  1. Gonna be a long winter....I can't see anyone renting out Albrights until next year. 21st is a T&T at Bobs, most likely the last of the year unless for some reason we get a 2nd Indian SUmmer...
  2. Out of curiosity...Snop, how much compression are you running?
  3. Is the offer on the table to take the engine only for 2200? Id' go that route, you could EASILY part out the rest for more than 300 bucks... Just my opinion....
  4. I don't think I'd be overstating thing if I said they make 100X the aftermarket parts for banshees as they do your 450. This motor/bike has been around 20 years and still going. The motor is virtually unchanged (minor things here and there) The chassis design changed...from it's inception in 87 to 90, it was a J Arm frame up front. From there...it's been A Arms. A banshee can be almost limitless in power, but the chassis/suspension need to be updated accordingly. For a few thousand, you can easily triple to quadruple the power output...but with anything else, you need to upgrade as a package. Better suspension, better clutch, etc... From bone stock to a very rideable and reliable 70HP or so....it very easy to do. As said...stock suspension is lacking... People do trail ride banshees..but I think it's safe to say the majority let them run free in dunes, wide open trails and the dragstrip, where all the power can be used...and used often. You can do everything from porting to the stock motor for a little pep to full on aftermarket cylinders, stroker cranks, etc. I couldn't tell you if Athena does anything for banshees or not....but plenty others do!!
  5. You're a 2 hour drive at most from R&B Porting in Michigan...he will EASILY beat that price... 500 is pricey for a average dune/play port on stock cylinders. I've seen and rode a bike with Bob's Cylinders, they are nice. You can PM him on here, machwon, or call him direct, he's just outside of the Lansing area. 517-388-3662
  6. Ask whomever is going to port the motor.... Some will like one pipe or the other....
  7. Great info...and it makes perfect sense on the timing run as well. More timing will net you more power lower to mid-RPMs...but even two degrees didn't make the peak HP of the lesser setting. That's a pretty nice torque curve too, Snop. I'm hoping to get mine on a dyno in the next month or so... It will be a totally different graph.... Nothing, nothing...nothing, HOLY SHIT....nothing...nothing.... :yelrotflmao:
  8. 24 hours boys...it's gonna be high 30's low 40's at 9 AM.... Get out the Ether...LOL.... It's gonna be a chilly one, I don't think anyone is gonna complain about having to wear long sleeves tomorrow!!!! I know I'm gonna be duct taping the front of my helmet, that air is gonna be COLD!!!!
  9. Free is always my favorite price...LOL.. Depending on their condition, dents, scratches, dings...250 to 400 or so. CPIs are a hair pricier than the Shearers...but they are fine pipes.
  10. Keep what you have...it is a better trail machine, and the suspension is LIGHT years better than any banshee... The factory banshee gets about 35HP to the rear wheels, give or take. With pipes, air filter, jets, and a timing advance (all bolt ons without ever having to crack open the motor) and you're around 40 to 42HP or so. You're already at 40HP or so with that 450R, box stock. Throw a pipe, jet kit and air filter on that 450R, or....get an HRC kit, and you'll be way, way better off than with a banshee for what you want to do. You will not get 50 HP with bolt ons only on a shee. You might get 45ish...at best, and your torquier powerband ans suspension on that 07 450R is a 10 time better trail machine, period.... Now, if you want to buy a banshee in ADDITION to your 450R, hell go for it, it's a totally different bike, it's an absolute blast to ride....and we love them here. I just wouldn't get one to REPLACE the bike you currently have, you'll be severely disappointed.
  11. PM or call Dave Noss direct. His name here is dlnoss, his site has been posted. He can tell you better than anyone what is right for your machine, locale, elevation, etc. The two times I've talked to him, he's an absolute great guy....
  12. How many blades? It really all depends on weight, gearing and type of sand.... You'll probably be just fine with them in an 8-10 paddle tire, again...depending on the sand. wet sand, less paddle, fluffy...powdery sand, more paddle. Just about any paddle is fine for overall duning and playing around. When you get a little more serious about getting into drag racing...then you start with buffed haulers. Weight is everything...but the thinner the tire, the more puncture prone it is...so, Sand Stars are a fine choice... 10 inch rimes are fine for a duner...you want smaller rims for drag racing...again, the weight thing. Have fun.... By the way, what dunes you gonna be riding?
