Breed actually has alot less to do with temperment than most people think. Yes, one of my top 3 tangles was with a female pit that had puppies around the side of the house. I'm not saying that pits are useless as a guard dog, I'm just saying that 9x outta 10 I could distract a pit long enough to get the read and get out without it coming to a real confrontation. Rattling one side gate and then walking in the other worked all the time. My favorite was this mean lil bastard named Tank. All I had to do was tip-toe in the side gate really quietly, then slide the door closed on his doggy door. At that point I'd yell "Edison" real loud to announce that the Edison meter reader was there. Man...Tank would come running full bore straight into that solid doggy door. Ya so this was totally cheating on my end but it was funny as hell to watch him do it every month. Never did learn that hearing the word "Edison" meant his head was about to start hurting... For territoriality, you'll be hard pressed to find something better than a German Shepard. Although any dog that is kept almost exclusively in the house/yard will get that way (walks are fine, just don't take it to work with you to meet every customer that comes in). Most would-be theives will avoid a house with any dog. Small lil kick dogs (ankle biters) yap like crazy and get every dog in 3 blocks barking with em. Plus they're quick as hell and sneeky. I only got bit twice and both times it was on the back of the calf by some lil rat of a dog. Labs, retrievers and such are generally very protective over the family, especially kids. They're also pretty protective over the house when the family isn't home as well. Um...geez, you name the breed and I can tell ya about a nasty one I ran into.

What's the pooch for? I used to read electric meters and 99% of dogs are all show, regardless of breed. Out of the 3 nastiest tangles I ever had, 1 was with a pit, 1 with a dalmation, and 1 with a great dane of all things. Of the 3 you mentioned, Rotts are probably the wimpiest, with mastiff's 2nd. Pits are dumb as rocks so they're usually pretty easy to get around, but they're pretty vicious and have a high tolerance for pain. Pretty much the only way ur gonna get a dog to be really nasty is to beat it everyday. So ya uh...have fun with that one.

Actually it didn't really seem all that busy. The drags had alot of spectators, but not many people participating. Olds was maybe 4 rows deep with lots of open spots during the day. Friday night the rangers were going agro at olds. Every group that came in they'd pull somebody over, and the rangers were making stops at each group of people that were just hanging out. We stayed at the top of the hill for about 20 minutes listening to sirens going off every 30 seconds. It was completely dead. Steady stream of cars coming in...just as steady going back out, almost nobody running the hill AT ALL. I dunno if they were turning em around or what. At the bottom of the hill, the first row was maybe 1/4 - 1/2 full, then there were a couple scattered small groups here and there. We rode down briefly just to see what was going on with the rangers. I rode by some guy who was PARKED by a fire pit in the first row and the ranger was checking him for a spark arrester - that was enough for me. I don't need any tickets so we headed right back up the hill without stopping. I went to the ranger station the next morning to try to find out what was going on and the guy that talked to me tried to say that was normal and they always do that everywhere. Every example I tried to give as to how something different was going on at olds last night he said that was normal and they always do that everywhere in Glamis. Weird... Last night we didn't go to the hill until about 11:30. On the way in we passed probably 20-30 ranger/sheriff trucks on their way out. I dunno if they were at it again or what but when we got there it was more or less 3 rows deep, 1st row at 1/2 capacity, and 2nd and 3rd at maybe 1/4 of normal size. Pretty disappointing turnout for a holiday weekend IMO.

I dated a crazy chick once. It was my first semester of college. She had all kinds of issues that were a little embarrassing at times, but mostly just made for some great sex. I guess being a freak in the bedroom is the best way for crazy people to hold onto a guy. Plus they're easy to manipulate so they actually want to be freaky to try n keep you around. Everything was great till she threw a plate at my head when I was late for dinner once. I turned around and walked out, never looking back. I guess karma was fucking with me though for taking advantage of somebody who was mentally unstable. After that relationship was over I met one of the coolest girls I've ever met - even to this day. Things were going great for us until the psycho ex-girlfriend started stalking her. She broke it off with me to avoid that whole mess and I can't honestly say I blame her. To this day I still wonder where I'd be if I'd had the chance to be with her. So Nick, have fun man but I hope that you realize there are consequences to dating nut-jobs.

Oooo man I can just imagine the mess that duct tape would make! He's kidding by the way, or at least I hope he's kidding. Gasoline will disolve the sticky stuff on the tape rendering it useless on the first ride. All that goo will be going into your engine which can't be a good thing. Do you actually need an intake or are you trying to mate the carb boot up with an intake? Cuz if you just need a piece of hose to connect the 2 you can find some silicone hose in many different I.D.'s at a number of online car parts places.

