Im runnin Pro-X. And the only reason I didnt go with wiseco's is because of the guy that bored my cylinders. I wanted to put the pro lites in there and he said nothing compares to OEM or Pro-X. I asked about Vitos Pistons...and he said that Vito's are wisecos just with somethin grinded off....cant remember...I think it was somethin with the exhause portion. Anyway, like I said, Im runnin pro-x and if my shop tech is right....I will be runnin these for years to come. Just like the OEM's that lasted 8 years in my shee. I was down to 95 psi per cylinder before I opened her up and fount that I was 7 thousandths out....and yamaha calls for only 6 thou. Now im at 138 per cylinder.... Im going to stay up on the rings this time. I figure changin out the rings is wayyyy easier and less expensive then getting her bored.

I ride R/A Shredders. And love um. Ive had holeshots too...and nothing beats um. except for the mx's...man they wear fast. R/A's are not as expensive as holeshots, but pretty much the same tire. Plus the fronts have a killer bead running down the middle. To me it acts like a fin in the sand and keeps my tread off the ground when I have to hit the pavement. I also have a set of holeshot XCR's for the back. 22inch. And to me they are only good for clearance. In fact they hook up wayyy to good. I only put them on when im doing some forrest crashin...or I know that it will be real rocky or muddy. I should put that vid of me on the 22's doin a wheelie out of a dounut and riding one tire till I catch air and lay it down anilalaiting the left a-arm. 20's for me .....

I smoked my clutch out in Oregon dunes. My buddy had a new ebc kevlar spare...so I used it. I didnt have the handy clymers with me ... so I was goin off the written instructions. use 3 stock and 3 aftermarket springs....doesnt much matter which aftermarket. With all 6 aftermarket you will notice a harder pullin clutch. I have a toomey in mine...and that was after smokin a new EBC Kevlar. I didnt adjust the centre screw and align the arrow on top the case. Major fuckup....but the instructions didnt say anything about it. It wasnt untill I got the toomey and it had complete instructions. Now all is good. I turned the shee on her side and I changed it out right there in the dunes....I wouldnt of even had to change out the oil if it wasnt all full of burnt up clutch. but it was cool to change it on the side like that. toomey clutches from now on for me.
-
Yup wiseco's.

So were you drunk? or smokin a bowl or something? I hate sober accidents....but thats when they happen to me. hope you got insureance...cuz if you do...youll come out better than when you went in.

Im with Loco. I use a pipe wrench and tighten the shit outta them. I have even used a hammer on some old ones. But one thing is to be said. I am currently on my third axle....and only one set of nuts has given me a problem. They would come loose on every ride...to the point where I would tighten them in between rides. Then I bent the shit outta that axle and got another one. It came with some nuts...and they havent some loost since. In fact, Noss sent me a locking nut for free when I got my cool head....and I havent put it on...cuz the new nuts are working great. I will replace it when i do my bearings again....or bend another axle.

2000 YAMAHA MX BANSHEE STOLEN
knight_ripper replied to njbansheerider's topic in General Banshee Discussion
whats a bummer is that we post our pics and shit all over the net....cuz were quad enthusiasts ... and all fukers gotta do is search around till they find a bad ass quad like that posted...then bam...your shits gone. I live in the hood in Nor Cal. Dudes round here dont even know what it is much less how to ride it .... or for that matter .... how to off it. so hopefully my day will never come. Plus the full coverage ins will help if it does. and at 18 bux a month its worth it. -
let me tell ya. I got a Trail Tech spedometer on mine. I have 13-41 gearing with 20 inch rears. and a top spead of 67.4 miles an hour. when I throw on the 22 inch tires. it pops me up to a whoppin 72.3. now. Im about to get in some new gears...cuz i wanna hit 100. so I figure 15-41 gearing with my 22's should do it. I will post when I do it. Probably in a week or so. and thats a fact Jack.

But when your willing to drive a few hours....there are sooooo many places to ride. not too many banshee's around here either. Kinda like it that way. Makes me feel special.

Yo...whats up guys n gals. In fact this was a post for weather...but if any of you guys....especially the gals are going to be at sand mountain this weekend ... hit us up. The flags on our rides are american flags and black skull and crossbones. So if you see us say hi...or come by for a shot of whiskey. Ok back to the post. Anyone know if there is still snow on the mountain? or has the rain washed it all away? Also, how is the sand packed? hard enough to not need paddles? Also, ive never noticed puddles out there .... but I guess if it rains hard enough it might. the reason I ask is I am in California....and its been raining like a droolin saint bernard down here. Im hoping its not going to be raining all weekend or snowing for that matter. Also, i know it can be windy, should I bring some stuff to tie down to. Just getting an idea of the stuff I should bring. Other than water...and gas. thanks for the info....cant wait...Im almost there. Big air this weekend.