  13. And...you've got the right attitude, good for you. Just like a woman...get to know her...except there's a manual to help you along, the Clymers. Sometimes, shee's gonna make ya happy, sometimes shee's gonna piss you off, nature of the beast!!
  14. 100%. If you're gonna take it down that far, a new seal kit is 20 bucks or so...I sure as hell would replace 'em all...especially being 20 years old...and not sure what he replaced or "claims" to have replaced...
  15. ONly started the bike twice on them. First time, cables weren't long enough, shut it down after 2 or 3 seconds of idling at 4 or 5 K. Cut my stock cable, idles fine, started on 2nd kick... I did some reading, and I shortened up my needles (richer) and will put the correct throttle cable on tonight... I know it's close, I know it'll start...I'll make adjustments as needed Saturday AM at the track. Two different guys told me the EXACT same thing on how to adjust them, work on the needle setting first, how it should be, how it should rev, clean out, etc., then work on the power jet. I've got it at 5 turns, I might open it all the way. I have a feeling even as cold as it is...I'm going to have more than enough fuel with my pump, large bowls and dual feed Clippard PJs...I've been told they flow more than the Dave Moore superjets I'm used to. And...the Lectrons carburete (sp?) MUCH cleaner than PWKs or Mikunis... We shall see....
  16. Best of luck to ya buddy, it's always better to catch it early... I'm sure he'll be fine...and driving you crazy in no time again.... Call if you need anything...hope to see you and...mini-mini-me out there.
  17. Good question...could always call him...not sure. If he does...and IF I go back to my PWKs, I'd order another one when I had the extra cheddar...for sure.
  18. Just great....who's gonna be the first to offer Mini-Me a few bucks to be their Jockey??? LOL.... Seriously, keep us all in the loop. We're all a family....and we stick together. Leaving my crib about 6:30 AM to get there early to tune these babies in...call me if you need anything!!!
  19. As some of you may know, I just got a pair of Lectrons for my bike. I purchased a new throttle cable direct from Dennis Packard, arrived in two days (Monday USPS was closed for the holiday) and this cable is a piece of art. You can completely dissasemble it, rebuild it or replace parts, and it has a TON of adjustments on it..... I wouldn't hesitate to buy from them again for something like this...you pay for quality...this is it!!!
  20. Wish you and your son all the best of luck. Family first.... Give any of us a call when you can and let us know how it turns out... Just won't be the same without you there, but you have to take care of your boy...!!
  21. Scratch that....cable just got delivered to my desk. HOLY SHIT...bad ass throttle cable....
  22. Memory serves me right, his are already drilled.... I'm hoping to get my new throttle cable today or tomorrow...or I might be in a bit of trouble...
  23. Too bad you don't have a pump....you could borrow my 39 pumpers....
  24. You run your mouth to me in PMs about how you do all your own work, how I did just like everybody else does and bought a mono-block, your family owns a hot rod shop, you know how to check and set an engine block to square, etc. Like you are the tell all, be all of all things with engines and fabrication. Now cause I called you out once again for your BS, I'm the asshole? How about I post all the PMs you sent me and let the public decide if I'm being an ass or just calling you out....? As a matter of fact, here is one of those PMs where "I Can only dream about the kinda work you turn out" A swingarm dude? C'mon.... "nah I just like how you take special interest in my posts. It makes me feel all warm and cozy inside. I know, only people as stupid as me can turn out projects you can only dream of tackling tubby. Stick to your "out of the magazine" bolt on parts.... and save your blabber. resistance is futile" How you like them fucking apples?
  25. Not to sound like a jerk...Dan...but you cleaned 'em real good as in took them completely apart, removing all the brass jets, needle/seat/floats and everything?? I've had someone tell me they cleaned the carbs good. Then I dismantled them down to bare body and brass laying all over....and they said "uh...I didn't clean them that good"... If so...I'd agree and say ignition next. Try a brand spanking new plug, even if you just bought one...just for giggles. Might want to pull the ignition cover off, make sure there's no rust/moisture or anything else like that... Bikes sitting for a long time like that come up with some crazy problems.... I know the 97 CR 250 had an electronic type power jet in them....does the 96 125 have anything similar??
