    swingarms?

-1" or -2"!!!!!!!!!! (unless you run paddles or ride on pavement most of the time) -2" if you are running aftermarket a-arms that move your front wheels forward. -1" if you plan to continue using the stock a-arms. I run a -2" swingarm with +2", +1" a-arms and love it. Traction is greatly improved. It bites and slightly lifts the front tires, but doesn't want to wheelie over. With the stock a-arms and the -2" swingarm, it was a little different, it always wanted to be on the back tires. Moving the front tires forward 1" made a huge difference in keeping the front end down. It still gets the front end up easily, but is very controllable. I like the -2" swingarm better for hill climbing than a stock or long swingarm because I can actually get traction at the bottom of the hill and get some momentum going. I'm not a big jumper, but those that are say the shorter swingarm make the quad much more managable in the air. BUT, I hate the shorter swingarm in the sand!!! For that I run a +3"
  2. I'm origianlly from Bloomington, but I've been in the Lafayette area for the past 12 years. I still have family and friends in B-town so I still make it down there quite a bit. There are a lot of new quads out there that are better than the Banshee in a lot of ways, but none are a fun or can beat the Bans' hill climbing ability.
  3. I doubt it. But I bet they answer emails and when you call them, you get to talk to someone that knows their product.
  4. 631 but I lied, it really should have been 731
  5. I really hope that is going good for you. We need to get together and ride again. I never did make it up to Silver Lake this year, did you? By the way, were you when you started this thread?
  6. I'm going to try and make it out there on Sunday. Do you have brakes yet?
  7. Don't waste your money on the PowerNow inserts. My friend bought one for his RMZ250 and couldn't really tell the difference. just my $0.02
  8. quaddro, call Joel collect!
  9. yep, mine's been that way for a couple of years now.
  10. If you have the money to spend, I suggest changing to Paul Turner Mid-range pipes. You will get power right off idle. They will go well with your advanced timing and increased compression. They do rev out much quicker than other pipes, but all you have to do is shift. I ride mostly trails, but I love them in the dunes as well.
  11. Keep looking. A drag motor won't be very friendly on an MX track. Plus you will be paying extra for drag parts that you will just be throwing away. A relatively stock banshee should be easy to find. I may get blasted for saying this, but if you want to compete seriously in MX you should get one of the new 450s. They will spank a well prepped Banshee on an MX track. But if you love the Banshees then go for it, just know you will be at a disadvantage. Banshees are the most thrilling quads to ride, but just not the best for MX and CC racing.
  12. Sometimes the carbs have to by jetted differently. I don't know why, but I know I am not the only one that has had to do this. I run the same mains in both carbs, but I have my needles set on different clips and I adjust my air screws separately. If changing plugs and re-syncing the carbs doesn't fix your problem, I suggest moving the needle clip on the side that isn't firing properly.

  14. Good to hear you are still out there Ben. My condolensces and congratulations on your divorce. They are rough as hell, especially when other people can't mind their own business. But just know, they will get what is coming to them, eventually. It is kind of funny how almost all of us get a new truck soon afterwards. Kind of like a little, I'm doing better now sign. Because things will just keep getting better and better. The quad is looking good. Congratulations on your racing season. Hopefully I'll be able to make it to Roostfest 2006 to meet up with you again. If only diesel prices would get back below $3/gal.
  15. On dirt, you will get smoked. Sorry, but the 4 strokes just hook up better and you'll be left at the starting line spinning your tires. Launch in the highest gear that you can. I usually start in 2nd or 3rd. Sometimes 4th if on dusty hardpack. Now if you can drag on pavement, or in the sand with paddles, you might be able to beat him.
  16. There are a few hotels in Connersville. Do a search on the web and you'll find them. Haspin is not like the Badlands. There is no sand or pea gravel at Haspin. All dirt (or mud if it has rained lately). Plus there are essentially no rules at Haspin (at least not ones that they enforce). So go ahead and fill your cooler with beer and take it with you. I have never seen them run the lights at the dragstrip. It, along with the two motorcross tracks are just there to ride on. You'll have a good time (as long as it doesn't rain). Other than the dunes out west, Haspin is my favorite place to ride. I only live a few minutes from the Badlands, so I usually go there. But I rarely pass up on a chance to ride at Haspin.
  17. Did you hone the cylinders before putting it back together? Possibly the rings didn't take a seat. I suggest checking your compression.
  18. Hey thanks guys! I don't know why, but 31 seems so much older than 30. Oh well, I'm not letting it slow me down. I entered my first ATV race a couple of weeks ago, the GNCC Ironman. Eventhough I crashed halfway through and couldn't finish, I can't wait till next season. Scott (was with me at Roostfest 2004) and I plan on making at least one trip out West next year. Glamis for Thanksgiving and maybe Roostfest 2006. Hope to see you guys there.
  19. Yes, a section out of the middle about 2" x 3". It was really simple, I used a torch and it only took a minute. It didn't affect the strength of the skid plate because I have been running it this way for over two years. Yes, I think that this is all that they make. What makes theirs really strong is that they use 2" x 2" x 1/4" formed angle under the rotor and sprocket instead of just formed plate. Yes, it is a stock swingarm that I shortened 2".
  20. I called Cory and placed an order for 6 (I figured I would need spares since my banshee has been really attracted to trees lately) for $20 a piece. They should be on my door step mid next week and I'll be riding again. Thanks.
  21. I know that you need to hack up the PRM to make it work with the shortened swingarm. You have to essentially remove all of the skidplate that would cover the shock linkage. I wouldn't worry about protecting the shock linkage. I beat mine all of the time and it hasn't broken yet. A few gouges in the aluminum link, but nothing that hinders its performance or safety.
  22. I'll second that. I have beat the sh*t out of mine for years and it has held up great. Where I ride (or maybe how I ride ) is so rough that the stock skid plate only lasted two rides. The Armadillo one has been going strong for three years now.
  23. I had the same problem when I installed the TORS eliminator kit. What is going on is the slides are being pulled up too far and getitng stuck in the rubber gasket between the carb and top. Adjust the cables so that the slides do not pull up so far and the problem will be solved. Later, Matt
  24. I don't think Janssen is try to screw anyone over. I just don't think they operate very professionally. The parts manager is new and just doesn't really know what is going on. I had some trouble with Janssen when I ordered my A-arms and had my spindles reamed. I never got the feeling that they were trying to take advantage of me. I just think that they are a small shop that is unorganized and isn't run very well. I am happy with the quality of the A-arms, just not the way that they run their business. If the latest ball joint that I ordered doesn't work and sanddragon can't help me out, I will be placing a call to Joel, the owner at Janssen. As a side note: I'm thinking of getting a set of +1, +1 a-arms for GNCC racing, since I had so much trouble fitting between the trees at the last race. If I do buy a set, I probably won't get them from Janssen. If fact, I will probably get a set that have the ball joints built into the A-arms instead of ones that use tie rod ends or heim joints to mount to the spindles.
