EFI Any Manufacturers for the Shee?
blowit replied to bansheeman1988's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
Kevin, I am just curious if you have put thought into a closed loop system for your kits? We would be more inclined to work this from a ground zero stand point because many store bought ECMs have way too much EPA crap that must be bypassed for two stroke operation. I understand the issues with O2 sensing but other means can be employed for engine output data. Brandon -
Tires slipping on wheels. Brandon

The reason your coil tests bad is the test it self is wrong. We noted an error in the clymer manuals years ago and secondaries should be tested from lead to lead. I recommend testing with caps off and testing the caps separately. Coils rarely fail but get the finger most of the time because of testing errors. The coil is just a boosting transformer with so little current, it's like running a V8 at idle it's whole life. Brandon

actually, the harbor freight calipers are the best value! We have tested all brands in our machine shop and though they tend the wear out over time, they are accurate. best 20 bucks you can spend! What sucks more is most major brands are having theirs made in china as well. YOu pay for a name, not a product now a days. Hell, look at Craftsman. Decent hand tools but power tools are now complete junk. Brandon

Turn your air screws in to .25 out from seated. Possibly just lean on the bottom but that is a stretch for this problem. Brandon
-
Which ports are we talking about? what is a hair? accuracy is key here. I recommend a digital caliper at the minimum. If using a ruler, you should measure to the nearest 64th. Brandon

If you are sure your slides are synced and not hanging up when you drop the throttle, it is an air leak and probably a big one. Use propane gas without flame to run around the engine and detect an air leak. Sounds like a crank seal or case half leak. You can easily check the throttle cable for damage. Like I say, if you have a tuner you can take it to, they would probably spot it quickly. Lean run-on is an obvious sound. Brandon

If you want to measure the bottom and top of all ports relative to the deck, I can tell you if this is for a 4mil. You should be able to look down the barrel at BDC and see of the transfers align too. Brandon

EFI Any Manufacturers for the Shee?

Yeah, that is pretty much where we are and why we have not broke ground on that. 1K seems to be the bottom dollar budget EFI build for us and I highly doubt there are too many out there willing to buck up for such a system. Cool thing is they sound like an F1 car with injection and NO plug fouling. Cool points don't pay for our engineering costs though. Brandon -

We have been toying with the production idea of economical EFI for the banshee for years as I have modded many systems with EFI and mechanical injection and they do run sooo much smoother and more responsive. The key is just what would the every day banshee enthusiast pay for an efi kit? Is it worth the efforts? Brandon -
I really doubt in the intake gasket just cracked. Probably tore during removal. Carb slides will cause huge running issues but would not cause a WFO condition. I still think you have a frayed cable or something. I do not fully understand what it's doing. You hit full throttle and it does not come down or you barely touch the throttle and it goes WFO on it's own? I really think an experienced tuner could tell you in about 5sec. A bad thottle cable will do this. Are you sure the clutch basket or flywheel are not on basakwards?? Brandon
-
Yes, ai three jaw. Then buy a new flywheel. YOu will have to have the inside puller to keep from damaging the wheel. Brandon
-
I highly recommend some better measuring tools or have it done by a shop or this will come around and bite you in the ass! Clearances are not negotiable and set for a reason. Piston breakage and cold or hot seizures will result. Know your clearance! Brandon

I think I would find the source of the problem before I throw parts and cash at the problem. TORS get a bad rap because of a lack of understanding of the circuit. Once you can determine the TORS boxes on the carbs need repair, you will find they are rather easy to repair and adjust. Brandon
-
Air screw settings will change with the seasons and temps. Sounds like you may have a cable issue. If you still have the TORS carb tops, they can hang up inside. Might try looking into the carbs and hit the throttle with the bike off and see what is going on. You may also be experiencing lean run on from an air leak. Would sound similar to bike running out of fuel. Probably because it is. Brandon
-
The adjuster on the bars is absolutely not for adjusting the carbs and will create huge headaches with TORS equipt machines. You must have slack in the throttle cable for many reasons. Brandon
-
Either a ground or a harness issue. Try moving the handle bars around when kicking. Also, set a plug against the frame instead of engine to test fire. If the engine does not ground to chassis, that is a problem. Broke wire, ground, bad terminations, that is about all you have left. B
-
Generally, when the gear fails, it really fails so you should be able to kick the bike over with the impeller cover off and inspect for good rotation. However, if the impeller is bad, the cover is coming off anyway. Brandon
-
Bill, I am not real sure what you are doing but a simply unplug the the TORS box should get you going. Tell me what your problems are and why you are replacing things. You should not need to install a high resistance ground loop and it could end up causing problems if you do not have a diode on it. Come out with the story and start there. Brandon

Anyone have use or know about Iridium NGK Spark Plugs?
blowit replied to richybanshee's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
The resistor type plugs are used to help collapse back voltage from when the plug fires. There is a return voltage that can harm sensitive electronics and create noise in audio systems. Bests to use the resistor type plug but the non-resistors have been used for years without issues. Brandon -
Would seem you are working with a 68mm cheatah but get some more info and pics and that will help. Brandon

The numbers do not ring a bell. The correct numbers should be in the center of the dome. Yes, you have detonation from either lean, too much timing, or too much compression for a given fuel. You can measure your bore or piston to determine what you have for size. You can also post soms pics of the piston and I can tell you what you have. You will need to find out why your motor popped before repairing it. Brandon

On the venturi stacks. We build them and yes they do work. Venturi technology is not a gimmic of any sort. The only reason they are a little pricey is the polished Aluminum stacks that are not cheap to build but hold up well. We have plenty of motocross racers using they with no worries about support. They would not be like bolting on some 35mm carbs but will flow better than any other setup we have tested yet. Hope that helps answer your question. Brandon

\ What this means is you need to install the shift, and put a bars stool directly over the engine and straddle the engine. make sure you are hammered when doing this for better effect. Now, as you shift through the gears with your foot, make engine noises to simulate a 120hp cub motor. if you keep missing shifts, that means you might have the tranny assembled wrong. Brandon
