  1. I've always sanded that coating off stock carb slides with a real fine scotchbrite pad.
  2. They're both the same, L or R. Create a post in wanted section here and on E2S. If you have no luck, go to carbparts.com or sudco.com, or you local dealer.
  3. Quite a few places to get straight cuts. I wouldn't give RDZ a dime of my money...his customer service is awful. I guess when you build a fast 350...it means you can piss on everyone and not call them back, etc....unless they spent thousands upon thousands of dollars with you. Anyways... Jeff @ Fast carries them, look on his website by clicking on his banner.
  4. With pod filters and T5 pipes, being from Michigan also...I would love to see your plugs after a proper plug chop... Something is not right with 260 mains, pipes and no air box. I can see a 300 or 310...but 260? That's what jetting I start out with a stock air filter, with lid and pipes.... Either that...or those filters just restrict that much air, and I can't see that being it. 27.5 pilot, 330 main to start.....you can fine tune it from there. The did you actually pull those pilots out of the bottom of the carb...or are those the air jets that are in the carb bell?
  5. To be honest....I get all I need from HQ and PS. There's a michigan sand slingers forum out there, Atvwire, and a bunch of others that I signed up for...but very, very rarely visit there. Once a day or so, I'll hit up Everything2Stroke....but not real often. I mean...c'mon, I'm only at work 8 hours a day...LOL.
  6. You do...it's called the Internet. Click on one of the site sponsors' banners for pricing.... You're going to get a million answers on who to call....so...you're gonna be making a lot of calls. Go with who gives you the best service and price...it's your money.
  7. Damn it...where were you when I was in school and needed that....
  8. Since my bike hasn't run right this year....just race me best out of 10. By the 6th to 10th race...you'd be beating me...cause I'd be pushing mine off the track...LOL. Seriously, now that I'm pretty sure I got it figured, I'm geeked.... JT ran all weekend at SL last weekend, quite a few gallons of Alky, Not 1 single issue. That's where I need to be before I fine tune the jetting, air pressure, gearing, etc. This is a whole new bike to me, spark plug to drain plug, asshole to elbow...so, I honestly don't know what to expect out of it....
  9. 1. Yes. Stock is 200 main jets. Depending on where you buy them from...locale wise, they could come with 190 to 220 from what I've seen. Lower numbers for higher elevations and higher for colder temps, lower elevations. Never do mods to fix your jetting...you'll get burnt. Either do the jetting correctly for how the bike is, or do the mods then jet it correctly. Please don't use mods in the place of proper jetting. I had a friend that used to mix more oil in the winter "to be safe" When I told him that makes a lean bike run leaner (more oil in gas, flows through carb/jets slower) he didn't believe me. After three years, three top ends and a crank...I made him and his wallet a believer... 2. At 5000 feet elevation and your mods, I"m taking a WILD guess and say 220 to 230 main. At 5000 feet, it would be in a great interest to you to raise your compression as well...either by milling the stock head, or by purchasing an aftermarket head with smaller domes. At 5000 feet, even when properly jetted ...your bike will feel like it probably lost 20 to 30% of it's power compared to sea level. You probably lost 20 to 30 PSI of compression from that elevation climb... Welcome to the HQ....
  10. You can borrow that, if I can borrow this.... I about pissed myself on a support call when I gazed at my email and read that....
