  1. Word...I'll cosign on that too...LOL. Straight cuts are nice but not needed. However...every once in a while, people get the bug and go bigger quick (hint hint...lol) In that case, that's one less thing to buy. Comps can be revalved and have lighter oil to actually ride pretty nice I've been told by quite a few people. I strut my bike, and it's been SO long since I used my Marvins....actually, they're on a buddy's bike now. I don't even have them. You will do nothing but benefit from the override and lockup.
  2. Until then, I'm the man to come and see.... LOL...love that quote.
  3. Apparently not...if you would've had the required spark arrestors, then you could say it was Legit, you wouldn't have gotten pulled over, you wouldn't have gotten a ticket...and you wouldn't be 25 in the poor house. If you weren't a smart ass, and only you and those there would know that...then you've done all you can. As said, yes sir, no sir go a long way. I hate having sparkies in the dunes. Makes no sense whatsoever. Hell...we have you beat. We have a decible limit you get checked for if you ride in (we throw the drag bikes in the back of trucks) Sometimes they're out checking, sometimes they're not. My understanding is the equipment has been broken lately (at 150 a pop for a no sparky ticket, I find it hard to believe it's due to lack of funding....) It's like anything else, you break the law....you take the risk of getting caught. I'd gladly leave the sparkies off for a 25 dollar fine in MI. 150 is a little bigger bite out of the wallet.
  4. FAST is a lone man for porting, he has a guy helping fill mail/phone orders, shipping, etc. Herr Juggs is the same, solo... RDZ is the same, solo...(and he is very good friends with Dan Hull A&S as well, but you already know that....) I don't know if Cameron at Redline is a solo act. Nice guy though. Not sure about K&T either, but Kim is pretty cool as well. A cleaned up 392 cub on gas will make 91HP on Dan's dyno all day long. He is known to have a generous dyno...the real measure is how that cub does against others of similar builds/setups.
  5. Dan builds some of the fastest shit, period. The reason that stands is because his motors, and often him, are at the large, national events. He's at Sand Mountain on big weekends with a lot of competition.....not the court jesters. Being local to me as well, I have a lot of friends that go to A&S. Mostly average cubs, a twister or two. Total Hit and miss. Nice guy at the track, his work speaks for itself no doubt. Here's the thing....I'm not saying Jeff or Kevin or anyone else for that matter can't build engines as fast or as well. But they gotta get to the races with the big dogs. I'm gonna help with that... When I say hit or miss...some guys say he'll pick up the phone everytime and/or call you back quickly. Guys like BansheeDan (and they are 100% legitimate remarks) say IF...IF he calls you back, IF he ever gets done with your motor... Being local to Dan and knowing the fast motors he builds, I'd love to have one of his builds. I'm not willing to take the risk of maybe having to wait...maybe not. Maybe getting the motor in a month or two, maybe not. I know it's an open ended answer, but it's the fairest and most honest I could be. I'm a FAST and Herr Juggs nut swinger, so that means they call me back and/or answer the phone when I call. I just wish I could be in the bigred/gregrob racing nut swinging circle....they are the only true innovators in this sport, and a class act to boot. They were custom making bikes and using Duct tape long before it was the cool thing to do....
  6. I'm playing devils advocate here. Did you know spark arrestors were required to ride there? I'm sure you did. Do I agree with having to use them? Fuck no....we have to use them here in the dunes at Silver Lake. Just because I don't agree with the law doesn't mean I get to make my own choice to break it and expect no consequences. AND....if you were a smart ass to the ranger, you definately deserved it. You think you're the only person who mouthed off to him that day? I'd bet you had a better chance of not getting a ticket if you would've minded your P's and Q's. I don't agree with spark arrestors period. There's yet to be a forest fire attributed to an ORV. Last I checked...sand isn't very flammable. So...our freeway speed limits are 70MPH. I think it should be 90...so I'm just gonna drive 90...then I'll not only complain about getting pulled over, I'll be a smart ass to the cops and get the whole ticket (20 over) vs. being nice, accepting that I broke the law, and getting maybe only a 5 over ticket or even a friendly warning. Basically you're here complaining about having to pay 25 dollars to break the law.... I know, it sucks...everyone around you is breaking the law, they don't get caught....that doesn't change the fact you did in fact break it. Come to Michigan...I think it's a 150 dollar fine. And they will get you every time. They check you before you even go into the dunes...
