  1. Since I mostly ride dunes I'd take the shee anyday. Even when I'm out jumping I feel more comfortable on the shee. Granted I have alot fewer hours on the yfz so maybe I'd get used to the ultra-light front end. The only time that I prefer the yfz is on really steep, narrow, rutted out trails that I never come out of 1st gear. Its a nice quad and its fast as well...but isn't nearly as much fun to ride as the shee.
  2. Nug...you're comparing a 250 2-stroke with a 600 4-stroke. One fires twice as often as the other. If cc's were the only factor then a raptor should hand a banshee its ass everytime. The XR's were primarily made as a trail bike whereas the CR was made for MX. Terrain will have alot to do with it as well. But the point stands...125's are pretty underpowered no matter what you do to them.
  3. Ain't you ever seen those boats in thailand? Basically take an oversized canoe, dump an engine on top of it, attach a 15 foot propeller shaft and lay it out the ass end. Don't even need to cut a hole. Seriously tho man...what kind of material are you thinking of making this boat out of? Aluminum? Wood? Fiberglass? Cement? My personal experience lies in composites or wood laminates. If it doesn't need to be terribly strong I'd go with a fiberglass layup on top of a foam core. If you need more durability try substituting wood instead of foam.
  4. Keep your eyes open on the trade section. Usually you can find somebody trying to go back to a thumb throttle. I grew up on dirt bikes as well and have used twist on all my quads. I haven't had a near miss in the past 10 years. You learn how to keep your wrist straight.
  5. You're comparing a 350 to a 125. A pipe would def. give you more power bottom to top but its never gonna be as fast as the shee. Either keep it for something different to ride and a good jumper or sell it and get a 500 if you're main goal is top speed. I just bought a CR250 myself and wound it out on the sand...kept looking for another gear to shift up into. Oh well it aint the fastest flat out but I can hit the whoops quicker now.
  6. I've got stars all around on mine. Hook up pretty damn good for straight line and dune very nicely. I'm running 20" tires on 10" rims in the rear and 22" tires on 10" rims up front.
  7. I'm restoring a 29 foot trimaran right now. Man is it alot more work than you think. Just invest in West Systems epoxy...and LOTS of it!
  8. You could buy one from RMATV or any shop but they're still a pain to use. You're better off getting a punch or a screwdriver and just tapping them with a hammer.
  9. You can make hard mount ones removeable.
  10. I've ridden on works, elkas and TCS and the TCS were my fav's.
  11. I just put a +4 longrod in mine. That's the biggest you can get without trenching the cases. I personally had my stock head cut to accept the added stroke. With this setup you need to get porting specifically for the added stroke. Other options are to run a spacer plate or a thicker base gasket. I went with the cut head since I didn't have any porting and spacers tend to f'k with the case volume. I haven't gotten my porting done yet since I ran out of money but even without the porting I noticed a significant increase in power bottom to top, but mostly on bottom. With porting it should pull my arms off nicely. There's also a shortrod version that will wind up a little faster but at the cost of reliability. With the longrod setup you'll also need to get some 795 pistons. As far as carbs go, I like the keihin 35 pwk air strykers with dual clamp on k&n's. Also on the to-buy list should be some aftermarket reeds if you don't already have them.
  12. Happy bday man!
  13. So does this thread take the prize for the dumbest question ever asked on the HQ? I'm thinking until somebody asks if a nerf bars require a jetting change this one is gonna be king.
  14. Does he have any other electronics on board? Cuz some GPS's will tie into your radar/chartplotter/depth sounder and will give you an all-in-one. The portables are handy if you need to use it for different things. If the only thing he's gonna use it for is the boat, then you're better off getting a solid mount unit.
  15. DUNEDEMON does the powder chrome. But its not available to the public yet.
  16. You don't remember that post, and I've got a strange, slurred voicemail on my phone....I wonder if there's a connection?
  17. Happy b-day miss 21 yr old! My guess is you'll spend the day chatting in the HQ chat room and drinking till you puke. Oh ya and seducing poor unsuspecting friends of yours.

I've got some on ebay right now. EBAY
  19. Well...me, dunedemon, sdd, justintoxicated, inflames, jtquad, jkjk, and about 80 other HQ east coasters will be up near gecko. But have fun at Gordons.
  20. FYI for anybody checking out these pegs... You can take 2 sets of stock footpegs and cut the mount part off of one set. Take the peg and grind it up a little to match contours. Place the peg against the other complete set and weld them together. Ta-da! Double wide pegs. Takes about an hour to do the whole thing.
  21. Something else to consider is that some mounts don't isolate the vibrations well enough and the gps will keep shutting off. I've got the Legend as well and use the handlebar mount made for it. Can't beat it! It also adds another degree of waterproof protection since the battery compartment on a standard legend isn't waterproof. The garmin mount replaces the batt cover with a different one that has an O-ring. The only time I've had it turn off on me was when I tried mounting it to the front bumper on the yfz. But on handlebars its never given me an issue, even while riding hard and hitting some small jumps.
  22. First I have to pull my penis up my pant leg a little so I don't step on it. Then I straddle the seat, pull out the kicker and fire her up.
  23. They putt just fine. On slow technical trails I'll take the yfz over the shee anyday. You can lug it around a gear high and it just pulls and pulls. When you open her up its fast, but not nearly as fun as the shee.
  24. I'll be there thur night/fri morning around 1 am. Camped out in the sand 300 yards diagonally out from sweet maries...yellow xterra with whit enclosed haulmark trailer. Stop by and help me with my jetting
  25. Ya alot depends on where you live and how your shee is stored. If its in a semi warm garage in a dry area it probably won't rust if you keep her clean. My house it'd rust by morning.
