No offense, but that video isn't impressive to me... Sure zillas can be made to run, and Dr. Q. can sure make 'em go...but when you start getting into bigger motors with aftermarket cylinders on the shee, the zilla will be a ways back. If that banshee in the first video is a 565 (more than likely 10 mil cheetah with a 75 bore) it is either running like shit, isn't set up right or the guy can't ride. My smaller motor (465) would destroy that bike and there is nothing special done to mine. Bolt together motor. I'm not trying to say 500's can't run, they can... and although this is banshee hq...hey, we're all in this for the love of the sport. I'm just saying...you took a random video that doesn't mean anything...against a poorly setup or poorly ridden 565 banshee (if that is in fact what it was)... I know of several 350 banshee motors that would have no problem taking that thing down.

Actually... NGK doesn't specify a torque spec on their plug, but they do specify how far to turn the plug in on the initial install as well as once it's been removed an reinstalled (squished the compression/seal ring)... I usually turn it in almost a full turn once it makes contact on a new plug, half turn on a used plug.

Word... get the right domes....first time out.

I've got hundreds of passes on my bike and know what it runs with a stock flywheel. I'm a fat boy at 250lb. I am going to get a stocker shaved and put it on my bike....just to see what it does. Then I'm going to switch from my lockup (slingshot) back to the direct drive.... I want to see first hand how rotating mass on BOTH ends of the crank effect the bike. Between my old DD lockup and my current slingshot, times have NOT changed...despite the slingshot with both ball bearings being heavier by quite a bit.

Dumb ass for stopping? Yep, you haven't learned your lesson yet.... How about I shouldn't have done it in the first place??

There is a BIG difference between breaking the law, and KNOWINGLY breaking the law....

Chippewa... While I agree that a plug should be torqued properly (which...none of us do...lol) they can and will back out if something is not right. I had a problem on my bike with incorrect domes, it popped an oring, sucked coolant...skyrocketed the cylinder pressure and backed a plug out. Twice. And I knew something was wrong.... The point is...if the motor is suffering from detonation, if you're lucky...it will back the plug out. Not all the time, sometimes there's a metal party and the piston is invited.... A spark plug lock is not needed on a properly tuned motor...and if the motor is not tuned properly, you might get lucky....and not suffer so expensive a lesson other than a backed out plug.

Blantently? no.... I have done stupid shit on 100% private property...that's my business...and the land owner's business. I was going from one snowmobile trail to the other (IN the middle of summer) and I crossed a dirt road. Came to find out Snowmobile trails are NOT ORV trails. DNR was cool about it...but gave me the ticket for riding on a public seasonal road. I honestly thought a snowmobile trails was ok to ride on on an ATV as long as you have (had) a legal ORV sticker, helmet, etc.... Nope... He let us ride the bikes back to camp a mile or two away....and I sucked it up and paid the fine. I've ridden in gravel pits with the owner's permission, with the understanding if someone around complains and calls the cops, we leave. No iffs ands or buts. Once or twice somone called (because some dipshit went out of the pit down the road) where we had to leave.... As long as you're not drunk acting like an ass....and being sincere...normally you get a fine if that. Start being an ass, just like getting pulled over by the po po, you reap what you sow (And I'm not saying you guys are...just saying that in a general sense...)

Modify your coil listing snop to say the coil will need boots to run. I know we can all see it does, but....I don't want to see you get dinged on ebay for something STUPID like that.... I got my first nuetral feedback because a guy from Brazil used a buy it now, I don't ship outside the US...and canceled his winning bid and refunded his money. COCK SMOKER still let me nuetral feedback.

Yeah, I know he was blowing off steam...fine. But he's complaining about getting a ticket by breaking the law... We have laws, you break them, you get fined....that's the way it is. Do I agree with them? Nope....back in the day you could ride on the shoulder, no issue. A cop might stop you to BS for a while. I can remember a cop stopping myself, dad, uncle and cousin....all riding into town to get breakfast. He pulled us over to talk about our three wheelers, what we thought...and he was thinking about buying his kids one. He didn't even tell us not to drive on the road, warning, NOTHING. Have a great day, be safe....was all he said. The UP (Upper Peninsula) has legalized riding ATVs on the shoulder in most counties... Northern lower peninsula has some counties where it is legal as well. In our UP, Snowmobiling is king, they cater to them. Big Buisness. But that's only a few months a year...and the businesses struggle otherwise. They've realized..by opening up the trails, being more "ATV Friendly" they will get more buisness, etc. It's ALL about the money, is my point. Sheeblue, only been to traffic court twice? Lucky you.....trust me. LOL.

