  1. Hmmm... Wonder how my ice tires would work... inch long ice picks might grab a little...
  2. I'm assuming it's 300ft sand drag as well?
  3. That sounds interesting...I've always wondered if Bourbon and Benoil would run good...LOL... I'm planning a dune trip in early october, and I said I wouldn't go out of state this year... However....I need to get out and ride.... Give me some details next time we talk. Is that "Little Sandy" Rog? I think if we could get a good group out...that'd be a blast...
  4. Man...I appreciate it greatly Rog... Between having lunch with Evan today and yesterday....and all the stories I know I'm gonna hear about at Bob's next week, it's gonna kill me. However, financially and because of work I just can't make it. We're supporting the Grand Prix down there all weekend, just got back actually....so, from home to Belle Isle isn't too bad. I don't think I'll be able to support them very well if I told them to hold on for 4 to 5 hours....LOL....
  5. Gotcha...Sarcasm sometimes doesn't translate by being read on the screen often...LOL... To be honest, if money wasn't the object, I'd have a 4 mil cheetah with powervalve for my duner. Good blend of everything, power to have fun, win a few races...but bounce around the dunes too!!
  6. I was gonna say something along the lines of Dan's full of enough hot air....but, you've got another source...LOL....
  7. Well..Brad...they are pointless on a drag motor...to a point. That's why most drag racers that use Cheetahs block them off, especially the bigger cheetahs. The real benefit of a Cheetah cylinder is the much larger intakes, bigger pistons and larger exhaust ports. The smaller Cheetahs, 10, 7, 4 and stock stroke used as duners are great for the power valve....but you're leaving the line in a drag race at 7 to 9K....the PV plays no part in that... Just my observation, and I go to the track with probably 10 guys with Cheetah motors....
  8. Honestly...if you could tell the difference in smoke being blow from 30:1 to 34:1....you'd have to have 100K of equipment to measure air quality, density, etc.... That would be like owing a swimming pool and saying by looking at it you could tell the difference between 250,000 gallons of water in it and 250,010 gallons in it... 32:1...you're set.
  9. Have you tried Craigs list?
  10. Are you done on your soap box? Good.... Spend 2500 to 4000 on a banshee...then spend another 2K to make it even compete with a newer (no...not 8 K brand new) 4 stroke for what you want to do. Sounds like a winner.... No one said you can't make (I should say...detune) a banshee a good trail machine. A box stock 450 from 2004 or newer is better, out of the box...bone stock. Period. Yeah, I know it's a banshee site. You see my bike in my sig pic, don't you? I'm just a realist who keeps my ego in check and has a sense of reality....that's all.... Why do things the hard way when you can do things the smart way? So based on your reasoning, I just should go and buy a newer muscle car...and convert it to 4 wheel drive to mod bog in. I mean...essentially, that's what you're saying....you want to be so different. Carry on....
  11. It's my home track...just give me two... I might have a little more than a 10 mil if my boy blows up my motor this weekend at the dunes. In that case...you'll need a few lengths, even with that bottle...
  12. By the way, guys and gals, I've never run on an "Index" before. Always sportsman or pro tree...bracket racing. Here's what Rich wrote to me on what index means: index is when you have a dial time it is at the bottom of the tenth - so 4.1 4.0 4.2 so if you run say a 4.25 and 4.40 in time trials the tower will automatically put you on the faster time and indexed so you can dial down but it has to be dialing down a tenth - you can't dial slower (sandbag) so the object is to run what you brung but you can break out
  13. I'll take you up on that, Travis....I can pay one of those Jockeys a few bucks to unplug one of your spark plug wires... LOL.... Were in good, but confusing times buddy. There are a lot of people trying new things constantly....and thinking outside the box. I try to listen and learn from the guys around me as well, compare setups, etc. I try to take the "average" of what I hear, apply it as I see fit...and fine tune from there.... Travis... I posted a link in upcoming rides. End of September....will be a good race and a good turnout. You should think about making the trip up!!! I'm two hours south of the track...and you've got a place to crash if you'd like, as long as you don't mind a few St. Bernards!!!
  14. You get what you pay for, as said... My buddy tested his 9 year old sled motor, triple, with a cheapo... readings for all three cylinders were all over the place, and I'm talking 20 to 30PSI difference. Cheapo gauge from the auto parts store. Borrowed my buddies Strap (Snap) On gauge (cause let's face it...at their prices, you're getting fucked...they do make quality pieces, though) Each cylinder was within 5PSI of each other, motor has 5K miles on it. Get a good gauge...