  7. The pilot jet must be snug, do NOT overtighten. The air screw is on the side of the carb. It threads in like any other bolt/nut would. Do not CRANK it closed, lightly seat it. Then back it out 1.5 turns.
  8. This is what the cover looks like installed on your side cover (I get mine welded)
  9. Pics....please. Is this just a billet plug to machined and welded/epoxied into the stock cover, or is it a quick change cover to be machined into a stocker? Glass or no glass?
  10. Garbage... If it was so great, they wouldn't give it a mix of two distinct names. Billet and Titanium. It has a billet cylinder...ok, where's the Titanium?
  11. +14 in my sig. Changing it up to a +12 once I get my new frame.
  12. Incorrect. You can get a .010 and .020 over piston from OEM Yamaha, cast. .25 mm or .010 over part number is 2GU-11635-00-00 .50 mm or .020 over part number is 2GU-11636-00-00 I can get you the ring numbers too if you're interested....LOL. While technically you are correct, a stock (64mm) piston will no longer work once the cylinders bored, you can buy an OEM cast piston from Yamaha/Dealer for oversizes, or bored cylinders up to .020.
  13. In less than 11 minutes....damn Joe, I need your search skills....
  14. Great write up Doc. I was looking through this to see where you removed the check ball in the air pressure gauge....very nice write up indeed. IMO...this leak down is more important than the initial compression test.
  15. Don't forget, some old computers shipped with Netscape... Damn shame Microshaft pretty much put them out of biz....then they joined with A O Hell.
  16. To add to this post, I've circled in red where the pilot jet is. Remove it as said, get some brake cleaner...and flush the shit out of it. Then brake clean the pilot jet (tell us what size it is. It'll probably be in the 42 to 55 range. Get a piece of speaker wire and clean out the pilot jet, then brake clean it again. Once you pull the pilot jet, you'll realize why I said speaker wire. A tiny piece of dirt is all it takes to plug a pilot. Gently bottom out each air screw, then open each 1.5 turns from lightly seated.
  17. Yep...I have. thought it was WAY too cartoony like Apple or Vista. Nothing special. If you're opening up your own shop, look into BartPE as well, and/or a bootable version of Linux, Knoppix is pretty good. Both lifesavers.
  18. Sorry if this is already answered.... What brand of compression tester are you using? Does the threads on the compression tester match the length of the threads on a spark plug?
  19. I've used Firefox for about 4-5 years now. It is less inherent to pickup adware/spyware than IE due to it not using Active X. They originated Tabbed Browsing, and you have a WHOLE SLEW of custom apps you can install to customize your browser. From a Gmail app, to an FTP app...weather apps, just about everything in between. From better security to more customizable apps....it is hands down a better browser than IE. The only thing I use IE for is GUI Programming on Cisco hardware. Firefox will not do that...otherwise, it does everything it needs to. And I've been doing computers a long time Dan, you know that. Never had a problem with Fox...and I used it back when the versions were .0.9.0 etc. Now it's at V. 3.0.7 I've used Opera, MyIE2 (now Maxthon), netscape, Mozilla, Safari.... hands down Fox is better. You can even get a mobile version that runs off a flash drive, something you should look into. When troubleshooting, you can launch a browser that completely runs off a flash drive, so if your customer has hosed IE so bad, you can download a fix.
  20. Tony...I have a few questions. Who set these up? I can see clearly they're packard billet bowls. Who put the needle in them, who installed a pill and adjustable power jet? Sorry if you already answered this elsewhere....and thanks.
  21. Firefox can not go "down". The install could get corrupt. It only relies on your Internet Connection. That would be like saying the freeway is shut down because my car won't start. Literally... I can tell you if you leave firefox running for a long time, it will start to bleed memory. Especially with quite a few tabs open. I Normally close and restart firefox once or twice a day to clear up the RAM.
  22. I like to show off at the track....
  23. Don't make me take off my shirt and flex my guns buddy...2% body fat and all...
  24. Look, you can call that Pirate Midget doing the deed whatever you want....but the fact you're convincing yourself it's me, well...it might be a time for a changing of the swab...I mean guard.... Just remember, shave 'em before you kiss 'em.....
  25. No. Go to carbparts.com or sudco.com to get those.
