  1. I want to stay away from running straight race gas! I don't know if you've noticed, but gas prices are a little high. Especially in California! That's why I don't want to have to run just race gas! Yes I am getting my crank welded and trued after I get my engine back! Kevin Herr is porting my juggs right now! So then to awenser my question, maybe I should stay at 20's or go to 19's! Question, does advancing the timing increase compression? I ask that because I know when you advance the timing, you need higher octane fuel!
  2. Two people, braking bar, and a good strap wrench!!! That's it! Just did mine last week!
  3. I am running 20cc domes with stock timing and my compression is around 160. I mix race gas at 20%. I am getting my bike ported right now which is going to lower my compression and I am advancing my timing +6. My question is, to keep my compression the same and run no more than 50/50 race gas, what size domes should I run after the porting? I am thinking 19's or 18's. All you guys that have ported bikes, help me out!!!
  4. Most people do it because it looks 100 times better! That's why I did mine! I am glad I did too because I felt way more comfortable on my bike since I could see my front tires! Banshee front fenders are GROSS!!! :yankyank:
  5. You might be running your bike way too rich~ Mine has always smoked, but when I got new carbs, it starting smoking hell of a lot more! I checked my plugs and they were really wet! Try leaning your bike out a little bit or putting a smaller jet size! Check your plugs and tell me how they look!
  6. I'm in the middle of getting my bike ported by Kevin Herr this week and have a few questions on some things to go with it! 1.) I need to get my crank welded and trued. Where is a good shop in San Diego where I can get that done at a good and honest price? Please, anybody! 2.) I want to port/bore my stock reed cages. Does anyone have any pictures of how to do this or have a link to where I can find some good info and pictures! Kevin showed me a basic example of what I need to do, I just want some more in depth info so I don't F-them up! I'm going to remove the brass brackets on the inside and replace the stock reeds with Boyesen reeds. What size should I get? 3.) I was looking at the Barnett High Performance Clutch Springs since I will be putting out a lot more power! They're only $15. What do you guys think! Worth the money??? There was one more, but I forgot! Just to get it out in the HQ community, so far doing work with Herrjugsracing has been nothing but a good experience! Kevin has made everything very convenient and simple! He has shown me exactly everything he is going to be doing and explained why! He is overly confident that my bike will scream after this port job! We'll see how the outcome! Just wanted to throw that out there! Check out his website www.herrjugsracing.com.
  7. I'm getting an aggressive dune port from herrjugsracing this week and plan on replacing my top end while I have everything apart! Should I just do the rings and gaskets or the complete top end including the pistons! I have been looking at a couple complete kits on ebay. I know the wiseco is a good kit and comes with the pro-lite pistons. Another kit I am looking at is the Vito piston kit. What do you all recommend?
  8. Cool Anthony! Well lets find me some cheap sprockets then! That's #1 Pri! We'll mess with it when it starts to cool down and have our shees ready for halloween weekend! Yaay!!!!
  9. That's what I was worried about with the 14t. I got my 2nd gear starts down good. I hope it will still jump out of the hole shot in 2nd with the 14t. So 3 mph will make a big difference? Racing neck to neck with someone, that 3 mph will make a big difference!
  10. drag racing= haulers duning= sand skate II
  11. that's how any big name shop is! (Duncan, trinity, Alba, etc) They're all the same! They're there for the money, not for the customer!!! It's harsh, but it's true!!! I'm gonna give Allen Fox a call before Oct!
  12. I have one on mine, but after looking at all the posts on this thread, majority rules that they are junk and just cause problems! I'm getting rid of mine! What should I do, put the stock cross over tube back on, or plug the holes? I don't even know if I have the stock tube?
  13. Mine is actually with boonman right now being done! Can't wait to get it back! He is well known on this site for doing good and quality work for a good price! I'll post a pic when I get mine back!
  14. So what you're saying is that on a stock motor it doesnt matter wich one goes where, but on a bored motor, they have to marked for the right cyclinder?
  15. Well I guess we can just do that! My 14t is in my yellow tool box in your garage! I'll put mine back on when you do your 13! I don't know if I'm gonna like it just because I'm going to loose the extra torque I need for the sand! But with the +4 timing and the flywheel, it might be okay! At least I'll pull 4th harder, well faster at least!!! But with the 43, I know I can pull 5th, but that's more $$$ on the sprocket and a new chain!
  16. Me and my buddy installed our RS timing plates this weekend and we don't know where to line the number lines up to. We want to go +4. I looked at the tech tips on bluetraxx.com but that's the only thing it doesn't mention. If anyone could help me out I'd appreciate it! Pictures would be nice!!!! We still have a couple weeks before we're going to put our flywheels back on since they are with boonman! Thanks!
  17. Take it back and have him fix it. I'd be pissed if I were you! Spend the money to get your bike built and get it back in a non running state! That's some BS!!! I'd be chewing some ass for sure!!! That's my 5 cents! As for your problem, let the shop deal with it and ask for a couple free services or something for them fu##ing up!
  18. No I DON'T have a 43 on right now! I have a 41 (stock). I can pull 4th hard, but still isn't enought speed! I get beat by A FEW other shees and 450's. If I do put a 43 on the rear, I can pull 5th and be going a lot faster for the WIN!!!
  19. Yah that's what I was thinking! I think I'll go up two in the rear. But my question with that is, will I need to replace my chain when I put new sprocket on the rear? $$$
  20. I'm in the middle of doing some mods, and I want to play with my gearing when I'm done! With the mods I have right now in my sig, I can go up test hill at Gordon's in 4th totally topped out! I can shift into 5th, but it doesn't pull. I am in the process of +4 timing and lightening my flywheel. With these mods, if I still can't pull 5th, wich of the two things should I do. 1.) change my rear sprocket to 43 for more torque-with this mod, I know I can pull 5th. or 2.) change my front sprocket back to stock (14) or maybe even a 15-with this, I'll only be able to pull 4th, but at a faster speed since I'll have a taller gear! Which one do you recommend? I want to spend the least amount of money as possible too. We are kinda broke at the moment! Another question, if I change my rear sprocket, will I have to change my chain as well. (because of the wear)? Any suggestions, I'll greatly appreciate! Thanks!
  21. Rat is exactly right! Don't spend a whole bunch of $$$ when you don't really need to for sure! Drop one tooth in the front Just do the front for now!!! It makes a big difference! If it's not enough, then go up in the rear too!
  22. I'm thinking of doing reeds this summer but want some opinions on what people have used and what they recommend! I'm either going to do V-force reeds or Boyesen Rad Valve! Which one is better and will give me more power! Look at my sig for mods! I know they both are good but I want some pros and cons!!! Also going to lighten flywheel, mod shift star, and advance timing +4!