Sparkzilla is still looking for you..........You owe him from last time he bought from you and you ripped him off with bad parts. I wish I knew how to link threads....cause Id link his to this one.

Yup T-6's are only good for stock engines...in fact they are sapposed to be better than the 5's. Even Toomey says so. But if you ever plan on modin your engine.....T-5's are the way to go.
-
True that. And with Banshee's they are a constant work in progress. If you ask my friends, they would tell you that Im working on her more than riding her. But thats because they require sooooo much maintenence. And if you dont keep up on it shee wont last. But Motul is right, I cant count how many times I have taken her out to ride and something happens.... Just a month ago, I was riding the dunes....when all of a sudden I had a stuck carb. I killed it quik....then after sitting there with no-one around for 20 minutes I decided to kick it over pound it into second and get my ass back to camp ..... in a hurry. lol. literally. I took apart the carbs and wa la. the slide guide had backed its way out of the carb. Luckily it was still there, so I pushed it back in and filled the hole with some sylicone. And off I went. I hope it holds.

? 4 those of u dat have Trinity engine work
knight_ripper replied to chingaso's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
My buddy just had his 400ex rebuilt by Trinity. He had them put in the 465 kit. its the 440 kit but stroked and ported. Anyway, he hasnt been able to get her to "pimp status" since. He has called them numerous times with really no help. They offer suggestsions but thats it. He is too far to take it too them so he is screwed till he gets it tuned in. But I have read numerous forums on motor work and getting it dialed in. As far as I can read, its about the hardest thing to do. Almost like you have to be a jetting guru in order to tackle it. And if you arent a guru when you start, you will be when you finish....lol. -
Thats funny, cause the first thing Todd @ TCS told me to do once I put on my new rebuilt rear shock is to adjust the sag. He said that the sag should be about 4 inches....so how you measure the sag is too.... Measure the height of the grab bar from the ground to the middle of the bar. Then sit on the shee and measure again from the ground to the middle of the bar. You should have 4 inches difference. If you have more than 4 ..... tighten the spring by turning it. And if you have less than 4 inches....loosen the spring by turning it. You can call Todd if you have any questions.....thats what I did. Again, thanks Todd my rear has never been so soft and squishy.......works great.

I just replaced my top end. I had 110 PSI per cylinder at the beginning of the summer, and by the end I was at 90 PSI. So I took the top end apart to see what I'd find. I too was scared....afterall...the banshee is a 5000 dollar toy. So I took in the cylinders to a machine shop and had them looked at. The dude then told me that I was 7 thousanths out....and if I was only 1 thousanth less...I would not of had to bore. but since i was out of factory specs...I had to bore her 1 over. Also, the machinest talked me into some PRO X pistons....versus Wiseco's....says they are the next best thing to stock. After all my stockies lasted me 6 years. But no worries mate. Buy a banshee book, be it cylmers or a factory manual....and go to town. I replaced the head with a NOSS head ( red anodized ), and put on some V-Force reeds at the same time. I also replaced the clutch.....which I smoked on the first dune trip to Oregon this last weekend. Not to change the subject....but Damn....Oregon has some thick sand. So, take it step by step an follow all the directions....youll be fine. And if you f*ck up....no big deal...cause you wont know till you get it all back together. And at that point you will no longer be a rookie. And to prove my point....that was the first clutch time I have ever replaced a clutch.....and because I didnt read all the instructions I didnt adjust the pull rod assembly....and as you read.....smoked my clutch. So instead of packing up and going home, I went to the local yami shop in Coos Bay OR. purchased a Toomey Clutch (which the had on the shelf) and replaced it right there at the dunes. Then rode for the rest of the trip. Also, that yamaha shop on the edge of town in Coos Bay ROCKS. They had everything you could think of for a banshee....all the aftermarket stuff just sitting and waiting. We dont have any shops like that here in Sacramento, CA. We have to order everything.
-
Lets see.....Hmmm we are all die hard Banshee freaks in here...... Therefore I see a shitload of Yamaha's coming your way. I myself choose Yamaha. Why you ask? Cause I bleed blue!
