  1. I use this.
  2. It's a great idea. I just wanted to pass on what Dinner had in mind so you knew what the deal was if he didn't use your idea.
  3. Since when does adjusting the preload on the springs make them stiffer?
  4. What kind of shocks are those?
  5. It's not necessarily that expensive of a machine that you need to make them, but once the machine is set to make them you can't really make anything else without pulling out some of the tools (if you have a more expensive machine that holds more tools it would help, but then you have to make that much more money with the machine to pay for it). To complicate the matter further, you don't really need a live tooled CNC lathe (a live tooled lathe costs about twice as much as a standard 2-axis lathe (the live tooling servos can be bloody expensive as wel)) to make many other items in the genre of parts Mod Quad sells. What I am guessing they do is make the impellers in a two setup operation on a vertical CNC mill. The problems you have with this method is that you have a harder time controlling concentricity and roundness. If the Mod Quad impellers are in fact aluminum (I still haven't confirmed that), you have to wonder why they made that material choice. It's not the worst choice, but it seems like the delta in cost between the aluminum and stainless wouldn't be a compelling enough reason to make the decision based purely off that. Like I said before, if you have a problem with a Mod Quad part, you need to call them. They have some of the best customer service around.
  6. That won't get two full size sport atv's in length wise. I have tried it. :miner:
  7. The company that did the big framed cover I mentioned earlier is a third party company. They do advertisement replication as well. If anyone is interested, I can ask the guys who bought me my framed cover and see if they will tell me how much it cost and if they have the contact info for the company who did it.
  8. I think I had just got my first dirt bike around 1986. :ermm:
  9. I have been to Boxcar once and I liked it. It has a great racing hill. I actually have another question for the Oregon folks here. It is going to be a bit before I get the machine shop swuared away at my new work and I would like to continue to make progress on my triple. Does anyone have access to a CNC machine or two? All I really need is a 3-axis vertical mill, but I can work with whatever. In exchange for help, I would be happy to either make you a duplicate of my triple once I get it out of the initial development stage or I would be happy to do any design, machining, or composites work that you would like (car, ATV, motorcycle, or whatever). :geek:
  10. I like the looks of those arms. Thanks for reminding me I was wrong about the aircraft stripper thing again by the way.
  11. I have been to Florence on a couple big weekends. It's not that bad unless your camped next a bunch drunken hillbillys.
  12. There are two factors in play here. The PD units are made of more expensive stainless steel and the Mod Quad units are made from aluminum from what I gave been told in this thread. The other factor is that Mod Quad really doesn't have the quipment to making a part like an impeller in an efficient manner, or atleast they didn't the last time I saw inside there shop (it's been a few years now).
  13. Ahh yes, I am still thinking in terms of the California duning season. I will be there for memorial day weekend. I already know that I have that time off as well. Big crowds are ok once in awhile.
  14. Do you know anything about them? I know dajogejr just bought one, but he apparently hasn't seen this thread yet.
  15. Right on. I will take you up on that offer. As soon as I find a place to live and get a moving company lined up I should have a good idea of when I will be up there permanently.
  16. If you're looking for a kit, I have no idea based on what everyone else has been saying. I will be in them arket for a full bike kit here soon and I'll let you know what I come up with.
  17. I would be calling Mod Quad about that problem. They will pretty much stand on their heads to supports their products.
  18. Schweeet! I have always wanted to join a club.
  19. I was assuming we were talking out being on the lake bed. I have never been off in the trails back there.
  20. I agree. If you are willing to resleeve the stock cylinders the limit winds up being something like +16mm stroke (I can't remember what it is exactly. I figure it out once). I think the largest you can go with a commercially available sleeve is +14mm. This would be a question to ask on Planet Sand. I am not old enough to know what was done to Banshee engines before the appearance of aftermarket cylinders in the industry.
  21. Some one was selling enlarged and framed magazine covers I saw awhile back. I am not sure how it all worked or how expensive it was, but they looked nice. The guys at work bought me one for my birthday last year, but it wasn't an ATV magazine cover is was an Autosport magazine that had a few of our pictures on the cover. :geek:
  22. Some of the camp grounds don't allow alcohol and if you're sand camping, open alcohol containers are not allowed on the sand. It's all very hard to enforce..............but, fairly silly just the same. Atleast I'll only be 40 minutes from sand now. The only real problem is I hate moving. I have to work on getting a full service moving company set up tomorrow. :shoothead:
  23. You can fit them in sitting on the bed rails sideways. If you have an extended swingarm or anything that extends the wheelbase of the bikes that method will have less of a chance of working. Other than that, standing them on their ass is the only other option besides buy a trailer. If you stand them on their ass you may want to consider taking the fenders off the bike or atleast decide that you don't mind stress marks in the plastic becasue the wind will be molesting them once you get going down the road.
  24. I only ride in the sand, but I tend to agree with you. I only use them because they come in pretty colors.
  25. I really think he just wanted a cheaper source for an Outerwears style product. He didn't seem very interested in my source for the bulk material.
