how do i adjust the shift shaft adjustment screw
NitroTate replied to bansheejoel's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
There's really no way (that I know of) to adjust it without draining the oil and pulling the clutch cover. It's the eccentric adjuster in the center of the clutch pressure plate that you have to get to. fraid you'll have to drain er... -
take the back end of a screwdriver and tap on the bowls, your float needles are probably stuck open. That happens almost every time I take my carbs apart and clean them...
-
Yeah the only bogging I need to dial in is on the bottom end (needle) and it's a little hard to start sometimes. Other than that it pulls really well on the 3/4 to full throttle.
-
Ok so did the plug chop and I'm pretty dern close to being right on. I could probably go down a size on the main and probably be ok. My left cylinder (left plug) is a bit rich so I think I need to mess with something but not sure. I have a feeling the left air filter might still be a little clogged with fresh oil or something causing it to be rich. whachya think?
-
Yeah thanks for coming over man! I think I might be safe coming down 1 size but I'm going to go out and run a plug chop today on some fresh plugs and see where it's really at. I'll post the results.
-
No that wasn't an attempt at a plug chop, I just went out and really ran it for the first time and checked the plug. I'm doing a plug chop later today or tomorrow. I figured it looked rich. It was kind of falling on it's face a little up at WOT and the top of the gear, that tends to indicate "rich" correct?
-
Ok just fishing for opinions, hopefully this is visible enough for now... I'm going out to do a plug chop here in a little while so I'll post that too but for now I just wanted to see what you guys though of this? It's so close you can't really tell the color but it's a chocolate brown on the DARK side.

That's why I love Colorado!! Not so much of that kind of crap here... cockroaches, scorpions, tarantulas, My house in Texas when I was in the Army got infested with them!!! My wife woke up with a giant cockroach in her hair one night! Fuck that! Sorry though, I don't know any tricks for Scorpions... :ermm:

I used to have those slip on braids too and I don't reccomend it either. Once they get dirty or snagged the look like hell. If you plan to spend $40. on those you would be much better off picking up some of the metal radiator hoses like I did for $50. They stay exactly where you bend them to, cool better, look sick, don't snag, and easy to clean. Maintenance free! AND you can PC them any color you want!!

I would do a hoodie for sure.

LOL, I guess this is where I start this! Tell me how you think I treat ya!

Paid me upfront for powder coating his engine cases, very responsive and responsible! Hope I got it matched up for you and everything worked out good Bansh-eman. Let me know if you have any problems I can help you out with.

I got it straightened out last night temporarily. So my wife's shee has rear brakes again. It will hold solid for now and the only risk is that the boot is no longer on it so over a long period of time it could rust again but I'll have a new one by then. Thanks for the help guys, and I'll definitely order that Suzuki one as soon as I can.
-
Either way I want to trade some powder coating for one of the following: 9 paddle haulers on rims OR 9 paddle haulers (tires only) that will fit my 20x11x10 rims. PM me if interested. Thanks
-
To answer your other question though... yes you can work on them yourself and save a lot of money. The really are pretty easy once you've done it once or twice and the amount of help you can get from all these guys is almost unlimited. I'm actually creating a DIY video guide on it from my recent ground up rebuild that people will be able to get once I finish editing it.
-
Oh, cool man thanks, I have an idea for it and if it doesn't work I'll call them. Much appreciated!

I was going to get the whole caliper from Minkia38 but don't have the cash right now. If one of you guys has the bolt that would be great! I'll check with them. What happened was the sleeve that is pressed into the caliper rusted to the bolt and I ended up having to use a press to get the bolt out. It took almost 3 tons to get the damn thing out and then what happened is the bolt and the sleeve stayed together and the sleeve/bolt came out of the caliper!! I got the sleeve off and salvaged it but the bot is chewed the hell up and since I'm on such a budget I'm trying to just get the bolt.

I pretty sure it's too "special". It's that odd one that goes through the boot and has an allen head with the groove for the boot to sit in and the threads are downsized quite a bit from the diameter of the bolt itself. Know what I mean?
-
So I'm trying to replace that bolt that holds your rear brake caliper to the swingarm because it's the ONLY thing that is jacked up on the rear brake. YAMAHA DOESN'T SELL IT SEPERATELY!! You have to buy the whole damn caliper for near $300. just to get a $2. bolt! Guess I'm pulling out the "Fabricator Hat" for a day...

I see you listed a front brake rezzi... do you still have one? Also I need a rear brake caliper, whatcha got and how much? You can PM me prices if you want. I'll pay $$ but if you are interested in trading for some powdercoating I'm willing to do that too. Just let me know. Thanks Tate -
BUMP..... HELP I CAN'T STOP!!! I NEED A REAR BRAKE!!! AHHHHHHHHHH!
-
Are you sure? I just bought one for my wife and it's a mess but I did get it started pretty effortlessly after a few years of sitting outside. The compression is at 90 and 92 right now. I think they are right around 110 stock at sea level aren't they? I'm up in Denver at 5200 ft. so I figured 90-95 would be about normal... It runs and starts fine...

Need rear brake caliper and front master cylinder if you are willing to trade for powdercoating...?
