  1. You have to understand that this motor has the capability to do what most builders can only try to do. This motor was built as what i would call a perfect trail/dune motor. As most have there own idea of what a "perfect" motor is and we cant satisfy everybody with one setup, I feel a motor that is 100% setup for bottom end is not the perfect setup for the duner, duners typically want a motor that will rev as well. IMO and thats exactly what it is "opinion" i feel that this motor will be setup a bunch of different ways some great others not so much but as we try to build to suit everybody this cylinder is the best starting point for the non-dragger. Im glad to get another opinion on how this motor really feels. If your interested in setting one up give me a call and we can get you setup to try one.
  2. Were trying got 3 together 2 more to go and one chassis.
  3. Plans are we are going to serve bbq saturday night after the racing is over at our camp. This is a customer appreciations so its free and everybody is welcome even if you haven't bought from me. Looking forward to seeing and racing everyone. Andy
  4. That is exactly why this cylinder was born. Trying to accommodate for what i feel is possibly a bigger (yet less niche) portion of the market. Our setup was basically what we had laying around to get it running and tested for Calvin. We honestly have been so busy with other builds that doing more test just haven't been in the cards. We set it up on pump gas (91) because we felt that will be the most reasonable setup for the average guy. This is in no way what we feel like is the best setup for this motor, but like the title of this thread says, "Round 1". We are going to do more testing in the future all we need is time. Honestly we are not sure what pipe carb combo is going to work the best yet only testing will tell.
  5. Here is the updated sideview Sideview of CPI-S6858P_Serval_Cub .pdf
  6. Me and calvin updated the sidview as there were a few things a little mis marked. With a .02 gasket you should be .0135 in the hole. Doing the squish test the way you did is confirming your positive deck height but thats still got me scratching my head. Are you 100% that your cases have not been decked?
  7. Trust me I cussed Calvin so many times about that lol... he always just tells me he will not change it because it will affect the outside transfer and effect power and we all no we would rather have power that anything..
  8. And as far as the base nut goes thats the way all cubs are just need the 10mm arp nut and your good. If you think that one is tight wait till you do a DM lol!
  9. I wonder where the discrepancy is then? The cylinder should measure the same as all 4mm cubs do which is 4.079 which should put you in the hole .01-.012" I have done tons of 4mm cubs and thats how they always are. I measured another serval that came from the same batch as yours and thats what it measured as well. Ive never had one with positive deck... Curious if your cylinder is short or something else isnt right. A couple of thousands difference is no biggie but your off .015-.02?
  10. Did you by chance measure overall height of the cylinder?
  11. Has your cases been decked? What crank are you running?
  12. Just wanted to let everyone know I will be out of the shop for a few days. I am actually getting married this saturday and we will be on a honeymoon for a few days. We are doing are best to finish up any and all promised motors so nobody worry. I will have my phone so pm's and emails will be the only way to reach me. There will still be people at the shop answering the phone and shipping if needed but limited tech suport. Just wanted to give everybody a big thank you for all your support. Anybody waiting on parts or motors it will be well worth the wait. Sorry to anybody that has been trying to get threw to us we have been slamed with work. We have been working 7 12's trying to get caught up. My voice mails were so far behind there is no way we are going to get all the calls returned before we leave. If anybody needs me please call again we will get back to you. Thanks again for all your support, Andy M&M ATV
  13. I don't have the blueprint in front of me but I did set mine up just like a 68x58 cub which was .012 gasket .01 in the hole. I used .03 step in the dome put me at .04-.045 total squish. What's the rest of your setup going to be? If you need anything else to finish her up just let me know.
  14. Did u do some grinding or were those the numbers as cast. Should have came out 186 126 with a .012 gasket.
  15. You only have so much material to work with on the oem cylinder. There are tons of reasons why the CP cylinders are far superior to OEM. Intakes, boost ports, 3 transfers per side, triple exhaust, better angles, port timings, on and on and on. At 80hp a lockout is recommended or be prepared to go threw some clutches from time to time. There are things we can do to make a lockup bike shift but ultimately a duneable override would be best. We do have clutches that will hold 80hp with really stiff springs but a lockup is still a better solution. This is a 68mm bore motor so a stock head will not work without being re chambered (just decking the head will NOT work). If your buying from us we use Noss domes so if you have a Pro design, Noss, or Modquad head all you will need is the domes and you can use your head.
  16. Higher compression, better fuel, more timing, and possibly different pipes will yield higher numbers and sacrifice nothing.
  17. All the pictures you could ever want This is a cub but i cant tell the difference so i know you cant lmao!
  18. For all the people who wants a kit here you go Serval Kit Serval Kit with No head
  19. Do you have any graphs from your 4mm that might be interesting to overlay the 2 graphs. Keep in mind this was a very conservative setup. There is another 10hp in this setup without sacrificing any bottom end with a more aggressive setup. I dont know that i have ever seen a stock cylinder with 80hp and 50ft/lbs on pump gas.
  20. I have them in stock!
  21. Obviously it is not a drag motor nor do we pretend that it is so dragging it against 110 hp 421 cubs really doesn't prove anything. But we did ride it in the trails and in the open against nicely ported oem cylinders and it was more that strong. It handled about every oem dune ported stock cylinder we threw at it. The real test is ride-ability and smooth power delivery which is has. I think that everybody on the fence about a good strong ported oem cylinder should really consider a serval. It has so much usable power and really easy to ride, but to be honest its really a fast little motor and this setup is so conservative the way it is setup. IMO it is setup the way they should be (pump gas and inframes).
  22. They look identical to a cub cylinder they are the exact same casting just different port timings. There is absolutely room for improvements in peak power from porting, but that is what a cub is. If your looking for a drag motor by a cub, if your looking for a trail, dune motor buy a serval. We took the serval to sand fest this weekend to give it a real world test and it only got better and better. The little bike took everything we threw at it and more. Its has got to be the easiest bike to ride that i have ever been on.
  23. The serval that we did made 80hp/50tq as cast with no port work. I don't see any reason for people to want to port this motor. If they want more to begin with buy a cub. If you want to start with this and later go to a cub you can with porting. Package deals are no problem just give me a shout and I will set you up. Andy
