  1. I converted to DC and haven't had any stator issues. However I disagree that the only reason is so you can run your lights with the bike off. If that's your only goal, then kick the damn thing over! The ONLY reason why anyone should consider the conversion is if they want to run HID lights. Unless you want HID's, then just get the 200w stator and a shitload of lights. Leave the conversion out of it.
  2. Oh and I should add that arc welders work great on banshee frames!
  3. ^^^Boy was that a bitch to read! I agree that you need to look at what your uses are. There's pluses and minuses to every type of weld: Mig - messy and not very strong, but quick and easy. Doesn't work well on thick metal. Probably the cheapest machines. Arc - much cleaner than mig, but still some spatter. Can't do really thin stuff (like 1/16" is too thin) or aluminum. Tig - can weld all metals. Very clean and very strong welds - no spatter means you can weld in a suit and tie if you want. Hardest method to master as well as most expensive (usually). Also is VERY VERY slow. I got a chance to use one of THESE at my work the other day. Thing only weighs 13 lbs and can be plugged into any 110v outlet! I'd say that it would do 95% of the jobs I do, and I'm a welder by trade! Plus there's a model w/ a TIG option.
  4. Use a multimeter to see if you've got juice prior to the harness. If you don't then its a stator issue.
  5. If you're talking about one of the trailtech speedometers than don't bother. Get a GPS instead. It will track your speed, mileage, etc and help you find camp, a brokedown bike, or a hurt buddy. They start around $70.
  6. Camera was a factory blem Canon ZR80 for $120 off ebay. Just had a little scratch on the body. Then I've got 2 cams. The first one is wired and cost me around $30 - also on ebay. Its not super high quality but its decent. The 2nd one I got is wireless and was $50, but I'm working on waterproofing that one for use during kiteboarding so haven't used it in the field yet. Mainly the issue is getting decent reception through a shaking pelican box and a wet backpack. Other than that I just had to get some RCA's, velcro, and a little silicone. Wired cam kinda looks like this one LINK but its 420 or 480 resolution and doesn't have the IR. Here's an uncompressed video sample (8.7mb): Front Roll
  7. Seems like a pain in the butt when you can get a mini-dv off ebay for $120-ish. My whole setup - camera, camcorder, cables, etc. was well under $200. I could have bumped that up by getting a better camera though...
  8. Skidplate mounts depend on the swingarm so you'll need to ask the seller. A 120 link chain is only a few dollars more than the stock chain so get the max # of links and a chain breaker. RMATV has one for like $8.
  9. I had the same issue w/ my single 35. Took awhile figuring out what needle it liked.
  10. Far as I know those Hi-8's aren't setup with firewire or anything since they're analog. Unless you've got analog inputs on your computer (most don't), you'll need to use a converter. Something like this: LINK I've seen cheaper ones than that but I think the cheapest I've seen was around $160. I'd still say your best bet would be to go with a cheap mini-dv.
  11. Sand Stars aren't much more money than geckos and are at least 500x better in the sand. Trust me man, sell the geckos, you'll be so stoked when you get some real paddles!
  12. Splines are the same for the 4 bolt sprocket hub and the 6 bolt sprocket hub.
  13. Exactly what bansh-eman posted. You're only using the camcorder for recording so aside from a/v input and format, the rest doesn't matter. I'll dig up a clip...
  14. Check ebay for Canon ZR series. I got a base model which was a new factory blem for $120 shipped. Its mini-dv and has a/v in/out. Plus its super tiny and light. I've got it mounted in a pelican box which I just throw into a backpack. Something like this: LINK
  15. I dunno about that... I tried some geckos once and then swapped out for some brand new holeshots - had better grip with the holeshots! Geckos are for 250ex's n' crap.
  16. I personally think the graydon is a better design. Unfortunately, graydon went out of business a few years ago so information might be a little difficult to obtain.
  17. Next time it idles, check to see if you've got exhaust coming out both pipes. Put ur hand back there and see if the pressure feels even.
  18. Do you actually want HID's? Either way check out trailtech or lazerstar. Personally I like the look/construction of the TT ones better. Both companies carry HID as well, but you'll need a 200w stator and you'll need to convert your shee to DC.
  19. I was pretty disappointed compared to the book - and I didn't like the book either! My complaints: Book- I'm betting that Dan Brown went crazy with the ol' highlighter when they covered 'foreshadowing' in creative writing 101. Holy crap did that shit annoy me. It was almost always totally pointless as well. Foreshadowing, or giving future information to the reader and not the characters, is a tool for building suspense (in case you didn't know). That's fine, but he's an idiot. By page 50 I knew what was gonna happen on pages 51, 55, 62, 73, 82-85, 115-132, 144, 146, and 153-164. Another thing that pissed me off was the transitions that I assume were put in there to keep the reader from putting the book down. For example, the dude and the chick are in the louvre, following a line of clues left by the dead guy. This goes on for 10 pages, then they have an idea and check BEHIND such n' such painting: "What they saw caused both of their jaws to drop." Now cut over to some other part of the story and read about those dipshits for 20 pages. Okay now back to the Louvre: "What they saw behind the painting caused both of them to turn ash white. There, written in invisible ink were the words: "Five-sixty man came through, Klatoo Verata Nektoo!" -So lemme get this straight. I stayed up 15 more minutes to wade through 20 pages of BS to find out that there's a message that you could have told me 20 pages ago and it wouldn't have made shit for sense then either?? Now we need another 10 pages to explain what the fuck that crap means! And this kinda bullshit happens like 15 times in the book! I usually go through a book pretty fast. Something that size about 7 days. It took me over a month to read it cuz I kept getting so pissed at his writing style. And the movie: Should be better than the book right? There's no way they could duplicate the mistakes Brown made! Okay so for the most part that was true, but here's what they did do: "We're hollywood pussies making a controversial movie about whether J.C. was just a man who was banging the shit out of Mary or really the son of God and all pious n' shit. But we don't want to alienate 1/2 our audience so we're gonna cut the balls off this message! How? We'll make Jesus's descendants have special powers! But we'll make it kinda vague n' shit so we don't really know for sure if its a special power or just coincidence. Fuck me that's brilliant!"
  20. Bansheefourseven, why don't you look for a 2 stroke 80? My wife's little yz80 kicks ass, even w/ my 220lbs on it. Front end goes to the moon when it hits the band in the lower gears. I bought it for uh...$550 I think?
  21. Saw one of these things at the gas station today on my way to work. Ironic that it was at a gas station eh? Guy lit up the tire before doing a wheelie out of the parking lot. He had his setup Motard-style. Man, if only I had $7g's laying around! http://www.electricross.com/ In California you could ride it on the street since it counts as an electric bicycle. Probably work for other states as well. God I'd love to see the dirty looks you'd get from the tree huggers b4 they realized its electric!
  22. Gotta love it when the site owner posts that one! My local radio show does some great skits/songs w/ fedex and brittani. TMZ posted one of em: Click the audio button below 1st picture
  23. It should work fine, but on a mild engine your probably going to have a hell of a time jetting the low end. Might be better if you're running some hefty port work and/or a stroker.
