  1. Like everyone says , get it good and clean before and it will stay that way, If you have greased your a-arms latley I wouldn't grease them until you get back , the sand sticks to all the pivot points if any grease is on them. Check your air filter , carb boots and intakes , check your throttle cable and use a dry lube on it , the sand loves to get in the cables . Don't wax the plastic , just draws the sand or put amorall on the tires (had a buddy that did this) . I use Amsoil chain lube and have had no problems with sand sticking to chain. Depending on the type of air filter you have an outerwear is a good idea. Take spare underwear and socks If YOU.. want to stay cleaner , camp in north campground , less traffic and not all the dust to inhale like the south camp ground. Darn , I wished I was going can't go this weekend have to wait till the 21st
  2. SyNtAxx , I have a very similair setup as yours , just different pipes but mine has been suffering from the same symptoms . I was running 360 mains , 30 pilots and needles on the 3rd clip from blunt end. I was getting a midrange sputter in the beginning of the midrange , not really a bog ,it would crackle and miss and then take off. I lowered the needle to second clip and it helped a lot , but have not had time to mess with it anymore since then.So I really don't have mine perfect yet. The porting made it need a bigger main but it made mid range rich with the needle high , on mine any way .If you get yours lined out let me know what you come up with and I'll do the same.

    Gearing

13/43 with 20" paddles for general duning , but if I want to go fast 14/41 and I can use the same chain . Need 22" paddles but with the 20" and 13/43 , I can cruise around in 3rd or 4th gear and never bog the engine in the trails and tight turns.
  4. Keep the pro circuits and save the money for a port job and new top end , then if you want more you can always buy the CPI's later on . The porting will give you more power than just switching pipes, and probably be less money than the pipes would be.
  5. Ok , so you put pipes on and did the tors removal, What jets did you put in the carbs ? Also when you have it running holding the throttle , will it idle ? or is it running too fast then you let up and it dies? Or does it die like you hit the kill switch? Was it running fine before the mods?
  6. I have stock carbs and after jetting and needle changes several times I must have gotten a little grit on one of the slides , It was sticking wide open on one carb sometimes , still a scarcy feeling . I disassembled the carb and cleaned it out with carb cleaner , but it was still sticking, So took some 600 grit sandpaper and lightly sanded the slide by holding the paper around it and turning the slide in the paper , did this just enough to get it smooth. Cleaned again with carb cleaner and no more sticking. I have a set of RFX pipes and for my style of riding I like them , they have a very smooth power delivery and very strong midrange, I like these or CPI's but I burn my leg to much on the CPI's . I have only rode FMF fatties , PT mids , LRD's , and CPI's ,so I really don't know how they compare to other pipes, Toomeys and Pro circuit are pipes I see a lot of but I have never tried them.
  7. He needs sponsors , If he gets a lot of sponsors and makes a profit from the site he would keep it running , All you guy's with a business selling stuff here need to run an ad. Hit Lee up about running some banners , it's good advertisement . Noss machine has been a dedicated sponsor of this site , Who else can sponsor?? I sure hate to see this site go.
  8. Pull your air box and boots and look at the slides and see if the idle screws are raising the slides slightly when you screw them in , you may have to file more material from the carbs to get the screws to go in far enough to raise the slides.
  9. The circle on the carb in the left side of the pic would be on the inside when the carbs are installed and you will be very upset if you drill it there.
  10. Mine had a bad mid range sputter and I tried 25,27.5, 30, 32.5 pilots and could not get rid of the sputter until I lowered the needle to the second from the top , mine likes the 25 pilot with 1 turn out on the air screws or 27.5 pilots with 2.5 turns out. Just lower the needle one clip and try it.
  11. Led I'm sure you remember some of the old days a Little Sahara when the home made sandrails ruled and the quads were few and far between. If you showed up on Sat. you might have to park in the sand . Now it is a mad house and if you don't get there 2 weeks ahead of time you can't find a place to park. I never personally met you but I have seen you and your group up there before and you guys always had some awesome rails . Those were the good old days. And update on Little Sahara, freind went down last night and said all camp grounds were full at the south and north including cowboy camp , limited camping on north road and some at Sand Rat . It makes me that people can park a car or pitch and old tent in spot two weeks ahead of time and save it till they get there Fri. night or Sat. Yes the place has really went to $@!^.
  12. Banchetta, To change your reed settings on the Vforce , you just have to remove the screws in the plate that holds the reeds down ,and turn it over , one side says"high" and the other side says "low" , the plate has a ridge bent into the metal and it changes the tension when you turn it over. I have not tried mine on low setting , but I am curious what you come up with .
  13. The new Yamaha OEM gaskets are graphite coated and require no sealer, If using hard paper gaskets a little sealer would help. The head gasket, you may go with copper coat like LRD said or aluminum spray paint works good also .
  14. I'll be up Wednesday morning . Hauling 5 quads up that I have all to myself until Thursday night. Do you think they would know ? Ah well mine is the fastest , at least . Hey you guy's save me spot.
  15. Give Jim a shout at Passion Racing Engines. Screen Name " PassionRE " His work is top of the line and his prices are good.
  16. Hey guys , take your jackets and coats with you ,the weather forecast doesn't look that great , chance of rain and highs in the 50's to 60's this weekend , I hope they miss it and turns out nice but it does'nt look good. Waynoka weather at Little Sahara
  17. I was thinking of the horsepower gains you could get from chrome plastic. What do you think 3-5 hp??
  18. Hey guys ran across this chrome plastic , looks pretty neat, but I'm broke e-bay auction
  19. I'll be there , And I just go that weekend to see all the wicked fast bikes, There will be some crazy fast thumpers there also and they are sleepers too So be careful what you wish for .
  20. One gallon of gas 128ozs. 128x5= 640 ozs. 640 / 40 = 16 ozs. of oil 40:1 ratio
  21. This time of the year every weekend will be crowded. The north camp ground is a little quieter than the south , but at the south camp you can drive your quad to the store. The south entrance to the dunes is the flats where everybody drags. The north entrance to the dunes is the big hills.
  22. Well with a little research I found that Vito's makes a gasket for the carb. boot side , specifically for V-Force reeds that is a lot wider than OEM gaskets. This gasket would seal the gap between the reed cage assembly and the manifold spacer. Now my question is after fixing this , is my jetting going to be way off ?? and what is the effect of running engine with leak between reed cage and carb ??
  23. My V-Force Reeds did not come with gaskets, so stock gaskets were used, after inspection I noticed that the stock gaskets do not totally seal the reed cage. Where the inside of the reed assembly goes in the manifold spacer there is a gap that the stock gaskets do not cover. Should wider gaskets be used on the carb side?? And would this cause a low end bog ?? Sorry no pics.
  24. Hey SandDuneJunkie , You are real close to me , Im about 80 miles south of Liberal. We have a group that is going Snake Hunt Weekend , may be about 10 of us. I may go to Beaver this weekend and break-in my new top end and work on jetting a little.
  25. I wanted to go down this weekend but mines still apart. I had some buddys that went saturday to break in a new yfz 450 and try out some pipes on a kfx 700 . They had fun but said it was a little cool Sat. , The only thing I got running right now is a 250 Trailblazer it's to slow for me . Waiting on big brown truck to bring my parts.
