  1. Thanks J.J and all the other for your response. I meant float bowls in my previous post. My float bowls are associated with the right carbs. Yesterday i put an heater next to the shee and waited 15 minutes and tried to start it with no success at all. I was really mad and frustrated and decided to go calm myself inside and to try after diner. Working for an hour outside at 0 F is quite unpleasant. After diner i went back to the shee with a brand new attitude and i put my hands toward the sky and scream out loud: "GOD i put her in between your hands now because i do not know what to do anymore". It felt so good. I jumped on the quad to start her and at my surprise she started will only 3 kick. To this day i still do not know how i got her started and if God has anything to do with that lol I am just happy now that she started and i can ride her again. Thanks to all of you for your help. Much love to ya all and i wish you a merry christmas and that your banshee's work flawlessly.
  2. Thanks for all the reply. Yesterday i put the carbs back on and to specify for badassbanshee from the back of the bike my slides are flat, i use the stock needles and it is at the 3rd clip position. I inspected the fire on the spark plugs everything is okay. I check my plugs after kick starting a couple of times and they are wet which tell me that that fuel goes in the motor but maybe a bit too much i dunno how to tell. I run 32:1 klotz original techiniplate with high octane pump gas which is 93 if my memory is correct and put fresh gas in it. I removed the hose form the carbs to make sure the fuel pass properly and everything was good. My choke tube and everything is installed correctly. I even put brand new br9es plug in it. I tried to start it once again and nothing happens it is not even close to kick starting. I even put some quick starting fluid (desperation mode) in the plug hole and my motor would rev (burn the quick starting fluid) and after that nothing else burn and the motor stops but fuel seems to get in the motor chamber. Could it be my gas mixture or air/fuel ratio that is fuck up??? My air screw is set at 1 1/2 turn. The problem is when my shee is started it runs fine so how can it be a air/fuel ratio problem? Tonight i will start it while being pull by another atv and i am pretty sure it will start and run real good. Last time i did that using 310 main jet and 30 pilot it ran great through all gears and when the motor was warmed up i closed it waited 5 minutes and then it started with only one kick start attempt. When the motor is warmed up there is no problem at all with the bike. But because my bike sit a 5 to -5F outside i think the temperature affect it somehow. Anyway i'll start it tonight using the push start method and will give you out more info tommorow on how she runs. It has been rejeted to 320 main jet and 30 pilot because the temperature drop to -5F. Thanks.
  3. Hi esterel. You helped me in the past and i got a question for you if you don't mind. I have a shee with fmf fatty and powercore 2 silencers. I got the stock airbox with a uni foam filter. The air snorkel is removed and the lid is still on. Everything else is stock including the carbs. In the summer i ran 280 main jet and 25 pilot jet (just a bit rich) 270 would be fine but i like it a little richer. Now in winter i rejeted for -15C with 320 main jet and 30 pilot jet. My problem is the shee won't start using the kick starter only the push start method. Basicaly i need to be towed and use the compression to start it. I inspected everything the carbs are clean, compression is good 120psi and the plugs fire up real good (make fire). I even try spraying some quick starting fluid in the plug hole and the shee simply just won't start. I adjust airscrews everything is good. The problem i think is that the banshee drown in its own fuel which cause it to not start up. Like if there is too much gas going in the motor. I was wondering since you ride in the same temperature range what jet did you use and what was your mods on your shee??? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for your time. By the way when i use the compression to start the shee the banshee runs super fine. Quick response on and off throttle no problem reving from idle to WOT and back to idle. First gear to the top of six is done like a charm. So i know that my jetting is fine but the shee still doesn't kick start. Maybe i could tell you too that the shee sit outside at -15C if that can help find the problem. Once again thanks for your help and advice.
  4. Thanks for all the answers and here is an update. Yesterday i inspected my carbs and found out that there was a chunk of ice in the float bowls to my surprise. I was told by the yamaha dealership in town that it was because of the condensation and that mikuni stock carbs where know for that during winter. Basicaly when my motor is warm and i close it and leave it outside my house at -5 farenheit it build up condensation in the carbs which is tiny amount of water that freeze in my carbs and can block my fuel entry or make it harder to start. I also notice that i had a tiny gas leak from the seal and o'rings contained in the valve from the gas tank. I replaced the seals and clean up my tank which had debris in it to my surprise again because i really take care of my banshee. I bought the shee last august so i think it was the past owner who clearly didn't show any respect as to maintenance and taking care of the shee. I jump 1 size on the main to put it to 320 main jet because it was too lean on 310. In response to J.J: My float are installed correctly because there is a number written on them and on the carbs if i remember well and i match them up last time i remove them. My pilot and main jet are brand new too and were not obstructed. My choke tube are installed correctly but i didn't inspect them. I'll check them more carefuly before i put them back on tonight. I'll do as bigred350 told me and will try to spray a bitof starter fluid or gas in the air filter to see if it helps to get it started. Good idea to see if it lacks fuel. I didn't have enough time yesterday to put the carbs back on and test fire it again. I'll probably have some time tonight or tommorrow after work and will keep you up to date. And finaly does anyone have any idea of what kinf of additives i can put im my gas tank that will help to reduce the condensation effect of water in my carbs because it is cold outside after i have ridden? I do not have any place to store the shee inside it has to stay outside at -5 to -15 F. Thanks everyone for the help and i will keep you updated. I hope and pray i will be able to start it tonight or tommorrow. I want to snow drift so bad!!!
