  1. I would say leave all the jets in to start with, just pop off the float bowls and go nuts with the carbn cleaner. Put it back together and try starting it. If that doesn't do it, then you probably need to pull the jets.
  2. Boyesen sells a couple different styles of reeds that go on the stock cages. Which are you looking for?
  3. What sort of shape is the frame in now (blasted bare or OEM coating)? I am pretty much just after the title to go with my soon to be made custom Hill Shooter frame.
  4. I am fan of the Direct Drive and HS Customs spindle mounts. You do realize that you have to delete your front brakes with these wheel correct? The size really depends on what you intedn to do. If you just unload the bike and head straight for the drag strip then the smaller the better. If you do anything else in the sand, you need to be looking at the larger, less ornate spindle mount wheels.
  5. Stick with the knobbies. Any front sand tire will get chewed up real quick offroad.
  6. FireHead

    Front tires.

I agree 100%. I run the same STU front tires. You will notice a marked improvement in cornering over knobbies.
  7. RMATV for the tires. eBay or Trinity for the pipes.
  8. That's a good question. I would be interested in the answer.
  9. Let me be the first to welcome you to the site. I am a big fan of your work. Additionally, I may be making a move up to the Portland area in which case I will certaily need to talk to you about getting a few sets of Legalizers as well as talk to you about a hill shooting frame.
  10. On an internet forum or elsewhere..................if you behave like you do on here, I am sure that you are very unsuccessful. Grow up.
  11. http://www.hscustoms.com/Category/Gallery/0.aspx That frame is something along the lines of what I am thinking about.
  12. Money really won't be the limiting factor in this project. I like the looks of Twister and HS Customs frames, but I haven't heard much about who's frames perfom the best. I am not going to use a stock frame for this project for many reasons. This frame will be what my triple is going in.
  13. I have never had anything fixed by them. All of my tire failures have generally resulted in something that was not worth repairing.
  14. I think they were literally called FMF Hi Rev's. They don't make them anymore, but I have heard they were good pipes. I may need to find an excuse to run a set some time.
  15. Lectrons tend to be more popular in the drag racing side of the sport. I would post your question over on www.planetsand.com and see what they say.
  16. I would clean the carbs. If the slides were sticking that might mean you have some sand or dirt in there that may also clog a jet.
  17. 80-120 ought to get the job done.
  18. That also happened to me once upon a time.
  19. Beat me to it.
  20. Family is one of my motivations to move back up north as that is where I am from. I just have to wait until the end of the week and see what I get for a written job offer. Hopefully it will be as simple as gettin Allied or American van lines to box my crap up and throw it in their truck, load my quad in the back of my truck, throw the Harley on a trailer and haul my ass up to Portland. On the other hand it could wind up being ah uge pain in my ass. Either way, moving from SoCal to Portland at the same salary level is almost like doubling my my salary. That's my get rich quick scheme.
  21. Some of us use diesel fuel to clean parts as well. All of the other brake and carb cleaners suggested above work well too.
  22. The 4 cylinder engine sucks. It gets the same gas mileage as the 6 cylinder, but doesn't make much torque and you have to rev the crap out of it to get it out of it's own way.
  23. Dave Moore makes them as well. They are the best that I have seen so far.
  24. It sounds fine to me. Of course, I have never heard a set of silencers that are modified like you have done.
  25. Preference, and the fact that Boyesen RAD valves don't work with many aftermarket intake manifolds. From my personal expeience, I have got more usable power out of the RAD valves on all of my motors except for the one that is currently in in my red bike. I have visited both companies and there is certainly better quality control and development at Dag Boyesen's facility. You may notice that alot of the bigger motor builder's use VF2's and not VF3's. It really comes down to what a builder can make work and sell.
