Forget the yfz shocks. If money is a concern get some used dual rate works with rez. Those are great for mx. And you can get shane to rebuild them for you. You wont get so much roll on turns. The yfz shocks are one step up from stock. Works are about ten and any others are about twenty.
I have a good idea. Buy shocks made for the banshee. You get arms with the shock mount out and inch and your stuck with the 450 shock. Or shocks made for the 450. I do see alot of people taking them off and selling them?
I thought the thing was awesome compared to the junk aluminum plates. My problem was that it took alot of area up and didnt do very well for me on the trails with deep ruts. It seemed to hang up. I went back to the stock plate.
I can tell you. A big difference. My friend has those yfz shocks on his banshee. They seem plush as long as your on the gas. They fad fast. He can tell you the same my pro triples are a world of difference. those shocks seem on the heavy side too.
The shock mount on the lower arm is too close to the pivot point for those shocks. They are over worked and alow the arms to pivot beyond what they were made for. You are going to run into problems with your ball joints and heims. I have a friend with them and he is destroying his front end with those shocks. An easy thing to try is jack your front end up and look how far the shocks allow the arms to drop.
I went and when I showed there was a security guy at the gate and he said tornados were spotted in tampa so they closed and would open early sunday. I found out later online they went ahead and raced. I was pleased.
I race hairscrambles once a month. I usually wack a tree everyother one and its usually against the arms. Alot of times I go over the bars. Every time I hit a tree I think thats the one that bends my arms. But no joy. Im still riding on the same ones.
