i believe that the suzuki took sport quad of the year last year did it not? i may be wrong but i have heard from a few guys that they are one of the forces to be reconed with in the 450 class. and if im not wrong i believe for 07-08 they are actualy going to be a 470??? correct me if im wrong but i think i did read that some place.. quad sport mag maybe

im not sure if im about to explaine this just right but i will give it a shot... and please correct me if im wrong anyone.. the linkless set up basically just eliminates the dog bone on the banshee swing arm and has bit of a different mounting system so the shock has a bit more room to operate and takes some strain off the shock. it helps provide more travel, and a better ride. check out lonestar or any major swing arm manufacturer and they should have a set up you can look at..

stock gearing on that bike is 16/43 i got that info from motoworld service dept so it should be 100% accurate

i personaly have not riden a banshee with this set up yet. but i have a buddy who had the linkless rear set up with an elka shock put on and he said he will never ride another quad again that does not have that set up. he said it was like going from a vw bug to a coup de ville in the ride difference

i just spent 2 hrs online tracking down a laundry list of parts for my boss' buggy. so i guess i can consider the HQ a work related resource now. i just say im doing reserch for Mike and nobody questions me. and just fyi. a good used tranny for a buggy is not easy to find these days...lol

first off welcome to the HQ you have come to the right place for banshee help.. #1 the banshee has not changed in many many years and the motor is the same in all of them. they did change a few things way back when but not the motor. #2maintenance is normal of any 2 stroke. #3 crank and top end. top end just replace as needed as with any 2 stroke and you can have the crank welded and get great life out of it. cost on a top end depends on who does it average from what i have found is about $600 parts and labor. welding the crank cost depends on who you go to. #4 look for normal things as with any bike. the person selling it will give you alot of info, check for anything that looks like it might not fit just right, plastics tank things like that will tell you if it has been wadded up and is bent any place. also feel out the guy selling it if its a private seller. look to see if his cars and other toys look like he takes good care of them that will tell you alot. #5 suspension..take the stock rear shock to your local suspension shop and have the shock valved to your weight and the terrain you will ride most.. front..i recomend a nice set of elka shocks and maybe a new set of +2 a arms to go with the shocks.. alba has a prety good deal on the whole kit its under $1000 #6 mods by past owner. i would look to see what was done most guys dont get too far into the motor, pipes jetts and maybe reeds. but cool heads are one of the things i see alot of guys going with lately. check out what was done and who did it that will tell you alot. i know i missed alot but you will get a prety good responce on here so i know anything i missed someone will pick up and post for you..

hahahaha i just keep the HQ open when the boss walks in. he usually asks me to look at sand rail sites for him and email him links..but then again my job is super kick back too and everyone here rides. as long as at 5pm i got the daily shit done i can do what ever i want here. but thats just because im lucky i guess. i actually go hit the dunes with my boss A couple times a year. and in summer we take days off to go deep sea fishing..i guess i just have to grin and bear the fact that it sure sucks to work here..

i have no problem with the fact that people want to come to this country and try to provide a better life for their family. but do it legally and follow the laws set in place for the country. here is what really pisses me off. school. your kid can sit in class and have learning slowed down because julio doesnt speak the language and now the whole class has to wait for the teacher to help the kid that shouldnt be there in the first place., our kids cant go to mexico and enroll in public school not speaking spanish so why should they bbe able to do it here. heathcare!! jose gonzales can goto the hospital and not have insurance and they dont have to pay because they are an illegal. but nancy jones is responciable for 100% of the medical cost if she does not have health care coverage. welfare. the single american mom has a harder time getting federal aid to feed her kids than juanita lopez because juanita is here illegally and cant feed her flock of kids. it is total bullshit that we pay for illegals to have the things that citzens have to fight to get and are usually denied for. why in the sam hell do we have to go around listening to people speaking spanish who are working in our stores and places where the customer is american and speaks ENGLISH. why cant i go through a drive through these days and and order in ENGLISH. i say come to the USA and enjoy our country. but you must be here legally and you must speak the language before you get anything from the public or government..if you commit a crime you are sent home to your own country. do you think any of this shiot would be accepted in countries like russia or germany? hell no, so why should we do it here?