The DNR does suck, and you will get a ticket 95% of the time. They have more power and control by the police...trust me on that. My buddies dad found that out when he mouthed off to one, drunk, for driving his truck down an path for reserved wild life... I'm pretty sure they've given a ticket or two to someone driving on the side of the road before. Make the court date, lose a day's pay (or take a vacation day), and explain to the judge your understanding of the law. Then he'll say you're right...pay the court fees. It's no points, and you're either going to pay the fines or court fees...GUARANTEE.... DNR gives out tickets for the money....period.

A dime is one mm thick, roughly. I eyeball it.

Trinity will have them as well.

Whats the best deal you have gotten on ebay?
dajogejr replied to danny's topic in Online Auction Watch
That's only because you bought the matching butt plugs. -
That is a rule of thumb...if you don't have EXTENSIVE porting, it will be fine. But you could have a motor with 15:1 compression ratio, but 140 PSI cranking pressure if it has a very high/long duration exhaust. It wouldn't last long with pump gas... That's why race fuel is rated for compression ratio, not cranking compression...
-
Compression ratio determines how much octane to run...calculate it.

Smoking deal...good luck for ya Colby.

pinned...that's fair enough. I went snowmobiling with a group, they spent 1/2 hour on the trail, 2 hours in the bar....10 or 15 years ago, a friend of theirs died on the trail. Hit a tree about 1 AM, punctured a lung and bled to death... Needless to say, I won't ride with them any more. I went riding the quads with the same group, thought it might be different...it wasn't. Snowmobiling is huge here...I always said, let's hit the trail. Stop after an hour or so...smoke, have A beer..relax, get back on and ride. Or...hit a bar, have a burger and beer to warm up....then hit the trail. I got better things to do though...then sit in the bar and party it up frat boy style... We're on the same page, just be careful what you advertise on a publically viewed forum...

Lose as many trails and areas to ride, almost get run over by boozed up or drugged up riders, then tell me to take a chill pill. I bet if you got caught by the cops, got locked up...bikes impounded and had to pay thousands of dollars in fines...you'd be laughing hysterically.... Or better yet, someone got hurt...or worse yet....killed. Oh...the laughs....slapping my knee as we speak..... One time is all it takes, use your head for more than just a helmet holder....and you'll understand my point of view.

So...when you say race, everyone was drinking, on a bike fully capable of going over 70MPH, maybe 10 MPH less with two people on it, one of them with an old, possibly sub-standard safety helmet on, drinking beers...with a bra on, not real protective clothing... Ok... Am I the only one that doesn't see a safety issue there??? Try this. Ride your bike at 10 MPH. Yep, just 10. Wear an old helmet, like the ones these guys were wearing. Put on some shorts, tennis shoes and no shirt... Jump off the bike. Into the ground, into a tree...doesn't matter. Just 10 MPH. Then take into effect you were bracing yourself for the crash....and one of the people in this great idea won't be braced. Sound like a lot of fun?? Didn't think so. Do what you want...by why paint a picture and make it easy for the law to shut our riding areas down. Why post it?? Drink your beer, go shoot up some heroin while snorting a bump off some hooker's ass. Do you have to write about it on a public forum for everyone to see?? Do you have to make it worse for the rest of us? I'm sure it's the cool thing to do where you ride, that's great. Look out for the greater good of our sport...instead of just your little cool click.... You're on a public forum, giving other riders that play it safe and try to follow the law a bad name. So yes...in every way this does concern me...and many others as well....

Agree with Methy... DMs need just a little work, and proper setup. We've got a guy here with a 10mil DM on a Tyson drag frame, I'm pretty sure the motor was done by A&S.... Has run 3.5s to 3.7s.... No 10 mil cub or cheetah around here is gonna do that..

This thread has stupid mother fuckers written all over it.... Racing back to anywhere, riding double, grown men.... I don't care if the driver is drinking or not...then...you have the brains to post it on a public forum for all to read, including Johnny Law Officer and DNR/Conservation Officers. When they shut down riding areas because of jack asses like you guys....don't wonder why anymore. I remember all the places I used to be able to ride when I was a kid growing up. GONE. I remember going to gravel pits near the city as a kid...then seeing shirtless bozos all boozed up almost running myself and other kids over...cause...you guessed it....dumb mother fuckers. However.... If this is ALL 100% on private property, and I mean ALL of it... no young children are in danger, I retract my statement 100%. Maybe someone will get in an accident, lose the ability to reproduce....and save our future because of it.... Carry on....

Too much of the wrong kind of power. No bottom or mid, then it hits you like a ton of bricks. Sure, you can try and detune it...but why?? Stockers ported right is much more efficient in trails.

Cubs = No trails.

Yep...that's a pretty good price if you look the whole thing over and make sure it's as clean as it looks... I would bring a good, known working compression tester. When my buddy went looking, he brought my snap on gauge, and banshees that were "just rebuilt" or had low hours came up with 90 lbs of compression. Time to leave...