  11. Post #45 said he is in fact Nate McCoy.... And being as his posts are well worded, thought out...using proper punctuation...tells me he is the "real McCoy"... Sorry...had to, pardon the Pun. Wannabes normally act like kids. Even though he's gone back and forth with firehead on verbal thrashings, his tone is still that of a professional. If it's not Nate, he should hire this guy for his PR.... :yelrotflmao:
  12. Nate, Please don't make the mistake in thinking that firehead represents all of us, for he doesn't. That would be like saying one or two bad apples on PS represent you...(not saying firehead is a bad apple...I think you get the point, though...) And I consider him a friend...and will continue to support him the best I can, as he has me. We've bounced several ideas off each other in the past...and will continue to do so. He is arrogant and cocky...but I'm pretty sure you know a few people like that as well, I don't feel the need to name names from here or PS. I'm sure I come across as arrogant in some of my posts, but I've said it before, keyboards and screens don't portray wit, humor or attitude very well. Those that know me and have met me personally, talked on the phone...know I'm not that way at all. I'm not going to pretend I have 1/10 the knowledge, actual or imagined, informed or misinformed as either of you two... The fact of the matter is the two of you will not see eye to eye on this...no matter how much longer this thread goes on. That being said...as I've made the transformation to Joe Trail rider into more serious drag racing...I've been reading a lot more on PS, your posts...and input. I"m pretty sure I've PM'd you a time or two for advice...and you were very helpful and responded very quickly. I'm not saying either of you are right or wrong, I don't have a dog in this fight. All I'm saying is...just because you and him don't see eye to eye on this, please don't short change the rest of the posters and readers by not offering advice and know how. McCoy performance builds impressive motors. And you already know you have a good following...don't let a negative with one member on this board ruin it for the rest of us. I assure you your knowledge and help is most welcome here.
  13. What's the chance Brent is gonna roll out, JT?? I'm gonna try and drag some more out, Evan, Newtz, Bob....should be a good time!
  14. A blaster with a boost bottle...
  15. Ok....I'll start it. The bike in my signature is faster than the bike in your signature.... :yelrotflmao: :yelrotflmao:
  16. Well..I've been entertained, that's to say the least... Nate, thanks for coming over here. It's too bad you joined this forum for this reason, your help and knowledge would be greatly appreciated over here. I'm not taking either sides, firehead is my friend...I don't know Kevin Gigot....never seen his products, but I'm of the same opinion.... Those ball bearings make me nervous. If you've had great luck with them, Nate...that's good. But everyone knows....once you have a mental block of some sort, it's hard to go against the grain...especially with your own hard earned money. That's my .02, good luck.... Mark...since you have the article from their website, post a link. That will settle that...
  17. Shane...you get my PM??
  18. Honestly, if you want to do a SuperCub, call Nate McCoy at McCoy Racing... I wouldn't give a dollar to RDZ... Rob builds some fast bikes, but his customer service is terrible, and that's an understatement. The SuperCubs take some effort to get them to work as well as a normal cub out of the box, but they can run very, very well... And...like Wes Said, if you're looking to build a strong all around banshee, a cub is the WRONG choice. It's a drag motor, period. A cheetah is a better choice, but that is still drag orientated... Get your stockers ported by a reputable builder...you will be MUCH happier with the power output and characteristics of the motor.
  19. Yeah, I honestly can't tell you how he ended up with it...but, it was smooth and cushy to ride. You're right, you need to go back to explaining how GP makes shit, and the difference between dyno controls....LOL.... :yelrotflmao:
  20. You must be talking to Strokerace....you quoted me, though...
  21. It's a shorter shock, but stiffer I believe... I can tell you his bike rides nice on the drag strip, a little too soft for me. He doesn't really dune it much, it's 90% strip... Mostly for the lowering factor Mark...you know I use Marvins...._
  22. There are two pickups in the gas tank. Remove it, drain it....and take the fuel valve off. One of two things, either you're that low on fuel, or the on valve (it'll be the longer of the two) is partially plugged. Stop running that bike out of gas...when you run it out of gas, it has NO lubrication....
  23. To be honest, my override won't shift without the bike running for shit....sitting there. I suppose if you have the motor out....you could spin the front sprocket and see if it shifts, one gear to the next....I"m not sure how much pressure has to be on the gears to test the override...
  24. I understand... I'm 99% certain I have my issue sorted Roger, and I have new pipes on the way...plus, I got new paddles to use. If I don't ride my bike soon, I"m going to explode...and/or sell this damn thing. Tired of smoking in the garage just looking at it sit there..... Unless it's pouring out, I'll be there. Already told the old lady to be ready to get up early and make the trip!!!
  25. Ok...Ok...sorry to sound like a worry wart, but some people just don't realize that they're sitting on an EXPENSIVE time bomb if things aren't done right. Honestly, I'd go up 3 to 4 sizes on the main....and buy a box of plugs. You may or may not have to lean your needle out one clip...Vforce richen up the midrange, and if it's boggy....lean the needle a clip.
