  1. Hey its my yes-man!
  2. I don't think I've ever seen a 5mm or 8mm, but I have seen plenty of 4's and 7's. You'd need new cylinders or new porting, depending on how aggressive your port work was (ask your builder), or you might be able to run a spacer plate. You're gonna need pipes to get anything out of that engine, but that's also true right now with just your porting. On top of that, you'll need a new head with stroker domes or get your stock head cut to accept the added stroke. Then you'll need bigger carbs, 35's work well for either but you might be able to use 33's on the +4, don't forget you'll also need a new intake manifold and air filter setup. You should get reeds and a stronger clutch, at least 3 heavy duty springs in the clutch. Next you'll need new pistons, if you go longrod like you should you'll have to run either blaster pistons and bore it out or 795 series pistons. Lastly, you'll probably want a longer swingarm, new chain and sprockets, billet impeller and maybe an aftermarket radiator. Of course you'll also need all the gaskets and seals. That's what you'll need to do it right on a budget.
  3. According to their website (www.wickedatv.com): "...UPGRADED DYNO JET SOFTWARE & DUAL DRUM 188 ATV/KART DYNO." Update: did the calculations to find that I'm running about 376 cc's I'm kinda surprised by the #'s you guys are guessing. I'd be happy if I had 60+ HP.
  4. Ok just for laughs and since the last guy that did this started a pretty interesting thread. Probably no prizes if you're right other than admiration and respect from other HQ members. Ask questions in case I left out any information... Here's my engine mods: +4 stroker/longrod crank w/ 65mm 795 series pistons (385 cc's) mild dune port by Custom Creations cut stock head running about 140psi Timing plate at +4 degrees advance 1/2 112 octane running 32:1 on castor 927 (yeah I know I can switch back to 91 now, just using up what I have left). V Force 2's with reeds in the LOW position T5's single 35mm pwk air stryker(dunno what jets yet, prolly 205+ mains, 70'ish pilot) DIY Graydon style manifold single clamp on K&N Dirt Digger clutch w/ 3 HD springs sea level, about 60-65 degrees BansheeHQ go-fast sticker ADDED BONUS: Guess my final jetting combo and win a free used plastic fork!
  5. I changed my carbs to a single 35mm when I put in my +4 stroker (no porting). I loved it! Super easy to change jets, nice clean look, snappy throttle response, and a LOW END! When I got my porting done I added a 2nd 35pwk and kept it that way for 1 weekend. Found that I had too much damn top end for my stock swinger and I really missed the ease of jetting changes. Also the bottom end that I'd grown to love wasn't there anymore. I made myself a new 2:1 manifold to replace the first one I made since it had a few design flaws. Just finished putting the single carb back on and I'm taking it to the dyno next week for tuning and to see what kinda numbers I'm pulling. So I guess what I'm saying is: I love having a single carb, but they're not for everybody. You're going to lose a little on top, but you'll get it back down low. Most single carb guys ride mostly trails and everybody says for strictly sand to go with duals. Well I ride glamis 99% of the time and I say that its really personal preference and I'll keep my single thank you.
  6. No it wasn't powdercoated but I didn't pay for a powdercoated frame. He actually knocked some money off the price cuz I have to sandblast the rhino liner that was on it so I can get her powdercoated. I didn't even ask him to. Thanks again Gargamel! I've got a trip to Italy next month so my banshee fund has been put on hold until we get back. After that its off to the powdercoater and I'll be picking up some A arms (finally ditching the j-arms) and some suspension. Mmmmm...okay screw Italy, the wife will understand.
  7. Here in cali some politition is lobbying to have a law that Home Depot has to provide an enclosed area with running water and toilets for all the illegals that hang out there. Um...talk about treating the symptom and not the disease. IMO, build the wall. Its not going to harm relationships between legals and their family back in mexico. Its not like there won't be border crossings anymore, you just gotta have citizenship to use em. How many of you consider swimming across a poluted river or hiking through 20 miles of desert to be normal fare for visiting the family?
  8. I ran a set of THESE for about a year using lower wattage bulbs with no problems. So ya you can run DC lights on an AC circuit.
  9. Well somewhere up behind the radiator you should have a couple plugs with 3 wires going into em. Green, black and I think white or yellow. Black is the ground and the other 2 are high or low beams. You just gotta splice your lighting wires into the black, and then pick one of the other wires to tie into, depending on whether u want the lights on in the low or high position. You don't wanna run more than 35w each. It won't necessarily burn up your stator, but they won't be as bright and will look very yellow if you exceed the 35w limit.
  10. On your stator. You've got 2 sets of windings - some small wimpy looking ones and then some beefier ones. The beefy ones are for lighting, the other post are ignition.
  11. Pipes are sold!
  12. I really like the Canon's for both vid and stills. The base model camcorder hasn't changed much in the past couple years. I got one from a couple years ago brand new off ebay for $120 or so. As far as I know, all the camcorders out there use firewire for video, and USB for stills (if they have still picture capability). Not sure what the PITA part of firewire was for you, it works just like USB.
  13. You'll also need an impact, a clutch holding tool, or make yourself something to hold the flywheel in order to get the nut off/on.
  14. actually riding dunes at night on a busy weekend is safer than riding during the day. At least at night you can see lights coming over the hill ur climbing from that buggy that wants to take ur head off.
  15. Yep Fireman...those look good. Hope you heal up well.
  16. Nice frame very well packaged. Kept me well informed of the transaction while he was taking everything off the frame (I was in no hurry at all and told him to take his time). Still managed to get the frame to me very quickly and at a great price. Don't hesitate to deal with this guy, he rocks!
  17. Yeah be careful that you didn't knick the gear when you were grinding. I'm not sure how balanced that thing is but you really don't want to introduce a source of vibration. I just used a punch to mark the center of the rivets and then drilled em out on a press using a bit slightly smaller than the rivet. They cracked and fell right out after that.
  18. One thing's for sure, you won't have a shortage of excuses if you order some Rockets...
  19. And even then it might take you a few months to get a set with welds that are decent. Personally I'd recommend any other pipe before Rockets.
  20. Sounds like one side is rich. Probably have a stuck float but could also be different size jets (professionally jetted doesn't always mean you get a rocket scientist). It could even be that your carbs are out of sync. Worst case would be that you have an airleak and the guy jetted it to make up for that one side being extra lean. I'd spray some carb cleaner all around the boots and reads, then I'd pull apart your carbs and clean em and check the jets. Then put em back on and sync em up. See if that helps. Also make sure your choke tube is still on, I believe that could cause problems as well.
  21. Watkins it sounds like you'll be near me if you're gonna be getting stuck. If you see my camp feel free to swing buy and I'll tow ya wherever you wanna go. Just found out this morning that I got the time off so I'll be getting there Thursday night or maybe Friday morning.
  22. Pretty much the trick to straightening a subframe is to take a big long piece of steel pipe and apply a little leverage while a buddy holds the frame.
  23. I switched to a single and need to order pretty much everything near the max size since it's on a ported +4 stroker. Dunno what I'll end up at but prolly at least a 210. matthew dixon 16862 Lynn st. Apt D Huntington Beach, Ca 92649
  24. Could also be the voltage regulator or just a loose wire at some point in the circuit. From the stator, you've got a plug, and a black and yellow wire. The black and yellow are your lighting circuit. Hook up a meter on em and see if you're getting any voltage. If you are, follow the wires and see where you're losing it. Oh ya and ditch that shop yesterday!
