Who keeps their bike stock?
-
resale value what do u think gonna happend
Wallrat replied to brianrides's topic in General Banshee Discussion
They grandfathered that law. It only applies to 2 strokes made after 2002. That's why shee's that are 2002 go for more money in Cali than 2003's. -
Holy hell dude! So when you say u tried swapping every electrical componant did you try a whole new harness too? After reading everything you've done my best guess is some kind of wiring issue. Try swapping out everything elec., wires included from a running bike. If it doesn't work then we definately know its not electrical.

The smaller rim and wider diameter allows the tire to elongate more at speed, thereby changing the final gear ratio.

And yet look at the Honda Pilot's. If there's a demand and a shortage of supply then the value can increase quite a bit. Most shee owners keep pretty good care of their machines though so I imagine it'll be quite a few years before there's a shortage of good used banshees on the market. -
Best way to do it is take a stock swingarm and use it to make a jig. Make hard mounts for the swingarm bolt, linkage, etc. then make a moveable mount for the axle housing/skidplate mounts. Cut a couple slots so you can slide the axle mount to whatever length you want. Mark the different measurements on the jig so you can quickly change the length without having to break out the measuring tape each time. You want to increase length in chain link size incriments, I forget what that measurement is (maybe Stan or somebody could chime in for that). The jig will prolly be 60% of the project, but a good jig wields a good final product.

Anyone want to shred Glamis 3/8-3/15?

I'll be damned Blaine...guess I'm finally gonna get to ride with u guys again on Prez weekend. Travis and Janel going too? -
Advanced timing is a very good (and cheap) mod that will give u a couple HP and more oomph all across the powerband. You should probably get some 330's, 320's, and 310's. Start with the 330's and if it runs like shit go down to the next size etc etc...

Have you seen a banshee with raptor plastics in person yet? Its pretty hidious. There's about 14 inches of empty space between the plastics and the radiator. Just a big gaping asshole...
-
Yeah ur supposed to do any length modifying at the axle end of the arm. If ur just modifying a stock swinger u can pick up a used stocker on ebay for pretty cheap. Or just post in the wanted section. Personally I don't like chopping and welding in a high stress area like a swingarm. The better way to go would be to build one from scratch.

Naw he's right. Jetting kits are a joke. Just order your jets individually thru a dealer, sudco, or whatever. Looked like the only engine mods u have are a k&n and t5's. Did you get the 200w stator with the adjustable timing plate? What kinda advance are u running? If you tell us ur elevation and temperature we could even tell u what jets to get.

I think I solved your issue so why the bump? Regardless of specs, a BRAND NEW dirt digger won't work for you.

Its pretty tough to keep a clear coat from showing some cloudiness. Plus everytime you hit a patch of gravel you'll have to worry about chips. If you shine em up real nice then chrome shouldn't be all that expensive. Usually the most expensive part of chroming is in the prep. Might be worth looking into.

I've heard of some of some shops setting up their dyno's to give better results. I guess you can tweak those things quite a bit. All I know is that I've seen 75hp machines on one shop's dyno consistently murder 100hp machines from another shop's dyno. Dyno #'s have to be taken with a grain of salt. Really they're more of a measurement tool to gauge how certain mods affected your machine than a way to compare one machine to another, or one shop to another. Pick one dyno and stick with it. Pay more attention to the increase/decrease you get before and after mods than the actual #.

I read something on that octane booster that said when they state it goes up 10 octane points it actually works out to .1 or something like that. I've got a buddy that used to work a refinery, I'll have to see what he says about it. You should be fine on pump gas, if you're nervous you could always mix in a little race gas to bump the octane up a few points. No need to run straight race gas though, at most I'd say a gallon or 2 of race gas to every 5 gallon can.

I dunno how much help the HQ is gonna be with this one man. We've bashed those plastics pretty bad here to the point that if anybody is running em, they won't usually admit it.

I've heard that the dirt digger is only good up to about 60HP or so. I put a brand new DD in my stroker and it didn't hold.
-
I'd stick with the 8's. Banshee's seem to like the added wheel spin of 8 paddle haulers until you start modifying the bore and stroke. Almost all ported shee's will still be faster on 8's.

There's a good chance that I'll be there the 10th, 11th and 12th. Probably get there sometime mid-afternoonish. I camp off in the sand straight out from the Gecko Rd. Ranger Station. Grey Nissan Titan pulling a 14 ft white enclosed trailer. Dunno who else will be there with me yet. -
I've never even heard of a clear tank. I've heard of natural, which is also see thru. But that's not clear, its more of a off-white/brownish color.

Have you tried looking inside the pipes? A buddy of mine had just rebuilt his shee and it had worked perfect in his driveway. Got to the dunes and was only running on the right side. Turns out he forgot to remove the paper towels that he had shoved into the exhaust ports to keep debris out. Right one was still in the expansion chamber, left one had made it up to the coupling and was lodged there. Other than that, try swapping plug wires, then reeds, etc...

You'll prolly end up somewhere around a 190 main, 55 pilot. At Glamis, I'm running 200/62 on my +4 and I'm just a tad fat. -
Thanks guys! Nope, no Pisa this time. We managed to book ourselves pretty solid since we're only going for 2 weeks. Next time maybe... Our layover is in Amsterdam actually. Unfortunately both there and back its not even enough time to leave the airport. So unless they've got some hash bars in the terminal...

Well kids I'm heading off to Italy today for 2 weeks so most likely no HQ. Wish me luck!
