  1. In my opinion, you need to have the cylinders cleaned up, they are casting flawed by the factory. Every set I've seen is anyways... You are going to hear a HUGE varying degree of how well and how much power you can get out of them by porting. These cylinders run good off the shelf because the port timing/layout is that good out of the box. I'd say 5 to 10 HP is what you're gonna get out of them with a port. It's not going to be 20 to 40 HP like you can out of stock cylinders. They already have drag port dimensions and timing on them. If you don't want a builder to go all out, ask yourself if it's worth tearing the motor down to get 5 to 8 more HP out of them? I'd spend that money on suspension, etc. Do you have a lockup and override already? My 4 mil cub cleaned up on gas was a handful on a 6 over arm, it would've been damn near unrideable with a 4 over like you have. Get a dunable override and lockup clutch, they will do more for you than basic porting alone on a cub motor....promise.
  2. I'm assuming you have the tors removed already? What else is done to the bike? 95 lbs on a good tester? You waited to long....and you might pay the price now. It was on the verge before, cranking up the timing and running it in 6th might have put you over the edge. At 95PSI, I'd say it's a waste to even check compression, you already know you need to freshen up the top end, hopefully...not much more than that.
  3. Anybody can complete a painless and brainless transaction. It's when things don't go right (issues at work, home, shipping, etc.) that show a person's true character. Some people just don't get that.... Nice work Tim!! It's pretty obvious by the time and pride you take in your work you're in this sport for the passion of it, not to get rich. Profits, sure...get rich...not so...
  4. You're gonna have to come up with some cash on top of that bike...to trade. I'd bet you'd get some more serious offers if you spent an hour or two with a power washer and some soap cleaning that thing up too. How clean a bike is kept tells alot about how well a person takes care of their stuff.
  5. Shearer, RDZ or CPI are fine choices. I say go big bore. However, the NEW small bore shearers run hard from what I've heard. I have not yet run them...so I can't confirm that from my own experience. I run bb on my 10 mil cub. Shearer, 2 out left side.
  6. Don't waste time with E85...go right to methanol. Porting, compression increase, timing increase. Then...you'll have to modify the chassis/suspension to take advantage of the power, then you'll have to modify the clutch and transmission to be able to shift with all that power. It's an expensive road you're heading down. If you're just going to be an occasional/play drag racer, get some good pipes, 35mm carbs, a dune port, 4 or 6 over swingarm and a FAST clutch to hold the power.
  7. When you say needle on the side, are you talking about the air screw? If so, lightly seat it with a screw driver. It's closed.
  8. Havoc makes top notch stuff!! Get a roundhouse carrier, ditch that stock style carrier/adjustment routine. You'll be happy you did.
  9. Don't put any smaller than a 14 tooth...you'll be blowing through the gears if you do. Pick up some Fatty, SST, T5 or Trinity pipes...that will move the power a little lower as said. Those pipes are hot items, you will get top dollar for them.... Did you make sure NYUK didn't leave one of his butt plugs in a silencer?
  10. Nice find Wes... Aren't the Air Strykers more geared towards MX etc compared to PWKs. Rob @ RDZ is right, I doubt he even remembers how to tune a gas motor, he's all methanol over there.
  11. 1/4 mile of dirt...dear lord.... Might have to take a look next time they have an event, though...
  12. That L should go all the way into the brass carb top until it bottoms out. Slide the boot all the way down. It might move a hair, no big deal. The boot seals it from dirt and debris...
  13. Not only a great shop, but a great bunch of guys too. They're always one of the nicest and coolest people to hang with at the track...will always lend a hand/part/tool to anyone that needs help.....
  14. That's the one from RB Porting, the one he purchased for 58 shipped. If you're not going to build your own, that is the next best thing IMO.
  15. JT has a 2-5 dunable, he lets his G/F ride his bike in the dunes, has no idea what an override tranny even is. Even the TT guys that use dunables go a season to two without replacing shift forks, and they CONSTANTLY backload it at high RPMs. Let me know....
  16. Do a compression check with a good, known working gauge before you're sure it's pump gas domes. Trust me on that one.....
  17. Home depot, Corning (pink panther) house insulation, peel the paper backing off it. Seriously....it works. And is CHEAP!
  18. quit being a sissy....just get a dunable override from me already.... Seriously, I've been told that a shift pro kit AND modded shift star are not a good idea. The roller over the star is bigger, cut the star down...and hit a few whoops, etc., and it could shift/pop out of gears on ya.
  19. Odd. Can you please post a picture so we can help you better....
  20. Cub for MX and on those tires? Oh boy.... You're going to need a lockup or 6HD springs to hold that kinda power, 3 and 3 are not going to cut it. Problem is if you go with a lockup, it will be harder to shift under full acceleration. Get a nice EZ Pull lever with a ball bearing like the one Jeff @ FAST sells. I have 6HD springs in my bike, and it pulls like a trail bike clutch should. I also put a NEW cable on, and I made sure it wasn't kinked in it's routing, nice free sweeping bends in the cable, etc.
  21. Did you leak down test the motor? Did you check squish? Did you try another compression tester??
  22. Yeah, you gotta use imageshack.us or photobucket and get the pics on here. Those babies are TINY!!! Looks good from what I can see, though...you obviously have the right tools to do the job, not some backyard hack (such as myself....lol) Very nice!!!
  23. That could be the reason...mine fits under a normal, extended lockup cover
  24. Hmmm...do you have the "lite" version? Mine is from the end of last year, is yours older or newer?? I'm 100% positive when I talked to him on the phone two Friday's ago he said .070....he also said you can go up to .100.
  25. For the hillshooting you do, I bet these would be better on your 10 than those damn cracker ass Rockets....LOL...
