The fix is a roundhouse swinger unfortunately. I found w/the stock setup I could only run certain sprocket combinations.

BenBB is right. There is no limiter. Most builders don't run past 12,000 to 12,500 on a banshee based motor. There is such a thing as a launch limiter, but is aftermarket. Helps the motor to get traction out of the whole and then stops limiting RPM.

Get the right setup, and they will make way more hp than the t-6's on the same motor. The t-6's were designed to run optimally w/the stock porting on a banshee. They will run as well or better than most pipes on a virgin jug. That being said, most "mild" port jobs are not far off from stock.

Use to run Fatty's w/turbine core 2 silencers and passed twice at Silver Lake at 96 db. State law is 94, but they will let you slide up to 98. My CPI's on the other hand got checked at 106db. Now I have to play their game. I either truck the quad in, or I wait untill they nab someone to soundcheck them, then drive up to the gate. Works every time(so far). They are really no longer discriminating either. I have seen anything from stock 300EX's to the long travels get checked, and have seen a lot get turned away. 300 ex rang in at 88db if anyone is curious.

There are a million different things you can do. What kind of riding do you do?

There is a good chance both the nut and the stud are stripped. Can you get a screwdriver behind the nut? Wedge the screwdriver behind the nut and put pressure on it as you try to unscrew it. Should come off. The studs aren't that expensive anyway if you need one. Just tap on it when you get the nut off, it will pop right out of the hub. Get a new stud and nut from the stealership, and you are good to go.

Do you want good straight hookup, or do you want it to turn well also?

Snowmo engine. Or you could get a good lever like an ASV that adjust in and out so she can reach it.

Make sure the pilot jet is clean and you can see daylight through it. If you haven't, run air through it. Fatty's like a bigger pilot pilot jet also. depending on your airbox setup, I would run 27.5's w/ your airscrews closed down a little, or a 30 and open um up. If you find your pilot ckt is clean and still won't start, might want to look at compression. A motor will run like shit on the bottom end, and give you all kinds of trouble starting if you have sticky rings, worn rings, etc.

Quad in the back of the truck works still. I have never seen them make someone start one up to check it. Also, it is pretty easy to get around. I wait till they pull someone over to check them, then drive right on up to the gate. But as soon as they are done w/that person, they grab someone else. So really it is pretty easy to play their game. I have been turned away before, went and took a 2hr lunch and tune session, and they waved me right through the next time and my quad is definately unique looking.

Dajoge, that is my home. Best friend has a cabin there and this has been the worst year ever for sound. I have been there 5 weekends and a holiday week, and they were checking sound every weekend, only on Saturday and Sunday. The rail guys are pissed that have been there forever. Anything w/a turbo is failing unless you put a monster flowmaster or some sort of big bulky muffler. They are even turning the long travels away. Just think how happy it would make you if you were from around this area, spent $75,000 on a car, get turned away for sound, where else do you drive it? As bummed as I am about it, as my Banshee w/CPI inframes w/brand new packing fails miserably(106db) they are actually a hair lenient. State law says 94, they will let you get away w/98.

Few things...Don't buy a bike flag pole. You can get one just about anywhere in the area. You can't just go and get a parking lot voucher the day before. You don't need them for Friday, but you can get Saturdays between 9 and 10 friday night, and Sundays same time Saturday night. Otherwise you can get them the day of DEPENDING ON AVAILABILITY. If it is a busy weekend, take the time to end your duning day a hair early and get your vouchers the night before. They will be checking sound on the weekend. They do this randomly, they don't just pick out the loud ones. I have seen them check stock 300EX's this year. I used to run FMF Fatty's w/ power core 2 silencers and sparky universal spark arrestors. I would pass the sound test every time, barely. Unless you have the silencers w/spark arrestors, you will need some universals. I actually have my old set you can have for $75 shipped if you need em. Shit, you could pick em up if you decided you need them last minute. You will need to pay for a day pass state park($7 i think) and an ORV for each vehicle actually going in the Dunes($16 I think). It sounds like a pain, but if you are legal, and get your vouchers, it is really no trouble. Definately worth the effort. Any other questions, just let me know. Oh, and I would definately look at getting a set of paddles. Not necessary, but almost needed.

Someday maybe, but it's a long ways off. -
another thing. when i have trouble getting my head to seal i leave the base studs loose and torque the head. then torque out the base studs. Interesting,.....never thought of that.

Unless you want to build one yourself, it is actually cheapest to pick up an already built bike from someone who is reputable. If you spend a little time over at Planet Sand, you will figure out who has quality shit. I have seen bikes go for half what they would cost to build. Of course, if you are like a lot of us here, you want to build your own bike. But again, you can buy one of these complete bikes, strip them down, trade or sell what you don't want or want to upgrade, powdercoat and paint to your liking and still come out cheaper than buying one piece at a time. If you bought all your parts used, and got a hell of a deal on them all, say half what they cost new, you still are not going to spend less than buying one ready to run.

If you have a decent amount of time on the piston and bore job, probably better measure the piston. Are you trying to figure out what bore you are at, or if you are over tolerance?
-
If you haven't been to Silver Lake, check it out. I live in Battle Creek and it takes me about 2 hrs and 15 minutes pulling a trailer. If 250 miles is too far, you aren't going to find any better riding.
-
Switch your plug wires and see if your problem follows. Get that compression test done also.

Have you ever ridden anything fast enough to know how big of a difference it makes. Besides, a banshee doesn't really make the best mudder.

Klotz Benol Racing Castor 2-Stroke Oil?
sheefreak replied to Turbobanshee_kid's topic in General Banshee Discussion
I like the techniplate. Synthetic w/20% benol and stays mixed well. -
Pobably between $300 and $800 depending on what you want. If you go w/a real aggressive port, you will need to think about the cost of the other items you may need to accomodate the power like true and weld crank, billet clutch basket, Toomey or stiffer clutch springs possibly even a lockout etc. PM PassionRE and FASTOYS. Both do good work from what I hear. I believe Jim has a website.
-
Probably. You may be ok if you were a little rich in the first place. Did you cut away most of the air box, or just cut some holes?
-
I have an R for everything but sand and I love it. But you better get a Banshee considering your last statement.
-
Might check your float level. Also check to make sure the fuel stop needle moves freely. If these two things are good, shouldn't get fuel spewing out of the overflows all the time.
