Tuning Banshee with Wideband 02 sensor
dajogejr replied to ojcool's topic in Jetting & Exhaust Forum
Man....you saved me a lot of typing...thanks!!! My feelings hurt? Please.... OJ...let's just leave it at you think you know it all, being your first banshee and stuff, and I KNOW I know a helluva lot more than you. Which...might not amount to much, but it's still just that. A helluva lot more than you. WHY? Oh...because I've doing it since I was 7 with my daddy and uncles in my garage...and that's called experience son. No little gadget or gizmo is EVER going to take away from that. No...just about everything you say is smart ass...I was asking simple and honest questions until you got defensive. Done deal.....I'll be happy to stay out of your threads...stay out of mine. -
Tuning Banshee with Wideband 02 sensor

Interesting....indeed. Ya know...I'm pretty sure my tried and true old school method will be just fine for years and years to come. However...there you go OJ. No need to strap down and risk damage to that expensive laptop...all self contained right here for ya.... Now...My buddy with a 4 stroke Honda might be interested in this.... Here ya go, I'm gonna say it....Those things just about have to be tuned in by AF because of the carb design...they have an accelerator pump which almost makes a plug chop impossible to read. However....before you go doing your victory dance...oj....reread this whole thread very, very carefully. Yes, I've said ATV tuning is better done with plugs...but later did specify 2 stroke ATVs...and since this is BANSHEE HQ...well, 'nuff said!! -
Then look at Trinity.... I hate to say it, but...they make a very nice head. Nothing against NOSS, I have one....and love it. But, Trinity is damn nice too...

Keep your eye out. I'll have my 35PWKs for sale after this weekend, they're already powerjetted and on gas...ready for alky if you decide to go that way... I've already given JT (badassbanshee479) dibbs on them for his buddy...but, if he doesn't want 'em, they'll be up on the block real fast.... I'm offing a bunch of stuff off the bike when I get back from this weekend....

STL...I think you'll agree....two seasons ago we had over 120 losses. To come to the world series two short seasons later is a miracle, with convincing fashion through the playoffs....I'm happy already, just not satisfied...ya know!!!

21mm from the top of the float (upside down) to the base of the gasket surface (no gasket)... Remember, the needles have springs in them for riding over bumps...be sure you're not pushing the floats too hard. But...I just eyeball 'em...level. I bet you got a spec of dirt on the needle or seat....

It is on...leave it to yet another old school 2 stroke mechanic to fix yet another 4 stroke problem... :yelrotflmao: We're leaving tomorrow mid-morning, taking our time...etc. See you boys when you get there....I'll tell Bob to smile so you can actually see him...the roost wll be caked on tomorrow...

Tuning Banshee with Wideband 02 sensor
dajogejr replied to ojcool's topic in Jetting & Exhaust Forum
Once again....Car vs. Two Stroke ATV... So for 200 bucks, you can get a wide band sensor, a PC and software to do all this? I'm sorry....you're right...sign me up for that... You need to compare apples to apples, oranges to oranges. Two stroke to four stroke. multimillion dollar budgets and a whole team of mechanics...to...well, an ATV engine shop that has neither.... OJ...I'm all for you doing your thing.... But again, I promise you...I could tune that bike in just an hour or two of tuning, total....wheras it'll probably take more than that to set it up and go through all that data. Honestly, we'll just have to once again agree to disagree... You have your way, I have mine...and I'm more than satisfied leaving it at that!!! Here's to ya... -
Jay...my trip might be off for this weekend.... It might be torn down and up for sale sooner than I thought...

230's are too small. If you have an airbox with lid, try 270. Without lid 280 or 290. If you have NO airbox, 330s would be about correct. Carb Check Time: Did you take each apart and put back together one at a time? Are the slides in the right carb (cutaway facing towards the airbox) Is the tube in place between the two carbs (from the choke on one side to the other...)

Kid...you're a real tool to say the least. From your 20 inch banshee rims wannabe, 100MPH with your friend on it running from the cops...yeah, you're a piece of work little boy. Let the men talk amongst themselves...go back to playing your video games at your buddies house. If you came here looking for trouble, you've sure found it. Don't make us tell your parents.... back on topic. I only run sand...so, outerwears is a must... Are the filters pretty clean. ol? If the filters are really clean and properly oiled, and the outers are clean...that's an odd one. As said...just for the hey of it, drop a main size or two to see if it clears up. If so, this would be the first time ever I've heard of an outerwear restricting to the point a jet change was needed....

Ohh...fine point indeed...lol
-
One of two things...TORS are hanging up...or there's more dirt in them there carbs... Oh...and check to make sure there's a little slack in the cable at the thumb throttle...
-
True that...just giving him another option...right from the horse's mouth...lol.

4 Mil Trail Ridable? Other Stroker Q's too.
dajogejr replied to jbooker82's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
you'll get better response from the 33's...more top end power from 35's. -
Before you take apart those carbs and fiddle with them, have you tried turning/adjusting the air screws at all? Turn each air screw all the way in, count how many turns. Then, turn each one 1/2 a turn out. If the bikes runs/starts really good...adjust them from there. But, if you end up with 1/4 or 1/2 turn out, then....yes, you need a bigger pilot... A. How old is this bike/motor.... B. Is it ALL 100% stock, as in stock pipes, stock air filter, stock aribox, lid, snorkle??

Clean response off idle to just under 1/4 throttle... Uh...yeah, 4.5 turns out...go way smaller...start with like 55's. .5 to 2.5 is really where you wanna be...
-
I'd say the mains are probably pretty close...but those pilots are HUGE!!! You normally don't even need that big to run alky...lol. Yeah, I'd say you could probably safely go down quite a few sizes on your pilots. You could probably go 50ish on the pilots....to be honest.

Yeah...the FASST are awesome....a guy we rode with had some on his predaturd... http://www.fasstco.com/products/flexx.shtml

Yeah...I can even fan the weather....but, my buddy who is gonna help with the construction is off work right now...so, the timing for getting work done at my house is perfect... If I get the wind up my arse to go...I'll give ya a holler.... And if the weather turns out to be perfect up there....I don't want to hear about it...
-
Change your av...too...red. Back to the CPIs.... Too bad...
-
That one hurt my marble sack....lol....

Longer for me I'm afraid... I'm gonna have to bow out, it just wasn't meant to be. Bob's bike pissed itself cause it was scared of it's daddy banshee...lol. Seriously, between Bob's bike having an issue, the very, very questionable weather and the construction/demo work going on at my house...it just wasn't to be... So...yeah, more shit talking between me and Bob for a few more months. I told E I'm bringing my motor over probably this weekend to act as a paper weight for a while... Lockup, Override, Alky, 39's, 14 over and 14 rows are a coming soon....maybe a preview on the ice, JT??
