Its how many springs the shock has (triple = 3, dual = 2). They use muli-rate spring setups so there can be progression in the spring rates. On a regular preloaded shock setup, the softest spring will be compressed first when you hit something. This is happening mostly when you're on level ground, so the soft spring gives you a nice ride. You hit something harder and use up more than half the travel (or third of the travel for a triple rate), then that soft spring is compressed all the way, and the stiffer spring is now the one thats being compressed. Helps to absorb the energy of harder landings. A triple rate simply divides the shock travel into thirds, with each spring taking over one portion of the travel. I think works is the only company that will make a triple rate for the banshee since its such a short shock. But do to the design of the suspension, its not that bad to have a double rate. The shock is mounted close to frame, so the first part of the a-arms swing, it doesn't move the shock as much for each inch of wheel travel. As you get close to bottoming out, the a-arm levels out and starts using more shock travel for each inch of wheel travel. Its like a natural progression is already built into the design of the front end.

Well then, sounds like we need to get together and buy that man a pound of coke so he can hurry the hell up. :yelrotflmao:

Yeah, 800x600 has gone the way of the dodo now. Most people are running 1024x768 (and last I payed attention, its shifting even higher to 1280x1024, which is what I run). I used to not like the high resolutions until I took the time to make all my font sizes bigger, and now I can't live without it. Really nice having that much more screen real estate. If I were you, Id just move up to 1024x768 and learn to love it. 63% more space than 800x600.

look at this freaking turbo
dawarriorman replied to Mullet Man's topic in General Banshee Discussion
But torque isn't what wins races. Hell, I can gear a brigs and stratton engine to put down 200 ft lbs of torque at the rear wheels, but it will only being turning at 100 rpm. Torque is a measure of force only, horsepower is a measure of work. Work is what gets something from point a to point b. Say theres 2 cars, a big block with 500 lb of torque at 5k rpm, and a turbo car with only 350 lbs of torque at 10k. Of course you'd think the big block would take it, but when the turbo car is making that 350 lb ft of torque, its spinning twice as fast as the big block. Gear it down to 5k rpm the same as the big block, and suddenly its making 700 lb ft of torque. The big block has 476 hp with the turbo car makes 666 hp. Get it? Torque is only useful if you can rev too. Having huge torque down low simply makes it easier to take off fast, you don't have to work the clutch to keep it in the power, you simply dump it and even though the engine revs down, it still has plenty of torque. Get someone that can launch the turbo car right, riding it near the torque peak and it will launch every bit as fast as long as the tranny is geared right. -
All I want to know is what does he do that makes them worth the wait. Seriously. Is it just his experience that your paying for, his know-how in valving a shock? He can't be that busy, nobody uses his stuff anymore. Everyone has jumped ship to elka. I can't blame them either, they'll sponsor about anybody, and get your shocks to you quick. If they aren't valved spot on, so what, send them out to someone else. Hell, in the time it would take to get a set of PEPs, I could get shocks from elka, then send them to Todd at TCS, get them back from Todd as good of a shock as PEP would send me. Then I could still race a whole season.

Don't you mean "How would one remove the seat from one's Banshee (The most amazing machine ever created on this planet called earth)?" :yelrotflmao: -
Gas works great, but slowly destroys the filter. Best thing I've found is PJ1 cleaner and oil in aerosol cans. Cleaner works great, just spray and let it sit for 15 minutes, then wash with water (and soap if necessary). And the aerosol oil is SOOO much easier than stuff in a bottle. Just spray inside and out until its coated, then knead the filter. Do it a couple times and you'll never over or under oil a filter.

This must be too good to be true. -
well here is the new quad from ktm/polaris merge
dawarriorman replied to helldriver's topic in General Banshee Discussion
Yeah, but you're comparing a brand new quad to a 20 year old design. Look at the yfz, it weighs 350 lbs dry. You get an IRS quad to 350, and I'll build a straight axle quad that weighs 300. You won't be able to get ahead. IRS has its uses, but it isn't the best thing imaginable. Its simply more suited to certain tasks. -

dawarriorman replied to helldriver's topic in General Banshee Discussion
MX is what is going to drive the high-performance market for the near future at least. And IRS does NOT have any advantage there. All you get is body roll. Think what you want, but straight axles aren't going anywhere any time soon. Besides, you'll never get the weight down as low. -
Stay away from them! You get one of the hurt enough, and the story will come out to someone's parents. And your buddy will get thrown in jail. Happened to a friend of mine a few years ago, he was only in for 2 years, but it will fuck up the rest of his life. Registered sex offender isn't something that he wants.

Im 99% sure I remember someone saying that the calipers bolt right up to banshee spindles. And they did say there was a noticable difference too. Id go for it.
-
If its rated to 1400 it should be fine. You'll be close, but the EGT would have to be higher than 1400 for the pipes to get that hot, and you'll be blowing a motor at that point.
-
When you say under power, do you mean you aren't clutching or letting off the gas? If so, thats your problem. The transmission isn't built to do that. Thats why people get overrides.
-
I do know that an air ratchet will do it too, it just takes some patience.
-
Shit, Id be willing to invest if you were going to get a company off the ground. I bet quite a few other people would be willing to as well. Blackbeast has obviously done some homework, and would be a good partner. Just got to make sure its not going to be illegal emissions wise, people have to be able to ride them in CA (glamis). The things I can think of off the top of my head that haven't been mentioned is stuff like advertising. You get yourself in the magazines (dirt wheels) with a nice article and some good ads, and your set. That will cost quite a bit though. And your going to have to get someone racing it somewhere. Right now if Im not mistaken, it couldn't race in the pro classes anywhere (fucking ATVA decided that production classes should be 4 stroke only), although possibly GNCC.

Ok, the whole "av gas is for high elevations" is a load of crap. Its a myth, nothing more (think crop dusting, they stay a few hundred feet the whole time). Do the research if you want, I already have. Its gas, plain and simple. It runs great in a 2 stroke engine, with no consequences. It doesn't run any hotter than other gas, it won't make you run leaner, it won't cause you to lose throttle response or anything else that people try and tell you about it. Find anything that PROVES its not as good as other gas with FACTs. You won't, the only thing you will find is people trying to lead you around in circles with bad logic to make you think its not any better.

Where to get custom throttle cable?
dawarriorman replied to Whitey's topic in General Banshee Discussion
Terrycable does them, and Im pretty sure Motion Pro will too. -
While it sounds like a good idea, the only problem I see is why even bother. If theres the slightest idea of scam in my mind, I don't even bother. Plus there could be liability if you tell someone its not a scam, and it is and they lose big time.

Hey, at least you can back down your hills. Quite a few of the ones in the clay pits are well... clay. You don't get enough traction to stop on the hill, you don't make it, your coming back down in a baad way. I've seen a few quads that were total losses, engines ripped free of mounts, swingarms and a-arms broke off, frames bent like hell. Seen a couple people get life flighted out of there.
-
Doubtful it was the AV gas that caused it, its lead contents are comparable with race gas. And lead isn't going to mess up a 2 stroke at all.
-
Every once in awhile, but not too often. I usually use it for a mod, True Combat Elite. Kind of like counterstrike, only a little different.
-
If you don't need high octane gas then there is no point in switching. It won't give you any performance increase. But it will cost you more.
-
Ok, try again. Heres a shot while compiling updates.
