problem related to the choke? also checked the crankcase fluid and it is full so i dont think a crankseal is an issue from what i have read about it from searching on here i'm still figuring out this whole carburation thing, so thats where i need direction. any ides about the choke thing?
  7. maybe this will help the sale or something... what kind of power increase can one expect over a motor stock T5 piped shee with those CPI's in good running condition and jetted accordingly? EDIT; wanna sell the 2 into 1 CV setup?
  8. havent done one yet. i will be doing that next weekend. oh, i also disconnected the TORS box and the switch at the throttle.
  9. spark has to be good, otherwise the plug would be black and carboned up. not whiteish...right? or you just thinking maybe an intermittent issue with the spark firing? after tonite, i wont be able to respond until this coming weekend...
  10. EDIT: oops, title is suppose to read "need some direction" not "new some direction" shee started acting up on me last weekend. didnt go riding this weekend because of it. right cylinder is lean. plug was semi white in color. left side is a milky brown (looked good to me). the right side exhaust pipe doesnt kick out as much pressure as the left side does (tell by looking at it and sticking your hand over it). when i rev it up some, it will sputter and backfire a bit out of the right side and run fine for a few moments and then continue like its choking. when i rode it last weekend, after engaging a higher gear, it would stumble for a second and then pick up and haulass (caused me to lose a race with another banshee and a modded 450r ) obviously its getting spark otherwise the plug wouldnt be whiteish... i changed out plugs (BR8ES before and after) just to see if that would help...and it didnt. i took it down to the reed on the right side. because thru searching on here i had read that a torn reed can cause an issue like this...it looked intact and clean to me. no apparent leaks in the intake tract. the choke crossover tube is and was in place have i narrowed it down to a compression test and a carb issue or are there other things i could also be checking? this just came out of nowhere and it ran fine every other time i rode it with no symptoms at all... i run yamalube at 40:1 with 93 octane. any ideas? thanks MM
  11. i sent him some shocks i had for sale before he payed for them. like we agreed upon. he promptly sent out the payment to me after he recieved them. we had good communication during the transaction. i'd recommend him as a great buyer or seller to deal with on here! thanks Dan EDIT: just realized its "FasterThanU90" with an "a" Steve
  12. thanks! i found 2 locally yesterday. didnt get a chance to update thisi until today. thanks for all the offers guys MM
  13. went riding there yesterday for my 1st time, i am hooked!!!!! well worth the 2.5hr drive i have to make. anyone else going?
  14. whats the deal with this? it sticks closed to where i have to pry sometimes with 2 hands to get it open. what a PITA. is there any easy fix for this? common issue? also, it looks like the splines on my shifter are stripped out and the bolt will not tighten down enuf to keep it in place any more. whats a good cheap upgrade or fix? it cant fall off because the peg wont let it slde far enuf to come completely off, just makes it difficult to select gears sometimes. caused me to get stuck on a steep hill climb yesterday because i couldnt upshift.
  15. Excitebike rocked sorry, no mini for me...
  16. yep, you want to know what the temp is when exiting the motor, not entering it. guage should be displaying the hottest, not the coolest
  17. it can be the painted silver color or better yet, the black one from the LE's. i had a mishap with a tree today and bent the piss out of mine lol MM edit; or an aftermarket one for the right price/model, no chrome tho.
  18. there ya go Adam, thats a good looking bike!! "Ls7Colorado", if you were to guess, how many hours would you say are on it? how many kicks to fire when cold? what fuel/mixture do you run it at? ever been rebuilt? still have TORS?
  19. i thought street legal also meant, atleast 1 mirror, turn signals, dot tires and a license plate with light....states probably differ tho
  20. point well taken! i am a once a week rider (not by choice). i do jump stuff. i did bottom out before these. for my needs (and i think most others that do this mod), they are sufficient. for someone who rides regularly and or races, that type, then the money on something else would be justified IMO. just not in my case.
  21. i somewhat agree with you... but its an upgrade over factory shee shocks, no? put your shee shocks on a 450 and see which you would rather have on there. did your $312 elkas need rebuilding? if so how much did you have into them after?
  22. this is just for my own information. so dont flame about dynos and HP #'s and all that jazz, i iam well aware how they work, what they are for and why etc. just curious what are the limits of the shee's power WITHOUT overboring, stroker crank or nitrous.? looking for max power potential info from bolton stuff without miachine work being involved or drag pipes (inframes only).
  23. 16oz of yamalube into my 5 gallon container, followed by 5 gallons of gas measured at the pump. 40:1 i use a VP 5 gallon round jug with the screened pour spout
