  1. Hmm, how did that go about 10 years ago? Oh ya' " You wouldn't know where to begin except to start rolling cones" Haha, never understood what tom meant by that. Usually I'd think it was good that a fella knew how to design by hand, then let a couple yutzez dye it up and weld the stamps...
  2. Hope and a prayer accompanied with race fuel, lots of compression, and timing may help....
  3. Remember, you are huge! You would tend to load a motor up and get it making heat way quicker. Definitely possible it ran "fine" with CPI, but how did it run with anything else? The differences between small bore and big bore when it comes to shearers and CPI are vast. Especially since even the big bore CPI's are even aimed at producing a bit more torque, where as the shearers tend to really thrive on RPM's. And if some one has a stock stroke stock cyl that "rips" on big bore shearers.... Wait till you see it run how it should. (Exceptions given when creativity meets welding or epoxy) You meet so many guys who feel that because something goes through all 6 gears and beat their buddy's whatever blah blah bike, it must run good. Then they finally swing a leg over a real monster and suddenly everything they knew is changed.

  5. Load capability is something I'd wonder about, but it wouldn't surprise me if just about any later model master was up to the task. Any interest in street bike stuff?
  6. That is a good time.
  7. Probably not needed, but I see where you're coming from.
  8. The dude in the video says they go for $850.
  9. Very old news, those two have had bad blood since tom owned Rocket. Google alcoholic Bhq. Good stuff...
  10. You are on lean side for sure. Not much. Just with box mods and cold air, the motor will want a bit more fuel

  12. Why do you hate those poor cylinders so much? Haha, what are you up to? Is this your sacrificial research or someone else's photos?
  13. Guys who hot lap their motors will produce heat exponentially as each run is made. Heat soak refers to when the motor has been ran to the point that it is starting to produce so much heat that power begins to fall off. It creates a flat feeling up top in the rev. What's going on is that a motor is now creating more heat then the exhaust can move out of the motor. Typically motors up to 500 CC's will make their best power on small bore pipes. (This isn't always the case) However, just because a motor makes it's best power after one run on small bores, you create a whole new set of variables when you take that same combo and run it over and over. Especially on race fuel motors with a good amount of compression and timing. They make a considerable amount of heat. So, no real answer if you need Small or big bore. Kinda one of those things you gotta figure out through trial and error. I've seen guys run their bike on 300' sand on shearer small bores, out at the dunes that same motor rams better on the shearer big bores since it can get ran for about 5-10 runs back to back. There will be some variances in results between different pipe brands.
  14. Nieskes is correct on that being an old superior sleeve set up. Not a total turd if the right hands were on them. Alky, just purge it after every day of riding.
  15. Thank god it was a junk cylinder you're experimenting with...
  16. This is bitchin'! https://www.speedycom.co.uk/shop/home.php?cat=655
  17. Por15, then undercoat. Por15 only works if there is some rust though. No good on clean metal as it needs the iron oxide from the rust to react.
  18. God speed and best of luck to all of you on that project.
  19. Pretty slick, I've seen Andy's stuff and that's a possibility.
  20. Exactley what I meant by doing a street bike rear set. Think I'm gonna try a different lever combo I found a pic of, then start looking at rockets and cruiser bikes.
  21. I definitely don't need to take it that far. Thought about push button stuff, but really I think I'll be ok if I just get the shifter up and out of the nerf nets a bit. Maybe some type of rear set like the street bikes.
  22. I saw a slick set up on a yfz450. Curious if they are the same. I'm banking on cutting the factory nub and bending some mini tube or something.
