Jim, did lonnie let off at the end or did the motor sign off that quickly?
-
There really is a million variables that will depect what rpm a motor can rev to. Pipe, porting, compression ect ect...
-
I've had a lot of people calling asking about how we were going to do this. I really am not sure what the best way to do this. Honestly I think that just good old fashion dune racing is going to be the simplist way without organization. I really think that everybody will be on the honor system on your setup and just run what you brung. I have had more interest in ruling the stock cylinder class than anything else. We have had several calls also asking if this was a builders race. I just wanted to let everybody know that this isn't a organized event jus good ole fashioned dune racing. Everybody is more than welcome infact the more the better. Also we are pushing this as a all welcome race, sponsors, non sponsers, independents ect. So push ur favorite builder to come! If anybody has any input beyond just run what you brung feel free to share.

At 8000rpm it is around 25hp difference and i have done many since that make 90-100 at 8000 rpm. Jim i have been into your motors as well as many other big name builders and you def have a style all of your own. Thats simply what i was trying to say is that the pipe seems to work well with your porting cant wait to see how it responds to everyone elses as well as Calvins.

I never said that we did but i can show you that much or more on alky. Honestly i dont have a bike in the shed that is on gas. Ill look threw some dyno sheets and see if i can dig one up im sure i have some, but most likely not with the exact combination of parts (except pipe) that you guys used so that wouldnt really be fair anyway. Im not trying to turn this into a pissing match so dont take it that way, you obviously have a dog in this fight (a fight it is not). I just dont think that a unbiased test can be made comparing jims new pipe to matts if jim did all the porting. Dont get me wrong i hope that this pipe works just as jim says it does. I would love to try a set on one of my bikes on my dyno which i have plenty of dyno charts with shearers now. Jim your post on atvdragracers got deleted because you are not an advertiser and they took your post as an advertisement as well as they might here. Matt is a sponsor on adr and pays to do what you were doing for free. Im in now way a mod nor did i ask for your post to be removed and dont think that anybody did. I like competition as it spawns for better parts. Im not a pipe builder nor do i want to be so i do not have a dog in this fight so to speak.

Do you have that dyno graph? I'm just curios how the pipe will perform vs a shearer on a motor that is like 99% of the cubs out there which is close to as cast. I'm not bashing your work or your pipe but a little high strung is not 20-30hp off in the mid range. Now I know that there are diff in dynos and builders ect ect but it seems that the pipe works much better than the shearer on your portwork but what about as cast or every other builder. I know I'm right down the road. Jim knows where my shop is as well. This is jims pipe and jim is doing the r&d, just asking some questions and stating what I see. I promise I'm not the only builder who has these questions.

I would like to see a comparison on a as cast cub that is nothing but cleaned up. The front side of the graph looks way off to me. A as cast 4mm dont peak as high but are a good 20-30hp stronger at 8000 on my dyno and several that i have seen on other dynojets. Not questioning your design it just raised an eyebrow to me compared to everything we have done and everything that i have seen from other builders.

How to calculate compression ratio?

most likely for a 4 stroke but it dont accomodate for a head gasket. -
How to calculate compression ratio?
No Limit Powersports replied to robert0762's topic in General Banshee Discussion
If your wanting to calculate trapped compression you will have to know the exhaust height and the volume of the head and the volume of the dome on the piston as well as deck height. Deck height on a stock cylinder is in relation to what base gasket you are using there are too many variables to just say it is .0xxx Compression ratio are read as 15:1 read 15 to 1 which means that its taking compressing the volume of 15 units into 1 unit. Calculating the dome of the piston can be tricky and you have to know the specs of the piston. The dome rise on a 513 piston is .16" Basically you have to take the volume of the cylinder at the point where the piston closes the exhaust and divide that by the volume of the cylinder at tdc...lmao easy enough -
4mill 110 vs 115
No Limit Powersports replied to dicedealer702's topic in General Banshee Discussion
I have a good understanding of how it works but everytime i look at that animation i end up studying it for a hour lol. It really shows how the piston speed changes in all 4 quadrants of the rotation. -
4mill 110 vs 115
No Limit Powersports replied to dicedealer702's topic in General Banshee Discussion
There are differences between the long rod and a short rod. Rod to bore ratio is one of the things that I feel gets overlooked more often than not. Different length rods will dwell at tdc and bdc longer. A shorter rod will open the ports sooner but a long rod will close them sooner. So a short rod vs long rod motor can have performance differences. Then on the other hand as said above a longer has less of a rod angle and puts less stress on the piston to cylinder wall. Some builders like short rod ratios and others long. For me it really depends on the bore size for the rod that I like.

And you can setup a cub with a 115 or 110 rod in 65 or 68 bore you would just use the 513 series piston for a 110mm rod 65mm bore or a 9768 series piston for a 110mm rod 68mm bore. For the 115mm rod stuff its a 795 for the 65mm bore, and 573 for the 68mm bore. The piston height only compensates for the rod combinations that we set up a motor for to get the deck height correct and the port duration we we feel they need to be. On a stock cylinder the 513 piston is for the 110 rod and the 795 for the 115. A spacer plate is used to compensate for the added stroke or you can cut a dome and let it pop out the top.

Here is a flash animation where you can really see the differences! Notice the longer rod exagerated and the tall piston on the short rod both of these have the same deck height and stroke just different rods. Also notice the angle of the rods at the same duration.

Long rod vs Short rod -
new engine build, crank not centered in case?
No Limit Powersports replied to lt1bird's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
Im not sure what tz bearing that you have but the oem style ones that we run have a groove for the circlip. The inner bearing should be pressed on all the way to the crank cheek on both sides. -
I would love to see some good stock cylinder racing as well. I dont have any in my crew but im sure that i will have some customers out there that do. Or maybe i should just do one to show some of our portwork off. I know its not fun for anybody on a 75 hp stock cylinder to race a 140hp dm but thats the nature of the dunes. As always you find bikes that are close to your field and jump in with them. We can do some sort of cylinder or cc race if we can figure out some way of being half way organized but I just dont see it happeing. IMO CC limitation is fairest but to hard to organize on the dunes. The way i see it going down is about like always, everybody pretty well knows what you got or you get asked at some point, especialy if your tuning heads, and its just the honor system from there. At the end of the day everybody will know whos getting down the track consistantly fast and who isnt. Are yearly spots are the top right 2 144 and 143 i think. We might even do a big cookout for everybody one night like a customer appreciation grill out. Of course everybody is welcome my customers or not, other builders would be welcome as well.

No Limit Powersports replied to thebrittishguy's topic in General Banshee Discussion
Sorry man must have deleted your pm send me another. Sorry about the delay. -
Waynoka a small little town that revolves around the sand. You can get anything and everything that you need there as far as food and supplies. We bring a ton of parts out there as well as several other local shops for parts. LOL NO just dont want to see Tims little chicken legs, or get him picked up by a arizona trucker that would take him home lmao... Thats why we run meth its just so much cheaper lol

Cam you know that we want you in the races your stuff always runs good. I used to love the smooth drags, I still remember building the first Stock stroke cub and letting Calvin ride it across the dunes to the drags. It was the first cub he had rode, and myself included. I dont want anyone to think that this is a builder only race cause its not. We want everybody to come and be able to see the builders best of the best dune builds. Whether its there own stuff or a customers stuff. I have tons of customers that i would be prob to have represent me at LS and usually have a ton there anyway.
