I was figuring that weekend since people would probably take the 4th, and rest of the week off, then the weekend, then go home sunday. Would give lots of time to ride... I haven't really gotton any other offers for dates that would work besides a few... dunno what it will be yet.

Get a ceramic ball... or a pancake bearing... or both! Or learn to ride without holding the clutch in all the time. LOL!

7500ft elev. most of the time. Keihin Carbs I believe I had like 155's to 160's in mine most of the year with a 4mil cub.

Right now its looking like July 6,7,8 OR July 13, 14, 15 July 4 falls on a wednesday this year, so maybe people could make it out the weekend after july 4 on some vacation time if they needed some days off. LOL I will be out there at KP riding that whole week, and that weekend.

LOL! You crack me up dave.

T5's LOVE porting, its T6's that don't respond to porting... -
Thanks for your service for our country, and sorry they took an eye! That sucks man. Glad to hear you are still out there riding and having fun though!

Its kind of like beating a dead horse. Its been done before, but we still enjoy beating the stupid thing. This topic comes up every couple months and each time we all get in here and add more crap. Its fun I think. I get a kick reading it every time...

I can show you all kinds of pics of his shee if you want. Its just a red/black 10mil cub. Its clean and pretty fast. I will make a post on DR here in a week or two. Want to get a date figured out with the people that aren't so "local" to wyoming, so we can accomodate them, then we will let the local wyoming and colorado crowd know the dates, because they can usually just show up whenever, and its a lot shorter drive for them anyway, and most of them can come any time of the year. I'm just trying to set up a BHQ meet at KP for people who aren't really "the locals" and get them out here durng the best time of the year. Give me some options on dates people! Right now it looks like the week/weekend after the 4th might be good. We could make it a week-long meet I guess. start it on the 4th of july weekend and go to the weekend after that. I would be out there every day, no doubt. - Jared

Yes, winds at KP get bad at night! So plan accordingly. Wind during the day is minimal, especially in the summer, but at night it gets wicked winds out there. As he said, its great because you ride fresh sand every morning for the most part, but the wind does suck at night. I can provide people better camping spots, since I'm a local, I know the hidden spots that get you out of the night-time wind. But I keep the best spot of all for myself, duh! LOL If there is no wind, night riding is the best out there. I love night rides at KP if there's no wind. Some of the best and scariest riding you will ever have. - Jared

Sounds good! I'm kinda leaning towards the beginning of july. really nice weather IMO, but I LOVE the heat. It gets up around high 80's and low 90's in july at KP. Early july is the best riding I think. Maybe after the 4th of july some time? What you guys say? Week after the 4th? Weekend after the 4th??

Well, lots of shearer guys here, so I will throw in my CPI vote. I like the CPI pies for a couple reasons... I LOVE the way they look (I had unstamped ones BTW). Yes, they fit kinda crappy on some bikes, but if you don't mind taking some time with shims or other nick-nack things to adjust the fit, they work fine. They do hit the filters sometimes which I hate. But more than anything, I like the power they produce. Not all up on top, but enough to drag race with. They start to hit late in the mid-range, which makes them good for dune riding (which is what I do) but still give some up top, which is nice for drag racing. They do die off a little too soon for me sometimes, but I still like them. I have CPI and shearer pipes and use them for different types of riding. If I were building a dune bike I would go with CPI. If I were building a drag bike I would go with shearer. - Jared

Kinda like fireman-hott I have spent a LOT of money and time trying all kinds of different combos. My thread would be pretty much like his, and longer... if I listed everything I've tried, trying to find what I'm happy with. It all comes down to personal experience, and what you think you are capable of riding and doing with your bike. If you think you can handle trails with a cub, go for it. But at least ride a cub before you try and build one for trails. I had a decked cub basically set up to de-tune it. Yeah, it was fun and moved the powerband more into the midrange instead of all on top, but it still hit harder than I would ever want to try and deal with for any kinda trail riding. That was with T5's and 33's. and I only had a +4 swinger and that was a 4mil! It would wheelie all over the place, which was handy when you're on a trail and need to pop over an obstacle. But the problem was... when you would open it up and hook up, you'd take off so damn fast you would be headed right into the next obstacle and have to shut it down and lay into the brakes. I didn't like it. It was too much power all at once. Like I say all the time... Too Much of the Wrong Kinda Power. Build it for what you have in mind, don't build something that's more at home in a totally different "climate" and try and make it work where you want to ride. I wouldn't try and dune-ride a drag bike (well, actually I probably would, LOL) or do MX on a drag bike, nor would I try and drag race with a trail bike. Build it for what you want to do with it. My personal view on things... A Cub is a horrible choice for trails, even if you "de-tune" the thing. Which is defeating the purpose of it. Why spend $900-1000 for a set of cylinders to turn around and fuck with them to try and change how they were designed to run. Spend that money on porting that does what you want and you will be a lot happier. JMO

DEPENDS ON ELEVATION!! I ran 18cc domes on 93 NO PROBLEM! I had to run personally made 16cc domes to get the compression I wanted, and ran a mix of fuel I made myself with a bunch of different stuff, but was mostly pump gas and race gas mixed with some other goodies. Depends on elevation. I ride at 7500-8500ft all the time, very rarely go any lower than 7000ft. So with 18cc domes, I could run 93 all day long with no problems, with 7 -

Thanks man! Just sent payment. Sorry, got hung up at work today. I don't mind if they aren't show chrome... might end up having them re-chromed with everything else I ahve waiting for chrome. - Jared -
I'm wondering if he didn't have some detonation which backed the plugs out, which gave him an air leak...

Lots of chrome, probably blue or black like most of my other toys, and its going to be set up to be a dune bike. I have two extra frames I started on a while back and I'm thinking pretty hard about trying my hand at a long-travel front suspension setup. Dunno yet. - Jared

The normal parking areas and places designated as "camping" areas at KP would suck with a tent, but I would be more than happy to hook you up with one of the spots I know of that would get you out of the wind. and away from people if you want. The main parking areas are only semi decent for campers and trailers and stuff. I have a few places I've found where I like to camp in my tent or just sleep in the back of my truck sometimes in the summer. If you need, you can crash at my place if you want to stay indoors some place. I will probably just drive out to the dunes and ride each day since I live a half hour away. Plus I really enjoy a hot shower at the end of the day. LOL! - Jared
