 Yeah, I probably will!! LOL No you will love watching the process, it's amazing to see what happens. When you look at it before it's baked you think, "there's no way that will turn out smooth and glossy like paint" but then as you watch it melt and come to life you'll be amazed! That's why PC is so addicting!

Here's the basics. Well, I don't remember all the costs but here's what I can think of off the top of my head: Metal studs: about 7-10 of them 7' tall at about $4 each Rolls of sheet aluminum: 4 rolls at about $15 each? Heat duct tape: 2 rolls at $8? Cement board for the base: $7 Mineral wool: $60 but had a bunch of extra Oven: FREE Craigslist biggrin.gif

Thanks All !!! I know a lot of people have been asking and planning their own setups so I figured this might help out.

That's what I figured, cool thanks!

Ok this was a freakin mess! I was trying to remove the bolt (in picture) that holds the bracket (in pic) to the brake caliper. I managed to get the bracket off with a LOT of elbow grease but then I couldn't get the bolt out! I knew I needed to get it out because as far as I know that thing should slip back and forth in the rubber boot when installed or at a very minimum it should turn so you can remove the bracket! So I figured it was frozen in there somehow and took it to a hydraulic press to push it out... it took almost 3 TONS of pressure to get the damn thing out and now that I look at it, it looks to have a sleeve that the bolt rides through and is rusted together! Am I correct?? Should the bolt ride through this sleeve smoothly? Or did the person before me jimmy rig something here???? I've never torn my brake apart to this level so I'm not sure... At any rate I need to replace the bolt (and sleeve?) because I chewed the hell out of the allen head. HELP!

Yeah pretty funny the sleeves for the cabinet are cut off of an old sweatshirt...HEHEHE Hey it works!

Ok so here's my shop, it's not perfect but it works very well and I can turn out some very nice work. I'm a penny pincher like my father so I pretty much build all my own stuff from scratch... Here's the oven you can see my newly built rail system for heavy items above: Here's the oven with the rail system and my banshee hanging in it: Rail system collapsed so the door can shut: Rail system released so you can see the part that spans accross: Rail system fully extended to allow the trolley to move accross: Frame outside the oven: Closeup of the trolley inside oven: My small PC booth and blasting cabinet: Closeup of blasting cabinet: Closeup of PC booth, I used a house filter with a cheapo walmart box fan behind it, it creats a perfect amount of airflow for me:

Hey guys quick question... I think I'm ok but I just installed new seals on my crank after having it welded and reassembled the cases last night. The crank is moving nice and freely but is just a tad bit tighter than before which I'm thinking is just because of new seals and that the old ones were a little loose from being old. Sound correct?

I had one hell of a time getting mine out. I tried everything but those things are REALLY pressed in and you can't get to it from the backside. There are two ways you can try; 1-The way I did it is I pried all the bearings etc. out so that all that was left was the sleeve, then I took a dremel with a cutting bit and VEEEEEEERRRRRRY carefully cut into the wall of the sleeve WITHOUT cutting into the wall of the case. I cut out in 2 places so I could remove about a half inch chunk of it and then I could squeeze it out. Those fuckers are sturdy!! 2- you could try putting your case half in either the oven at 300 for about 45 min, or you could put it in the freezer for about 4 hours at least and then that thing might pull out.

I'll take some pics tonight and show you my setup...

Wow shit don't do that again man. that shit can kill ya. No but really, alluminum oxide is not good for you either but you should ALWAYS wear a respirator when doing any kind of blasting anyway. Anyway I'll take some pics of my whole setup and post them for you soon.
-
I'm wearing a black hood like the terrorists... LOL I probably should though...hehe. I'm definitely putting disclaimers on the video though because I'm not a total pro and I'm sure I've made some small errors or possibly not done some things the easy way but hey, it's a good example of how to dig into a banshee and should definitely help some "DYI'ers".
-
Harbor Freight is the most common local type place. I only use alluminum oxide 70 grit. Don't use regular sand (playsand), Silicosis is no fucking joke!!! Cancer, death, hell, are just a few words to describe the potential hazards of playsand for blasting...

Hey Kiel, speaking of walnut... do you blast with walnut? I have a whole box of brand new walnut media that I won't use, if you do... PLEASE TAKE IT FROM ME!! It's in my way!! I almost threw it in the trash the other day. Sorry not tryin to threadjack... I did mine in xtreme chrome PC and put blue candy over the top but I don't think I took a pic of it with the chrome.. sorry.

Just in case anyone was wondering, I'm still building the rebuild "how-to" Video. I have been filming almost every step of my teardown and rebuild! I just put the lower end of the motor back together last night. Just an update... I have lots of work to do still but I'm moving fast and once I'm done I'll produce the video for anyone who wants it. No, it's not an issue. Even if it does it's not significant enough to make a difference. I've coated air-cooled and liquid cooled motors and not had any problems at all.

I hope you guys don't mind MY avatar...?? hehehe -
Hey guys if you are looking for one of those Dual Gassers I just got mine from a great ebay seller. He shipped it fast and it was $119. shipped! Anywhere else and you're looking at probably about $150.
-
I've done plenty of motors etc. they will definitely hold up with PC. They'll handle more than 250 most likely and if you're really worried about it you could go with high temp PC and be good up to about 1500 deg.
-
Cool, that's what I was hoping to hear and pretty much figured anyway. Thanks!

BUMP for some heeeeellllp!!

Hey so I have the same question about that line, I'd like to eliminate it if I can... Any GURU's input would be much appreciated... I'd like to just plug off the nipple under the cover and not even have a line coming out of the cover... HELP!!! Getting ready to reassemble motor!!!

Damn man! Wish I had the money or the trades!! Those would go perfect with my new build. Oh well, I had to spend my $600. allowance carefully on parts this time. I do plan on having you do some plastic for both my banshees in the next year or so though... By the way, I'm shipping your hubs back today couldn't get to it yesterday.
