I don't know if I would use regular spray paint. The paint will get scratched off and look like $@?! after a while, then start rusting. You might try the powder coating system that sells at Sears for about $150. I heard they have a good selection of colors and you bake it in an old stove. NOT the one you cook your food in. Do a search on here, because I read about it the other day and people said that it turned out pretty good. I think that it would be a lot more durable than spray paint. My .02............

has anyone heard of Repsol, my local shop claims this is the $@it, but I have never heard of it........

Just figured out that Sand Mountain, Nevada is going to be about 12 degrees at night and about 45 during the day. I could put on more layers, but then again it would look like the Michilin-man stole my quad . So slight change in plans and now we are headed to Dumont Sand Dunes. Is anyone else headed out there this presidents day weekend? If so see ya there............

I thought the brake line and all other parts were good up to +4 swinger before you needed to change the brakelines and all that. The chain is a definate replace because of the extra length..............

Looking to find someone who may be stepping up to a longer swingarm and is trying to sell old one. Thanks..........

It would be easy to build one, anyone know where to find either plans or detailed pictures of one? I was thinking about doing the same thing, cool project.

A member of Bansheehq took $1200 of your hard earned money and stiffed you on the motor? Oh, do tell, who might that be, because thats just plain wrong. They need to be banned from the Hq. Ya never cheat your family.................

Yes, if you put the stock box back on you are going to hurt your performance, and yes, you are going to have to rejet because you are changing the amount of air that is let into the motor (more restriction if you put the box back on). Plus you should get into the habit of checking your jetting any time you change anything dealing with fuel or air flow. Hope this helps...........

Thanks for all the info. I will call around and find out if it can be done cheaper than that (shipping). I really want to send it to jeff because I have heard so much about his work. I just need to send the whole motor because I want a 4 mil long rod with a set of cubs . I'll have to give him a call and see what he thinks I should do, I just wish he was closer...............

I am trying to find a builder that does good work and that is close to me. I really want to send my motor to Jeff anf F.A.S.T., but then I will have to ship it to Kansas (150-200.00). I am in Northern California, so anyone know of good builder's preferably in Sacramento area, but anywhere in California would be better for the shipping costs? Or do those of you who sent you stuff to Jeff think that I should bite the bullet and send it to him anyway. Any suggestions would be appreciated...........

PM Boonman, he'll hook you up with price, and where to send it..........

Ya, stay away from the Yamaha stealer unless you need parts that are oem. You should contact one of the builders that are recomended by people on this site. They are recomended because a lot, and I mean a lot of people on here trust each one depending on which one they used. Plus the stealership couldn't do the work anyway even if they were a machine shop because the work wouldn't be in a Yamaha shop manual or on a computer . I mean have you ever watched them give back change when the computer is down. Some are good to work with though and the others have reputations. Just be careful and my .02...........

flywheel lightening and timing advancing
Animalman294 replied to kluke1983's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
Contact Boonman with a PM for the flywheel and he will get back to you promptly. He does awsome work and has great customer service. While you are at it you should send him your shift star. It allows you to hit nuetral with the bike running and the shift is smoother. As far as the timing, contact Ricky Stator and for $35 you can get an adjustable timing plate and do it yourself. You should be safe with +4 degrees with 20cc and pump gas. I is totally going to depend on your compression though, and for that I wuld contact dlnoss for advice. Good luck and welcome to the HQ.............. -
Just watchin' the two teams Sunday was comical. The Steeler's played an awsome game, but I don't think the Seahawks were as precise and on the ball . Anyway Steeler's all the way........................

timing advance and lightening flywheel mods
Animalman294 replied to kluke1983's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
Boonman has extremely good service and will treat you right. While you are at it you should take the other side of your motor apart and send in your shift star. I noticed a rather nice difference in the ridability of my shee with these mods. Its about $125 bucks for all three of these mods combined, but it is money well spent. Hope this helps............. -
Boonman does some awsome work. I sent mine out and needed it back immediately to go to sand mountain nevada and abra cadabra, he saved the weekend. The improvement with the shift star was worth the money, it winds up quicker and teh shifting is a lot easier........get the Boon tune

Now thats what I like about this site is not only is the information accurate, and if its not it is quickly corrected by others, but when it is most of the time the members are cool when correcting others. Between the two of you you pretty much hit the right answer.........right on

shift pro/shift star /moded tranny
Animalman294 replied to rocketboy's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
Plus with the modded shift star you can actually find nuetral with the bike running....... -
I remember a while back I was looking though a Dirt Wheels or Sand Sport magazine and I came across a bracket that moved the axle carrier on a stock length swingarm out two inches. It looked like a bolt on item to me but I suppose I could drop a line of weld on it to strengthen it. My question is this, I could only find the two inch extension, but I am interested in a four inch extension. Has anyone seen a four inch one or is the liability too great for the manufacturers, so they just don't even bother? I was thinking about getting some 1/4 inch flat stock and designing my own, but was also wondering if there was a reason they didn't make them already? I'm working on the motor right now and can't afford to drop another $8-900.00 on a four inch swinger. I just dont want to turtle it over every time I mash my thumb down on the throttle when the engine work is done. Thanks for the input, just an idea...........

So the V-Force 2's are not being made any more and the replacement petals are going to be available for a while, but do the 3's perform as good as the 2's? I bought the 2's a while back , but haven't installed them yet. After reading a little about the 3's I think that maybe I'll send the 2's back and get the 3's. With the new snap in design has anyone ever heard of these things failing? I heard the 2's were proven, but I have been hearing good things about the 3's.

The smoking during warm up is probably due to the motor not being warm yet. When it does warm up the metal expands making the rings fit tighter so the oil doesn't leak by as much, but it sounds like he is in line for an overhaul. Yes 90 is really really bad, and needs to be taken care of before severe damage occurs if it hasn't already.

I would get the timing plate not the key, because I have heard of the keys being sheared off the shaft. The plate adjusts the timing of the motor and advancing it produces more power. I put mine on and noticed the difference, and since you have to take the flywheel off to get to the plate you should have your flywheel lightened by boonman. This allows the motor to rev faster, which allows you to get into the powerband quicker, and shift a little quicker. The two mods compliment each other......................$35.00 for the plate and PM boony to see the price of the lightened flywheel. It comes to about $100.00 total, but it is well worth it. Just my .02

The TruthAbout Lightened Flywheel!
Animalman294 replied to aguita's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
I had mine done by boonman and he had the best service around. I sent him my parts and he had them back so fast. I liked how fast my shee spooled up, I got into the RPM band really fast, and I think that was the edge that I needed to kick my brother's ass on his 660 craptor. I also had boony do my shift star, and I keep hitting neutral in my shifts, but I think that the problem is the rider and not the mod. I like being able to shift into nuetral when the bike is running. I sit too far forward and when I shift I don't think that my foot comes all the way up at times to hit the next gear and I miss it. But this has nothing to do with Boony, it has more to do with my lame ass not being able to shift right, the mods are awsome, and totally worth the money in my opinion......
