kick starter kick down and then jumps up hard
dajogejr replied to peterlocal22's topic in General Banshee Discussion
if you're getting poor or intermittent spark, absolutely it could be the problem. Since you didn't check it, start there. Could always be something else....but check that first. -
kick starter kick down and then jumps up hard
dajogejr replied to peterlocal22's topic in General Banshee Discussion
Ok...if you're looking at the flywheel with the stator side cover off...at about 4 to 5 o clock, there is a little black box, two scews hold it on. The flywheel has two nubs on it. Turn the flywheel so one of these nubs is lined up with this black pickup coil. Between the nub and this pickup there should be .015 to .020 clearance. Much more than .025 and it might not spark strong enough... You loosen the two small phillips to slide it closer/further from the flywheel nubs. -

It's kinda rare for a kickback unless you got a lot of compression and timing. Did you set the air gap for the pickup coil after you put the plate on?? -
Squirrel Master = Nut Gatherer... I got it. Sounds about right...

It's not a NOSS unless it's old. Whatever it is, looks like it's been sanded down and polished...how about a side and underneath view. Possibly a Vitos hemi head....it's not a prodesign, it's designed to use stock studs judging by the recessed stud/nut locations.

Man...if you didn't have any luck, you wouldn't have any at all... If you kicked it...you'd probably break or fracture a bone in your foot that takes forever to heal...it'd probably roll out of the garage, then right into someone's car... who is sue happy despite she's driving a 1985 Yugo on 3 spare tires and no car insurance. She'd fall out of the car holding her neck.... "Don't touch me mothafucker I'm on disability...." Glad to hear it's ok. Once you get to go for a rip it's all worth it again.... I spent the first two trips to the dunes last year MFing my bike after 5 or 6 runs each time, popping an oring, then smoking a stator.... When I got to rip down the track finally, it was all worth it!!

You can call it nut swinging... I call it friends and homies that got my back...

I've played the SHIT out of WII sports. I'm a 1800 tennis player.... Baseball is fun once you learn how to pitch. My girlfriends 6 year old son kicks the shit out of me in Boxing, I can't hit the little bastard...drives me nuts....LOL. I'm leaving to pick it up in an hour or so...and it's raining outside. So...I don't feel guilty being a lazy ass for a few hours....LOL. I read a review that said the bikes actually turn sharper...any truth to that? Have you tried to play the game without the wheel?
-
I know it just came out....but there has to be some game o phile that was waiting in line when the doors opened. I reserved a copy, and pick it up today. I like the fact you can ride a bike or cart...wheee..... I've never been big into video games, unless pac man and atari 2600 count when you're a kid. This Damn Wii is an absolute blast...I'm as good at drunk bowling in person as I am in Wii....

Shhh...don't let anyone know it's 900 mil, it a stock sleeper.... Squirrel, ok is just more used to conventional drag racing than what you street racers down there are. I don't understand or get it any more than he does. He's just a little more passionate about it...that's all.

Oh boy... I think I just spit pop out my nose on that one.....

You can big bore a set of stockers, but the gains made are minimal...and it can even set you back in power if done poorly. Porting, however....is where the power is at. NOTHING you do to your motor will compare with porting. Of course...with porting you need to compliment it to your riding style, as well as the port itself. Pipes, carbs, gearing, etc., all play a roll, as well as chassis setup. Time and time again, people build a MONSTER motor but don't take the time to setup the chassis to get that power to the ground. Ok...I just reread your post. Get a dune port and some 33PWKs to match it with your pipes. Hold on.

Drag racing world is a little smaller than you think, and I keep my ear to the ground pretty well...
-
Don't worry...if we played that game, I would've borrowed a bike with a much bigger motor and a turbo....to start. I wouldn't drive 20 plus hours with my bike.... I thought I read something a while back that said Fast George wasn't shit anymore. Could've been BS, shows how much I pay attention...

Drag racing is won getting off the line. Unless you're talking about a stock motor vs. a BIG motor. In that case...the guy on a stock motor would have to be an absolute fool to race a bigger motor. That is in fact my point. If I brought my bike down there with my arm and a wheelie bar, I would smoke you out of the hole so bad with a stock swinger and no bar you'd never catch up. Period. And yes I said with a bar...because that's how the real drag racers ride. I'd even let you put a bar on yours...with that short of a swinger, you'd hit the bar so hard you'd unload the tires.... I brought up 06 because I know of his motor builder, and he builds fine motors. I didn't want someone to pipe in saying...what, McCoy builds shit motors? NO...he does not. That is why I brought him up. As well as he races down there with you....so, that's the other reason I brought him up. I'm not driving to Florida, period. You won't ride sand....so, it's all BS from here. I can say bring 10K with you, come up here to MI and race in sand. It's the same as saying we can street race down in FL for $$$$$. A buck or a hundred of them, doesn't matter. It ain't going to happen. My bike is setup for Sand. And it's setup pretty damned good. Neither of us are going to change for the other, so it's keyboard racing from here on out. My bike is setup to go a straight line, yours isn't. Apples and oranges. My whole point is...find people that race pavement. Not your way (street racing) but the guys that actually do it at the track, legally...and have been for a while. They run longer arms, they run wheelie bars....period. If your way worked so good, why would they waste all their money chassis, wheelie bars, etc. I understand you street race...fine. I understand there's lies, deception, etc., Fine. I'm saying a properly setup pavement bike WITH a longer swingarm and bar will flat out eat yours up. There is no iffs, ands or butts about. Bro...I'm 250 lbs. Even If I got down to 200 lbs I'd look like an Ethiopian fighting over a piece of rice. I will never be a world record breaker on my bike. Guess what, many of the guys that build big bikes don't ride them. They let lighter...more often than not younger guys ride them. It's the ways things are done. Now for bracket racing, weight doesn't matter. Which is the only drag racing I'll have a legit shot at winning, consistency. And it takes just as much skill to be consistent on a good bike as it does to win a heads up race. I guess to answer the original poster's question....we need more info. Rider weight, desired type of riding, dune race, track race, pavement, sand, grass, ice, etc. Flat ground, hill shooting, etc. There is no set rule. What works for one guy on +4 might not work on the next guy's bike.

