I'm looking for a black OEM radiator and tank shroud(in good-decent cond) for my shee. The current red plastics don't mix well with the new dark red I'm going with. If anyone has any and would like to sell them or even swap/trade with me I'd be very grateful. I won't be able to buy anything until after the 1st( I'm tapped out money wise due to x-mas)

Awesome Find....This should be a pinned thread

The domes that are in it are the same from when I picked it up from you. So Gap to.023?? Yeah I couldn't believe I almost forgot about the needle bearings. Thanks everyone for the compliments...I can't wait to get it running either... I just need to find some pipes and I will be in business. And for shits and giggles I'm thinking about painting the spark plugs (the part you can see anyway) but I may or may not so it, We'll see if I have paint left over.

Ok OK....Just got in from the garage and the engineis now in the frame. I got the pistons on and the cylinders on with the help of my lovely wife. I had a bit of a scare installing the pistons though. As I was putting the wrist pin I saw that something wasn't right and couldn't figure it out at first and then it hit me....the wrist pin Needle bearings...I had to go to the Shop and buy the last set they had. Got home and got everything put together. Istalling the engine wasn't that bad. I had it almost in whe it wouldn't go no more and I realized I had to remove one of my "CUSTOM" spark plugs. Got everything connected and all the mounting bolts tight and ready to go. I had to remove the rear mounting bolt becasue the chain was caught between the frame and engine case but no big deal. During the engine installation my wife helped me once again, which saved me alot of time and effort. She doesn't mind getting down and dirty with her manicured nails. Before I put the head on I ran the pistons up and down a few times to make sure the piston rings weren't going to catch on anything and to make sure the P.V.'s weren't going to catch the piston. Everything looked ok and didn't feel anything catching so I installed the head and bolted it on. All I have to do now is gap the spark plugs, fill the radiator with some engine ice, install the carbs, tomorrow I hope, and wait for some pipes . Well now what You all have been waiting for..some pics Kai what do I gap the spark plugs to?? Engine completely assembled Engine in the frame

LOL...Yeah custom plugs alright....Bansheeseat$$ said the plugs were shot anyway so I used them as plug for the so paint wouldn't get in there and I used them as something to pick the head up with so I wouldn't touch the paint on the head.. Once I get the head on I'll take them out and put some good ones in. UPDATE UPDATE......So there I was sitting on my milk crate cleaning out my carbs trying not to spray myself in the eye with carb cleaner, AGAIN, when the UPS truck pulls up. I was thinking my wife X-mas present was here.....NOPE...Trinity came through and I now have my pistons... You know what this means...Yep the engine will be in the frame TODAY... Give me a couple hours and I will be in the hunt for some CPI in-frame pipes(Small bore) HINT HINT since that will be the only thing keeping me from riding this thing.....Pics when I get a chance.

Iknow I know and it's killing me....I should have it all put together ready to run by Friday...then after that I have to find a set of pipes before I can kick it over.....that's going to be the killer :shoothead: All put together but can't ride it.

As I promised....More pics. The head is painted with a gloss Black 500 Deg. Engine Enamel. The head and grill are painted the same color, Medium Garnet red metallic,. It has a metallic flake to it that I really liked and really catches your eye in the sun. I tried to get some pics of the metallic flake but my digital camera isn't all that great but here are the pics. Cylinder Grill Head

Now you see why I really want your hubs...I should have some more pics up in a couple hours..

I wasn't sure where to put this so I hope I put it in the rigth section. Ok so it's not a 100% rebuild, just a top end rebuild with the engine out of the frame but it's a cheetah so it's special right?? Anyway I finally got my pistons and gasket set ordered from Trinity and they said they should be here Wed. or Thurs. so either way the engine should be back in the frame on Friday. I just prep'ed and sanded the head and cylinders and sprayed them with some Hi temp Engine paint(Gloss Black). Once those are dry I will pull the head and sand it down again and re-spray it with a dark red color on a black base coat. Tomorrow I will attack the engine and start on the billet side covers and clean them up and polish them until they're nice and shiny or as some people say "Bling Bling". Here are some pics as it sits right now and when I get the engine done I will post some more pics.

Ok people I have a 100% stock '01 660 raptor that I may be aquiring in the next month or so. I don't have any use for it and was wondering if anyone would have interest in the entire thing or parts off of it. This was my roommates(who has since moved out) and had no where to store it when he moved and I said he could keep it here. The top end(head, cylinder, piston) is off due to the engine being completely torn apart due to the shift drum lever breaking causing it to go into reverse on it own when ever it wanted. We had to split the cases open. While it was open we (I) replaced the tranny with a tranny for a '03 since the '01 trannies were notorious for going out and new case bearings. While the engine was out I stripped the frame down and had it repainted Yamaha blue. Got everything put together and to where it sits now. The engine is in the frame. He said that he would come over and work on it during the weekends to get it running etc. Well that never happened. I've done all the work and paid for all the work that I didn't do myself. I had to have the valve seats re-cut due to something letting loose in the engine and chewing the seats up. I had all the valves replaced, all the seats re-cut etc. All that needs done to get it running is the cylinder needs re-honed or bored out, new piston, and everything put back together(top end wise). While he was removing things he rfound that the lower bolts to the water pump cover were stripped and JB welded on. A new o-ring is installed but the bolt threads in the case need retapped or a heli-coil put in. For me to do it would cost about $400 and that is a high guess. The head light brackets were broken off during the transportation here and need replaced but I do have the head lights. If I* was to guess as to how much I put into the thing I would guess about $1500(paint, parts/labor bought, extra material, parts I had to buy due to his screw ups etc.) If anyone has any interest let me know. He is trying to go back to the east coast and he said if it wasn't running by the time he left I would acquire it. I don't the time or money now that I have a new cheetah engine I need to get together. Sorry my bike takes prioirty over his. The only thing I may claim if it's parted out are the hubs.

The angle isn't that great. You get to se my helmet visor and the front of my shee and trhe ground. Thiswas the forst attempt to mount it to my helmet so I had to fix it little by little. You can bash on me all you want on how my throttle control.....I was in 3rd most of the time and was taking it easy, warming up before I went to the big jumps. This was also right after I got it running right so I was doing a lot of listening to the motor.

I use a small Sony digital recorder. I got my helmet cam that plugs into the camcorder for like $250. That was the camera, microphone, battery and a universal mount. The website has a crap load of accesories. I bought mine about 3 years ago and from the cameras they have on there now makes mine look like crap. I will try to find a video and post it up in a new thread.

Ok I was wondering the hubs from a 01 660 will fit on a banshee?? I thought that Yamaha tried to keep the parts somewhat interchangable.

When doing a Compression Test?
Handyman replied to Turbobanshee_kid's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
When I first bought my 99 it would start on the first couple kicks. I did a comp test due to some other issues and found that when cold the compression was about 110 on both sides. After I warmed it up the compression would drop to below 80. That's how I found a needed to do my top end, otherwise I would have never known. Bike ran a hell of alot better afterwards -