over the weekend a friends 2 sons went out on their bicycles to the local jumps. they spent most of the afternoon there with their friends hanging out jumping and beeing 14. well on the way home they were crossing a prety busy intersection. my friends son was the 3rd one to cross, out of no place a lady in a lifted f250 runs the red light and plows right into the kid. he was hit on his left side, his femur was shattered, his tiba and fibula were both shattered his left hip was broken in 7 places, his right elbow is broken,both ankles, and to top it off his back was broken. he was in surgery for 16 hrs to repair the left leg and is going back in again to repair the hip.the doctors are saying that because of his age he will have to have a surgery every few months now to keep extending the femur as he grows. they dont know if and when he will walk again and tell himn that he will never get on a bike again as long as he lives.. here is the sadest part of this whole thing. the driver that hit him was an illegal from mexico driving with no insurance no license and does not speak 1 word of english..i spoke with the youngest of the 2 brothers last night who speaks prety good spanish (for a 12 yr old american kid) he said that the lady was telling him to get his bicycle out from under her bosses truck so she could leave befor the police arived so she didnt have to tell her boss that she broke the head light on the truck. this woman is a live in nanny for some yuppie asshole who doesnt want to raise their own kid.anyway the younger brother saw the whole thing happen and when the lady got back in the truck he was on the cell phone with 911 he told the 911 operator the lady was trying to leave and gave the plate number of the truck. a few people that saw this whole thing happen blocked her in and refused to let her leave. so you figure she would get in trouble for trying to flee the scene of an accident, she got a ticket for running the red light and that was all.anyway now this poor 14 yr old kid lays in a hospital bed in the ICU at childerens hospital because of a lady who was too concerned with being back to the house before the owner of the truck knew she used it to do the shopping. this realy pisses me off that things like this happen and our government does nothing to prevent it

happy 4-20. and its a friday to boot. nothing like a nice cup of java and a wake n bake to start the day off. then its out to the garage for a banshee build.. smoke it if ya got it

ok so i just started the tear down, i got a few things picked out and set in stone suspension a arms all of that. but im going to be getting into building up the motor. im not doing most of the motor work im having it built for me by a pro. but im looking for ideas on what to do to this thing. im already going with a cool head no matter what i do. but now what im looking for is to find out what some of you guys are running for motors. i ride 70% sand (glamis) and the rest is a mix of hard pack and desert racing. (baja style racing) what im loooking for from the HQ is to find some ideas to build a super powerful motor that will be good in sand and baja terrain. but i do not want to ride 5 hours and wrench for 10. i want to keep my shee as she is right now in that i just clean the air filter change oil gas her up and go. with the exception of a few small stupid minor things she has been as reliable as could be. never left me walking never left me at home on the weekend and starts 1st kick every time and i want it to stay exactly like that. reliable... any ideas guys? this is your chance to have input on a dream build....oh and i do not and will not be using this shee for any drags other than the sand drags at the dunes for shitts and grins

you shouldnt have any issues when changing to a new oil but some bikes only like specific oils. my shee will not run with maxima it only likes yamalube 2R. i have tried a few different oil's from synthetics to shit that cost me over $20 a quart. golden spectro to maxima to redline and others and for some reason i only get max performance with the Yamalube 2R. im not sure why but my shee is picky on the gas and oil i burn. i cant run gas from cretain places because it acts like its about to foul a plug, i run a mix of half pump gas and half racing fuel at 32:1 in average conditions to 28:1 when i know im going to be putting the motor through hell. so myt advice is try different oils and fluids all together and find one that works the best for your bike and your riding style and area.

no you cant fit banshee rims on a honda i tried and found out the hard way it wont match the bolt pattern. yopu can reem out the holes in the rim but then they are junk. you cant put them back on the shee because now the holes are too big and you risk the rim having slop on the lugs.check out some local shops or the ITP website i know there are usualy some great deals out there right about this time of year because on the west coast our desert season is comming to a fast end and everyone wants to get rid of old product they have left in stock

the mass text message aleart thing is a good idea,but one minor flaw that nobody has mentioned.. they are on a school campus in class how many people turn phones off in class?? and how many people turn the phone off in the dorm or where ever that would not get the text untill it was too late? i think if you aregoing to impliment a system like that for a situation like this it needs to be more of a mass warning system..like an air raid siren type system that no matter where you are and what you are doing cell phone email tv radio what ever they do not always get out to everyone fast enough. not everyone is around those things at all times..something to alleart you no matter what or where you are is a damn great idea. but make sure there are no chances that you dont hear the warning..if you are sitting in class or a work meeting or something and you get a text message alleart on your phone you are probibly going to ignore it untill a time when you are free to check it. and by then it could be too late. but if there was a system in place that left the guess work out of it you will know about the warning as soon as the warning is sounded.. perfect example. everyone remember the wild fires that tore through san diego a few years back.. well thousands of homes burned and half the county. but get this. you know the annoying emergency broadcasting test thing that comes on the t.v once in a while that says this is only a test and if it were a real emergency instructions would follow.. that system is in place here in san diego...it was NOT used because the local authorities said it would cause panic.. why in the hell do they do weekly testing of these emergency allert systems if it comes time that its an emergency like we had here in the fires and people need to know to get the hell out and run from the fire. IF ITS NOT GOING TO BE USED IN AN EMERGENCY SITUATION WHAT IS THE DAMN POINT OF HAVING IT???????? this goes right back to text allearts. not everyone who should know about the warning is going to get the message. we need to have a warning system in place that can be used to alleart everyone who needs to be warned at the exact same time and with a guarantee that it will reach everyone it needs to..
