  1. Could have worn springs, take them out get your book for the specs and measure your valve spring freelengths. Also make sure all your gaskets are the right gaskets. Thinner ones may cause valve to piston contact. Thats head, cylinder, and base gaskets. Not sure about your springs, but when you re-install them if they are anything other than single rate make sure they are installed the right way. (tighter band of coils down)
  2. What screw is missing from the carb. If one of the big circle ones with the flat head slot in is missing, don't replace just take those off and get a tors removal kit. Let me know what screw your missing in there.
  3. That is a pretty big jump up for just some pipes, you are getting way too much fuel in there, pulling the choke out is giving even more fuel, thus stalling out your bike. You need to go back down on those.
  4. No, you are not showing any signs of a blown haed gasket, I would leave that alone for now. You would know if the gasket was bad. Not to sure from what you said how you came to that conclusion on your impellar, take thee cover of and get in there to physically check out the impellar, they are plastic and damage pretty easy.
  5. Head gasket will cause more problems than just spitting from the overflow. It is just getting hot, run some inline coolers with the engine ice. Does it blow white smoke out of the pipes? If its not doing anything but spitting some coolant, I wouldn't worry too much about it.
  6. Here.That may help
  7. Throttle cable needs some mo' free play.

  12. You should look for a seller that says "good wiring harness", hopefully then you'll get one that is corroded with all the insulation gone off all the wires. KARMA!
  13. I have always asked myself why yamaha has never integrated the powervalve system into the banshee. I spoke to a Yamaha rep the other day at school (motorcycle mechanics institute). He said that there is no real hp gain in the powervalve system, just more usable powerband. With the banshee revving so easily with alot of usable powerband they found no need to put it on. Kind of a wierd answer for a factory rep, but thats what he said. I think it was selling so good as is that they said f' it it's cheaper without it. I dunno, but when they started putting it on snowmobiles it really helped out alot, but they also use variable ratio clutches. I still think it would be a good idea, along with one big flatslide carb.
  14. I don't think you preloaded the return spring. Like mentioned above. get a clymers and do it again.
  15. They are 6 speed.
  16. You would make alot more money parting it out. Sounds like alot of time and money into it to just get 3 grand for it. My boy just made 5,200 parting out his, another made 4,700. Thats the route I am going, just as soon as I am done being lazy.

  23. How do you like the twist throttle on your bike. Seems like right turns wouldn't be bad, but sharp left turns seem a little hairy. Been thinkin about doing it though.