  15. I say run it.
  16. Hey guys...here's an email from my buddy Rich...it's a big race, good purse...and big turnout end of September. For you out of state boys, this place is roughly 1.5 to 2.0 hours north of Detroit. Here's the details in an email I received.... Alright here are the details on the upcoming Sept 29th SHOW ME THE MONEY race at Albright Shores Sand Dragway in Gladwin County A few of us sand racers have been putting on a 2 -3 Events a season at different tracks-West Michigan Sand dragway, Cleves Ohio, and Albright Shores What we are looking to accomplish Sept 28th and 29th is having a end of the year, put it all out there , set it on KILL , Knock Down good old fashion Drag Race!! I know that I ran my fastest pass of the year that weekend in 2005 and again in 2006- believe me I was not the only one - we have had great action at this now 3rd annual event - racers really seem to let it all hang out and want to go out at the end of the year with a bang!!!!! We are planning on 7 classes- these are 300 ft sand drags side by side some bracket racing while others are HEADS UP classes are 1- Juniors (15 and under) open field atv /junior dragster/ buggy 2-ATV Bracket 3-OPEN Bracket 4-PRO ATV (index) must run 4.499 or faster 5-PRO TRUCK (index) must run 4.499 or faster to qualify 6-OPEN Eliminator 3.5 break-out Heads up 7-TOP FUEL- No break out time - heads up We feel these classes should give us a great turn out We have a 1rst place of 1000 dollars guaranteed in the ATV and OPEN Bracket Pro Truck 1rst place 750.00 Top Fuel 1rst place 500.00 Pro Atv 1rst place 500.00 Open Eliminator 1rst place 500.00 these are just the pay outs for the winners and as sponsor dollars come in we will increase these -so as you can see paying 1 and 2 and in some classes paying back to 4th we will need some funding so I am asking for your support for this event!! I have included the flyer we are putting out on different sites- this will change and the sponsors will be added as we get them to Commit-The plan is 3 different sponsor packages all including some great advertising for the buck and name recognition - Now I realize some of my vendors do not necessarily sell direct to the general public , however the turn out for this race last year was spectacular and we anticipate even more racers and there friends and family this year- We have a preliminary confirmation on a tent for vendors to set up displays and sell product if they desire- this is a great way to be in touch with what is going on in your surrounding sales area and there are quite a few automotive business people who are involved so it will be a captive audience albright shores website is www.albrightshores.com another excellent sand drag site is www.sanddragcentral.com I also have include some pictures of the track and last years SHOW ME THE MONEY Sponsorship Packages are as follows PACKAGE 1 $300.00 2 of the 2x4 banners with company name and contact to be placed on the fence line of both right and left lanes- the opportunity to have printed information passed out to the racers and spectators by our staff or yourself if you attend- 4 gate passes PACKAGE 2 $600.00 3 of the 3x5 banners with company name and contact to be placed on the fence line of both right and left lanes, also 1 banner up at the front or roadside of the property- THIS PACKAGE IS THE ONE I AM PUSHING- you also get the SOLE sponsorship of one of the 7 classes - with this your company and contact information will be announced at the begginning of each round for that sponsored class- printed information distributed by our staff or yourself and the opportunity to set up a booth for either product placement or sales - the class sponsors will have their name along with the main race sponsor on the trophies PACKAGE 3 $2000.00 This is the main race sponsor for the entire weekend and will get top billing - Race sponsor will get everything in package 2 with banner sizes being 3x8 and will get 4 banners one at the front gate, one on the TOWER for prominent visibility and 2 trackside one in each lane- race main sponsor will also have their company name along with the class sponsor on all the trophies I hate asking for money from anyone but over the years I have learned that contacts are everything in business- Keep in mind racers come from all over the state of Michigan as well as St Louis,Ohio,Kentucky and more so it's not just local advertising in the Gladwin Area we are exposing your company to- Feel free to call me for details and thanks for your time Rich Simon Richards New Baltimore Auto Parts 586 634 1468
  17. I agree 100%. Cubs are so cheap to build, in comparison with the other motors out there. I really want to ride a 4 and 10 mil cheetah with the power valves... I've only ridden a 10 with the PVs blocked off...damn drag racers...LOL.
  18. Normally, if you're jetting is spot on, you should have to change jetting for timing increase OR increase in compression. Do a plug chop to be sure...and as said, make sure you have enough octane.
  19. That's a hot topic of debate right now, Travis. The old school ways of saying 7mm and bigger go BB and smaller go SB are out the window. Smaller motor guys are finding more performance gains in running BB pipes. It's all about setup... My 10 mil is only like 465 ccs...and you won't find anybody running small bores on a 10 mil, well...not many anyways...LOL. Mido...if you plan on hitting the strip only, get out of frames. If you plan on duning, get inframes... Bouncing around dunes, you're gonna break OOF pipes, they'll flap like a bird's wings...
  20. Seriously....get new friends...LOL. If you mix at 32:1...chances are some days you are 30:1, some days you are 34:1... It all depends on how EXACT your measuring device is....32:1 is just fine. Your friend is probably pulling your leg... I mix my oil and methanol to 28:1. When I'm in a hurry, I'll put an extra ounce or so of oil in my Ratio rite because I know that last little bit sticks to the cup and I don't feel like waiting forever for it to drain into the fuel can. Your bike will not run any different, 30:1 to 34:1...promise!
  21. Remove the lid and let it breathe... What is your compression...? I'd bet you don't need full race gas, you could probably run premium pump fuel if your jetting is spot on....depending on the compression. Your jetting is close as is, probably a little rich with the air filter lid still on.... How is it running now?
  22. Sell your bike, buy a 4 stroke....make it easy on yourself. Great suspension, gobs of tourque... Snop is right, you can make one torquey....but you can also make the local neighborhood crack whore a prom queen, just too much work....
  23. Carbs setup for fuel pumps have them...(that's what I run) I can tell you with 100% assurance... If you run WOT for a mile on a cub motor, with pumps, dual feed petcock, larger bowls...etc., you will run them dry....period.
  24. A small...1 gallon tank for us drag racers....LOL...
  25. Do you mean you cut holes in the lid, removed the lid...or removed the airbox all together? Stock pipes??? Need more info...