Oh boy...here we go. Everyone with motors around here run 10 to 15 over on the sand. I guess if you guys had motors that made power, you'd understand. (And yes...I know 06 has a McCoy motor which I'm sure runs great...his motors run, period) And since this guy never said anything about a bar, I'd call our reading level pretty even. I'm not the best rider in the world, are you? I'm good enough....and before you think you're better than me, come play on the sand. I know plenty of people who ride pavement and do both, and I have ridden on pavement. Do you? You ever ride in sand? You know what it takes? Didn't think so. Bring the bike to Little Sandy in KY when we go and we'll see your proficient riding skills and setup knowledge... Funny thing is, other than the guys down there that race by you, all the other pavement guys seem to think a stock swinger is a great idea...NOT. And...never have I seen you mention extending the front, either. You know people do that from time to time as well... It's safe to say I'm not driving all the way to Florida any faster than you're coming up to MI. So...meet me in the middle.

I generally set mine .015 to .018. .005 would make me a little nervous.

Whatever happen to Sandtoyz Unlimited?
dajogejr replied to JasonsBanshee's topic in General Banshee Discussion
Jon Sefarian is a great guy...and I'd love to have him as an HQ sponsor. He's a fellow racer and really takes care of people...his word is as good as gold. He's still around and doing very well... -
I agree... I think I'd have to put very large slicks and a bar on mine and lean way back with sticky tires to get traction. My boy Hopper has a 14 or 15 over arm though, and was 4 out the front. He did pretty damn good on pavement. On my old 4 mil cub on a 6 over swinger....anything but paddles in the sand, it'd blaze the tires. I had holeshots on tall grass...which, I thought would hook...grass usually does. Nope...just trenched the grass...easily.

Take it back to the shop that rewired it back to AC, tell them to take the bike for a ride. It'll serve two purposes... it'll be funny to watch them get zapped...then they'll know the problem as well. if you already paid them to convert it back, let them fix it.
-
I know... It seems in south Florida, the hot spot of banshee drag racing, you could put a 400HP Hemi motor in a banshee frame....someone would believe it's still stock...and you guys could launch that with a stock swinger.... Read the posts, did he say with a bar?? No.... Are you going to jump my shit everytime a question about big motors and swingarms comes up? Why don't you do me a favor....use the search button. Find out all the people that have 100HP plus bikes and run stock swingers....gather them up, and then the two or three of you out there can compare notes with the other 98% of us that can't drive...don't know how to setup bikes, that run longer swing arms for a reason. I mean...c'mon. With all these people that build swingarms, you'd be putting them out of a job....if there's no reason to run a longer one...there's no need to fabricate them. Thousands of people out of work, just because you guys have top notch NHRA pro banshee drivers down there with no swingarms...oh, wait, you guys don't run bars, either.... Damn, more people out of work. Ok...back to reality, I'll be here waiting for you... I didn't say he needed a 14 over, did I? Show me where I said he did. I said when I tell people I have one, they think it's too long. But several riders, including the one that just placed at PS, get it to come straight up. I know that a nationally recognized, sanctioned event like that doesn't hold a candle to hot bed of racing action by you, but quite a few of us do think people there can actually ride..etc. We all know you guys are street racing masters....got it. The rest of us will just have to settle for being sub par...I guess.
-
I'd like to see his RT and 60 ft times with that much power.....no bar? It's a crap shoot, just like buying tires. There are a ton of people that think my 14 over arm is too much...yet you can get on my 10 mil and it will stand straight up on you...on ice, on sand...with traction....with 3-4 different guys riding it that can ride a lot better than I can. You've posted this in the drag forum, so I assume you're building a drag bike... Drag bike and 4 over swingarm don't belong in the same sentence unless you're running a blaster motor with barely any work done to it....
-
Unless you have a history of getting bad gas from your local stations, take the inline filter off. You have two screens in your tank. I would take the fuel valve out of the tank and check those for dirt/debris as well.
-
Kinda what I'm thinking too...and the right cylinder will run out of fuel first, further road to travel for fuel. Too much carbon on top the other, you were definitely fat....
-
Looking for a used 4 mil crank, any condition...bad bearings or rods not a problem. Let me know what you got, price...etc. Would like pics as well, please.
