  1. It's a long shot, but are these gas?
  2. Funk is dripping on top of the cases and working through the drain hole right between where the reeds sit.
  3. Tony Doukas is decent. I buy part from him, but never had a motor built or machined there though. Duncan was a big name when banshees were still kind of in the main stream for TT/enduros, likes peak, and desert racing, however IMO they are not keeping up to date with what other guys are doing. Rightfully so, they have moved on to support the four strokes as they are the dominant force in sanctioned racing. Look in to the site sponsor list and start making calls. See who gets you feeling all warm and fuzzy.
  4. When is the last time you had an AIDS test?
  5. In my nobody opinion, just put two Maxloads on it. The TZ's aren't to happy with the stock helical gears pulling on them. At a minimum if you do keep the TZ, get full clips for the bearing instead of the half moon. Again people are out there claiming it works with out straight cuts, but my first experience I had the same issue. Parts of the TZ made it in to the motor and goodbye crank. So for me, I just max load them. Even on my straight cuts.
  6. No sooner then they ran their first batch a few years ago they were instantly engulfed in supply issues. Lead times were lofty and unknown, and this became the standard. When mine came it wouldn't even fire the bike and it was kind of a cat and mouse game to even get it exchanged. So long RaceTech Electric!
  7. It's used because it's light. In the one of the posts you qouted earlier, it said minimal structural applications. So yes, NASA and Aviation branches definitely use Ti, but it's not a strength issue so much as a weight issue. Remember, there are lots of steel parts in those machines as well. But when you need to blast a rocket miles beyond the atmosphere, weight is a major factor.
  8. Yeah that's true, plenty of big cylinders available.
  9. Janky coolant will rust parts if it's leaking in to the cylinder. Also, about the TZ coming apart. Does it have straight cuts on it as well or stock primary gears? I know a few people say it doesn't matter, but this is about the 10th time I've seen TZ parts floating around without a major catastrophe to cause it.
  10. I believe LED is doing gears now.
  11. As a fella with a Closet 250r fetish, I must say that the only reason I haven't done another is it seems that the Aftermarket is drying up. In my opinion, most not all, but most people on 250r's have moved on to the newer 4 strokes. Granted there are still 2 stroke junkies on the R's, but just not nearly as many as a decade ago. That was the early platform for racers and most racers are on thumpers. The banshee crowd is typically based around rec riding, and for now is still the king of the drag racing atv scene. The aftermarket is not only alive but still expanding. I always get a kick when I talk to people about banshees and they just have no clue and tell me they are dead..... Those are the same people who spend every weekend at a Moto track on a 450. In the trails, dunes, frozen lakes, log roads, drag strip, nothing puts a smile on my face like a built banshee. Stock vs a 450 they aren't much, guys always say they need to be modded to be cool, but that's the thing. The banshee can be taken farther then just about any other machine in the ATV market. Yeah you can do the same things to other bikes, but there are no 100HP thumpers on just motor, no 100hp quadzillas, no 100hp 250r's....
  12. Only if you are abnormal, in that case yes!
  13. Yes, but that's not very practical. You say weight to weight? How big is a 10 pound cube of Ti vs a 10 pound cube of chromoly? When choosing tubing for a project I'm choosing tubing dimensions not weight, although weight is a factor. So yeah pound for pound stronger. But not always better when comparing material sizes in practical real world applications.
  14. Hmm, that's what my worry was. Found a lot of different materials while looking for different weights to use in my slingshot. May start buying samples to see what's lightest of the ones that aren't ceramic. Can't find a Ti ball though.
  15. ^? Technically the typical long rod piston has a skirt that hangs lower over the rod.
  16. Something is fucky. Thrust washers are in correct? It'll end up being something simple but easily overlooked.
  17. Check that you assembled it with the shift rod and the ball. Some guys tend to lose it taking it apart and forget to put it in. Also, if you have adjusted everything else, did you also check the adjuster on the pressure plate? Also try just clocking the pressure plate again a few ways to see if it can seat any further.
  18. .
  19. I'm wanting to get it ordered, but I'm just curious if any one has had any issues with the ceramic on the end of titanium?
  20. Run up to Lakes Motorsports and grab ThreeBond 1211 sealant. They get pretty good deals on the seals to. But don't get the Weisco seals. They are trash. OEM is the way to go. To seal that crank Keyway, you will need to pull the cover. Pull the clutch basket. Then take off the gears off the crank. You may need to get crafty in prying them off. Some are easy and some are a pain in the ass. An old plastic cutting board or chunk of rubber around the case edges will save them if you need to do prying. Once it's loose, coat the key in sealant and re assemble.
  21. That is a nice swinger. Glws
  22. Stock cyl or cub? What type of riding, tight idiot holes in the north west or wide open dunes? The 28's will be pretty responsive and only be a few horses less on the top end. If it's not just wide open areas and drag racing the 28's would be the way to go if you don't wanna get a set of 35's
  23. Gonna have to pull the clutch and stator covers to see the seals. Lots of shoddy rebuilds out there with out RTV/sealant on the Primary Keyway on the clutch side seal where the primary gear slips in.
