  1. Try this... take a squirt bottle and spray a little bit of gasoline on your air filter. Hold the carbs wide-open and kick it over. If it fires up, you're probably not getting enough gas & I'd check your choke circuit. Maybe disassemble the carbs and give them a good cleaning. Are you running the stock head? Maybe a cool head with some aftermarket domes with a better squish angle could build a little more heat in the dome during compression and help it start when cold. Check all the normal stuff, choke tube, clean carbs, maybe try the next size up pilot jet and see how it likes it.... - Jared
  2. Since your desperate, will you accept food stamps for the cases?
  3. He means fowling the plugs.
  4. Buy one from here on HQ. There's a guy who sells lots of cool aftermarket rotors. I think he's on the sponsors list. JDS Customs. http://www.jdscustoms.com/ http://jdscustoms.com/Yamaha_Banshee_Rotors.htm
  5. Go buy a compression tester. They are $35 for a cheapo one at any auto parts store. If you don't know how to measure the above listed items you probably shouldn't be rebuilding your own top end. Not trying to be a dick, but these are some of the most basic things you should check on any banshee engine build. Where do you live? Maybe there is a bansheehq member close to you who can stop by and help you out with these things.
  6. Your buddy probably didn't really know how to tune it then. lol The dune bike in my signature is a 4mil stock cylinder bike that runs on methanol and we ride all day long every weekend in the summer and never mess with the tuning on it.
  7. Paypal payment sent for cases and crank! Thanks again! - Jared
  8. Not sure where you got the idea of having to tune anything every 5 minutes. If its set up correctly its not going to be an issue to go out and ride the drag bike from one race spot to another across the dunes. Unless you have something really jacked up, there is no reason at all to have to stop and "tune it every 5min." - Jared
  9. I will take the 10mil crank and the cases. PM me your paypal... Merry Christmas to me!
  10. Did you do a leak-down test after your rebuild? Did you check your squish clearance? Did you check your compression? What's your current jetting? Have you ohm'd out your stator and coil to see if they are within spec?
  11. Beautiful bike Can you PM me a price on the rear wheels/tires please? Thanks! - Jared
  12. I agree, don't waste your bores trying to make power. Check your static compression and see where you're at. That will be a good place to start. If compression checks out OK, then it might just be a jetting issue or weak ignition. Give Kevin @ HJR a call if you do need to rebuild, he can hook you up with everything you need at a great price. Nice guy to work with! - Jared
  13. Looking at your signature, if your squish is .035" you might consider a thicker base-gasket to raise your squish clearance up to around .042 to .048" You won't hold quite so much heat in the dome and will probably see better results. That's just my opinion though.
  14. When you say "damage" do you mean you are fouling your plugs? Just want to clarify that one...
  15. Gas = Dirt = +6 = Methanol = Sand = +6 = Gas = Sand = +6 = Not sure why you'd try that last one... lol
  16. If you dune more than drag race, look at a small-block twister or serval. Both are going to be much better suited to the dunes, and still hold their own at the drag races.
  17. That's looking better! Read up on how to do a "Plug Chop" That will tell you where your jetting needs to be, but it looks like you are getting close. Don't go lean, or you can start to do damage. Make sure you plug chop before you go any farther. - Jared
  18. Yes, just take your time and do a good clean job. Don't get into your cylinder walls or raise/lower any of your ports. Just smooth everything out and remove the casting flash. - Jared
  19. I ran a k&t ported stock stroke cub on a 4mil crank for about a year and a half. I got a set of domes custom cut for it and loved it. It was great on the dunes. Not much good at the drag races, but it was a heck of a lot of fun out on the dunes. It can be done though... - Jared
  20. A +6 will be fun with that setup. If you run it on methanol and are putting a lot of power to the ground you will probably want a longer swingarm though. The frame will handle it no problem.
  21. He already has a stock modded trans that I built in his 4mil twister. - Jared
  22. James, I've got a buddy up here who had a 1-5 N-down duneable and he rode it in the dunes. It lasted about 5 trips and he compltely broke a shift fork and jacked up some gears pretty good. He rode it like he would ride a normal transmission in the dunes. If you are aggressive out on the dunes I would stick with a stock modded transmission.
  23. Its also tough to find pistons for that setup if you are running a 110mm rod.
  24. Many people pronounce it wrong. That is no excuse to change the name.
  25. I've mixed and matched pto gears with different baskets quite a few times and have never had any issues.
