In my hunt for some paddle tires I came across a lot of threads about tire size and how important it was to choose the correct size for dragging/hillshooting because of gearing set ups and what gear you will be launching in...Now why is that a critical piece of info???
Ok I kinda figured it out on my own and doing a little reading that, for example, a 2-5 override tranny is consists of gears 2,3,4&5 and that you slam through the gears at full throttle without the clutch but once you come off the gas you have to pull the clutch in at the same time to avoid bending the shift forks and to avoid backload of the tranny(Hope I have the terminology right) Ok my question is why do you line up and launch in second gear? Why don't you start in 1st and go through all the gears?? I don't have an override tranny,,,still the stock trannny with aftermarket clutch basket and plates... Thanks in advance..
