  1. If you raced as a career and 21lbs meant food on the table, then yeah, I'd say $7g's MIGHT be worth the investment. Otherwise, not in a million years! You could always try losing 21lbs of body weight. You'd actually save money that way.
  2. Fucking gay. Those 20's come with a complimentary tube of ass lube?
  3. Its about 3-4 hours from Orange to Glamis. Dumont is about the same.
  4. Yeah 10 is WAY too much! I'd go with 8 paddle haulers. 8" wheel if you mostly drag, 10" if you mostly dune. What tire psi are you running?
  5. Naw man just auto-rotate that shit. Cut the pitch and throttle, let it fall like a rock, then right before it hits the ground, crank the pitch back up. If you do it right its pretty sweet! If you don't...well try to not get hit by any flying parts!
  6. Or just camp out in the sand... Sure you sometimes gotta make a mule train with a couple big trucks pulling the big RV's and trailers in/out but the upside is worth it. No crowds, no dust, no Snoop Dogg till 4am, no reserving neccesary.
  7. If you've never flown an RC heli then invest in an RC simulator - Real Flight is probably one of the better ones. Flying an RC heli is one of the most challenging things you'll ever attempt. Even real helicopter pilots are at a loss when it comes to the RC version. I've got one of those indoor $100 Bladerunner heli's, (which I've modified quite a bit), and its a fun little toy for around the house. Definately indoors only though as even having an open window will make it almost impossible to fly! Its nothing like flying a raptor though! I've logged quite a few hours of heli time on my simulator, and can usually fly for awhile before crashing. Still, its pretty hard to crash a heli and not have the repair bill come out to less than $100. Here's a link to Real Flight's page. There's a free demo available that will let you fly 1 heli and 1 airplane - check the left margin. The heli is a little Impala or something and there's only keyboard control, but you'll be able to get an idea of how much input you have to do just to keep the thing airborne. At $200, the simulator will pay for itself by the time you finish your first flight with that raptor. Here's the program at tower hobbies: LINK
  8. iPods have a crossover built into the headphone jack so you won't get quality sound if you hook up via that port. Also, the FM transmitters broadcast on a radio frequency, so your ipod music is going to only be radio quality. Since you're only running the stock system this probably won't bother you. For optimum sound quality, you need to have an adapter that plugs directly into the bottom of the ipod (no crossover) and is hard wired into the head unit (via RCA's usually). Again, on a stock system you probably won't be able to tell the difference.
  9. Doesn't have a stretched out pic, just a bad run in with a trash compacter
  10. I used an overnight Kroil soak, a oxyt/acet rosebud, and a 5ton press to get mine off. Made it almost to 4 tons before it started to give.
  11. It can be done, but its not easy. Look for a post by a member named mat or MrMatt. He did a write-up on how to do it.

    tires

The real problem comes in when you switch from riding knobs on sand to real sand tires. If you're not careful you'll end up on the ground after the 1st turn. But yeah, dirt tires are fine. The only time that they'll really screw you is when riding sideways on a steep dune. They're fine for uphill and downhill, but have a hard time with that sideways shit.
  13. How people manage w/out a gps is beyond me.
  14. Parking brakes are more trouble than they're worth. You have to adjust them almost every time you go out, and even then they're prone to trouble. That's why most people get a block off plate first thing. You won't have issues with your bike rolling away if you pay a little attention when you stop it. All else fails, just drag one end so it sits more sideways on the hill.
  15. Depends on what lights you're running. Dual MR16's will not work with the stock stator. Dual MR11's will. I'm running 2 mr16's on the bars and 2 MR11's on my helmet w/ a 200w stator and Trailtech's big battery. The MR16's are definately worth the extra money to upgrade the stator!
  16. Thanks Jon, but looks like all I had to do was ask one of my riding buddies. SDD came through and is gonna bring out his stockpile of jets next time he and I go to the dunes. Thanks!
  17. Sounds like you want my shee. I've got good bottom, mid, and top. Obviously its not gonna have the torque of a 4 stroke, or the top end of a drag bike, but it is pretty well rounded. 4mm stroker custom creations dune port (asked him for a bit more mid/bottom) T'5's v force 2's single 35pwk k&n pod +4 advance +2 swingarm keeping the front end on the ground I'm running a cut stock head now. One of these days I'll get around to picking up an aftermarket so I can bump up the compression a bit.
  18. Just the regular 25 pilot that came in your carbs. I know somebody has one laying around. I need one for the yz80.
  19. Which nut is that Fox?
  20. You'd be surprised how quickly you can rebuild an engine. A newbie could split the cases and have it back together in a weekend. What's wrong with her? Maybe its a simple fix that we could help you with.
  21. Getting there is pretty easy, its getting back that's tough. That first hill when you leave olds eats 2wd's. I've pulled out more than a few guys there. Keep your speed up and don't even think of touching the brakes. If you feel the wheels start to spin, ease off a bit on the gas. The idea is to keep traction and digging holes doesn't help that. If you stop moving, get off the gas ASAP and throw it in reverse. You won't be able to start going again while heading uphill so just back up and take another run, this time a little faster. A 2wd truck with decent tires can make it in/out of there no problem, as long as there's no traffic and the driver knows what he's doing.
  22. Sweeeet... Just think, that's the shallowist (is that even a word?) that those whoops will be all season.
  23. You just need an easy out. You drill a small hole into the broken stud, then switch to the easy out. Once you see an easy out you'll understand how it works.
  24. The general rule is you want at least 5 if you jump, then increase the pressure up to a max of 8 for wetter sand.