That intake pictured is a Graydon. They're out of business now so you won't see many of those anymore. They're actually a better design performance-wise. The longer intake chamber helps add some mixture time as well as lessen the blow to your upper rpm's (according to my builder anyway). I'd actually heard that they were port tuned...now to which rpm I have no idea. I'm running a Graydon style intake that I made myself for my 2:1. I'm happy with it. I try to stay away from Trinity whenever possible. Don't forget you'll also need a throttle cable for a blaster.

Do you have spark? Usually when it just cuts off like that its due to a loose wire. I'd check for spark first to make sure that this is the problem, then if it is check the wiring at the coil and work your way back from there. -
I couldn't help you on the color but PC will hold up about 50x better than spraypaint or even the stock paint. If you don't wanna take it apart every few trips to re-apply paint to keep everything looking good then I'd go the PC route.

Just get a good swingarm skidplate. You'll be using it almost as much as the tires at Rocktillo...

Here on the HQ it takes quite a bit for a thread to get closed. Usually it ends up happenning when racial slurs start being thrown. Generally when a thread goes in the direction this one has gone to the mods will move it to the roosting room, which is exactly the type of thread you'd expect to see there. Not sure where the mods are on this one but I'm sure they'll get around to it.

What is the best kind of 28MM carb out there!

Personally I like mashed potatoes. I don't dig the gravy n shit. I'm more of a salt and mostly pepper, with a nice helping of butter. I'm not sure how big a plate would yield 28mm or even 30mm worth of carbs. Regardless of the amount however...them's some good eats! -

Get a clymers. You can rewire the whole banshee yourself. There's really not alot going on electrically.

Ah but if its the clutch the engine will wind up just fine, it'll continue to rev out when riding but the tires won't be moving any faster. It sounds like he's saying its running rough, like maybe on only 1 cylinder. Check to see if you have equal exhaust pressure coming out of the pipes and get back to us.

I agree. I'm a big guy (210 lbs) mostly riding dunes and sometimes trails and I think this mod was very good. Do I use the clutch more? Um ya maybe like 10%. Amazing that my left forearm isn't looking like Popeye's by now! Have I had any issues with stalling the bike? Not that I can think of. If I did it was my own fault. The revs are easier to get so I actually think it makes the bike easier to ride, especially when you're being aggressive. I would say that if you're the type of rider that is, for lack of a better word, lazy...then this prolly isn't the mod for you. If you like to putt around 2 gears too high, let the engine lug, don't like to use the clutch cept maybe to shift, or have a tendancy of stalling the bike already then don't do the mod. Otherwise, try it out. If you don't like it it should be pretty easy to trade flywheels with somebody on the HQ.

For speed I'd recomend a GPS. Trailtech also makes a computer that will show you speed and mileage, but its $70. For $80 and up you can get a GPS that'll do speed and distance, as well as help you find your buddy that broke down, or camp, etc. I really like the Garmin etrex series with their optional handlebar mount. For fuel: They make gauges that just drop into the tank thru the gas cap. Nothing ATV specific that I've seen (looking inside the tank while on a break works great for most people). Check boating stores like West Marine or Boaters World. Might be able to figure something out by drilling thru the gas cap. Oh and I really don't think you want to convert to DC just for this. It's kinda a pain in the butt.

How do you know your jetting's right without using a sniffer? Same way, we just jetted it on the dyno instead of at the dunes/trail.

Dunno about the super lites, but I can offer some insight into wheel size vs. performance... Depending on the rim and tire combo, you can play a little bit with the weight of the wheel. Some tires (mostly dirt or especially mud), are fairly heavy. Combining these with a larger rim might save you a couple ounces. Other tires like skat traks are very lightweight, so much that usually you can save some ounces by going with a smaller rim. Given the same diameter tire, the one on the larger rim will corner better due to less sidewall flex and the one on the smaller rim will be better for straightline speed. As the wheel speed increases, the tire on the smaller rim will have more rubber to elongate thereby increasing the gear ratio as the speed increases. So for Dragging - small rim better performance - big rim lots of rocks to bend rims - small rim

I'll see about posting up the graph. I've got a scanner but have never used it before. I know I'm losing power with the single carb, but its not like I need it at this point. I don't drag, and if I do race I don't really care what the outcome is. Besides I'm pushing all this on a stock swingarm in sand...front end is feeling mighty light already. I had dual 35's on there prior to this little experiment. I made the 2:1 manifold and used 1 of the pwk carbs so cost to me was $0. I figure I'll try this for a bit and see what I think. If I want more power, I'll go back to duals. Oh and I didn't have a sniffer on this dyno so no fuel/air graph.

Prolly due to the semi-low compression. New head is on the list after I take care of the clutch.
