Hi Andy, Cali has 2 stickers that they give out for offroad bikes/quads. One is a red sticker and one is green. If you have a red sticker you are restricted to riding times during the year. If you have a green sticker you can ride unlimted. You should be able to get a green sticker for an 2001 bike. You may not need a sticker at all if your just visting but I'm not sure on that.

The cable should be the same as stock. The lever is what makes it a ez-pull.

I have the same pipes and filter (no box lid) on 2nd over piston and ride at Pismo Beach. I run 280 mains and stock Pilot jet which is 25. My bike runs really well at Pismo and has for the last few years I've had it there.

Flags are not meant to ride on trails. You will catch them on tree, bush' ect. The flags are meant to use in the dunes so another riders can see you more easily when approaching you from the other direction on a dune. 2 cents

To check for an air leak get a can of starter fluid. Start the bike and let it warm up. Next take the can of starter fluid and spray it around on the intake boot. If the engine runs any different you have an air leak. If that doesn't work you could have a partially plugged silencer. Let us know what you find.

Your better off buying a new T-Maxx. The engines are like $150.00. After you buy one and maybe put a new engine in it, it will cost almost the same for a new one. If you do buy used, I see them on ebay all the time and all the after market parts you could want. I love mine.