  5. Compression is good on both cylinder 123psi. My pilot jet is good too because i tried with a 27.5 pilot jet before and when i would rev out the motor and let the gas off it would not come back immediately to idle but would rev a little higher than normal for a couple of seconds and then would come back to a normal idle which means that i was lean on my pilot. With the 30 pilot jet installed right now i have a quick response on the throtle and from WOT back to idle. I installed new plugs too and it still won't start. I got it yesterday to show some sign of life but it did not start even if i heard a tiny burp from the motor. My guest right now is that i do not have enough fuel going in the motor or too much. My plug are not wet at all even if i kick start 30 times which kind of tell me there is not enough fuel. My air mixture is at 1 1/2 turn right now. When the bike runs she runs fine so i guest my air mixture is set right. I have notice yesterday that the bike when i pull the choke will not bog and would run quite good too but with a little throttle hesitation but would rev at WOT with no problem at all. I will remove my carb today and put a bigger main jet on it because of that to see if there is any difference on startup. I found out too that my gas tank is dripping tiny amounts of fuel by the petcock. Unfortunately all stores are closed today and i will need to order the o rings from my yamaha dealer which will take some time before i can test her again : ( Thanks for the help. If you have any other ideas feel free to share. P.S My magneto is on spec too by the way. I'll wait before i do a leak down test because it take more time and i need to remove the motor right? I'll look into that thanks !

  7. Need some help form the pro out there!!! I got a 2001 banshee with fmf fattys and powercore 2 silencers. I got a stock airbox with a prodesign foam filter and air snorkel removed. Stock mikuni carbs, stock reeds and stock everything else except my motor which is 0.80 over or 68mm piston size something like that. Summer jetting (70F-90F) was 280 mains with 25 pilot jet. Winter jetting (5F to 15F) is 310-320 mains with 30 pilot jet. The banshee won't kick start at all, unless i am towed by another atv so i can start it while i am on the 6 gear using the compression. Once the banshee is running using the push start method it runs fine and perfect. The plugs are medium brown. My problem is when i leave the banshee alone and it gets cold again and try to kick start it again it won't even come close to starting. Why i do not know, maybe my pilot jet needs to be to 32.5 or 35 can someone help me... I got fire on my plugs and everything is fine. My float are set to 21 mm and i have done a lot of reading and searching on here and google but i cant find any useful info to help me on what next thing i could do or check. So i need advice from the pro out here or someone who has had the same problem. Your help is very much appreciated i got a winter trip on the 26 of december and would like to be able to go with my baby!!! Any help is really appreciated.

  9. Just found out in open office how to unprotected the sheet. Go to: tools, then protection tab, then unprotected the sheet your are using.
  10. Thank you very much Sir! This is very appreciated. Would you know how to unlock the cell's so we can put in our info. I am using Excel 2010 or Open Office. Thank you very much once again. God bless you!
  11. Salut Mathieu.
  12. Thanks a lot for the perfect and fast response from you all. I am glad that we can run a banshee in the winter... I'll wait until the summer seasons end to get myself a banshee at a cheaper price and i'll take care of it like a baby. By the way, i am riding i the Mauricie region in Quebec more specificaly near St-Tite in the countryside. If there is anyone who wants to ride just let me know and time to get the banshee.... duh! Thanks a lot and have a nice day to ya all!!!
  13. Hi guys! I am new here and was planning on buying a used banshee this summer. Unfortunately i did not find yet a banshee in good condition that was worth my 3000-3500$ investment. The price range is high right now because we are right in the middle of the atv season. So since the summer is almost over, i thought there would be some pretty good deals available in late august and september but was concerned about a banshee reliability in the canadian winter season. This brings me to my question about banshee reliability in the winter. I live out here in Quebec, Canada at aprroximately 600ft above sea level and our winter are harsh, long and very cold. I was wondering if it was ok to ride a banshee in the winter out here without damaging it (the internals) or if i should wait for next summer to buy one. I know that the salts and chemical stuff in the streets damages the bike but i want your opinion purely base on the outside temperature. For example i could decide to jump on the banshee and go play hockey at the local rink and the temperature would be something inbetween -13 and 5 fahrenheit or if you prefer -25 degree celcius outside. Does anybody out here ride at those temperature? Can it damage the internals of the bike? I think i read somewhere in the forums that the cold temperature -13F for example was reducing the effectiveness of the radiator to cool the engine down thus creating an overheating engine which could ultimately lead to blowing the engine off. Is there any truth to that affirmation? It sounds logical but i am no expert... ??? My question is: Can i ride a banshee in the Canadian winter season without being afraid to damage the bike because of the outside temperature? Would you recommend using a banshee in that kind of temperature range? I really take care of my stuff and know to let the engine warm up but i wanted to get opinions from members who ride in the same environment then I. Did you ever get problems to your bike because of the cold temperature?? If somebody could enlighten me on the subject it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks a lot and much love to ya all !!!
